“Yes,” she whispered without hesitation. He was the love of her life. She’d always known that, even when he’d been unable to return her love.
A look of pure joy mingled with relief seemed to wash over him. Then he took the bracelet from her trembling fingers and removed the engagement ring. The diamond sparkled in the overhead light as he took her left hand and slid it onto her finger. Instead of looking at the ring, she looked down at him, drowning in the love she saw in his sparkling eyes.
He stood and kissed her deeply for several minutes before swinging her into his arms and carrying her up the stairs.
Sheba’s nails clicked as she trotted behind them into Matt’s bedroom. Poofy lay in the center of the bed, already having decided to make Matt’s bed his new throne. Startled, he leaped to the floor where, amazingly, both he and Sheba lay down and curled up only a few feet from each other.
Moments later, her dress and his tuxedo were scattered all over the floor. They lay naked in each other’s arms in the center of the bed. Matt was about to kiss her again when Sheba made a rumbly sound. They both looked over at Poofy and Sheba, then back to each other and froze.
Matt snorted. “It’s like making love in front of our children.”
A sudden worry took hold, and she tensed. That was something they hadn’t talked about yet. Children. She wanted them but didn’t know if he felt the same.
“D-do you—”
“Want children?” he interrupted. “With you, I want it all.”
He pressed his mouth to her lips, tangling his tongue with hers until she was writhing with the unquenched need to have him deep inside her.
Sliding her hands down his back, she reveled in the rippling play of thick muscle, loving the way his large body covered her petite frame, the feel of his weight atop hers, his strong arms around her.
His body pulsing inside her.
Large hands cupped her breasts as he suckled and licked her nipples into jutting peaks of pleasure. He nudged her legs apart, and she guided him inside her, urging him on until he was buried deep within her pulsing heat.
She clasped his head, locking gazes with his. Then she pulled him down for a deep kiss and made love to the first, and last, love of her life.

K-9s are a highly specialized component of law enforcement that few officers are blessed to be a part of and pose challenges most of us never encounter on the job.
