RUIN (Kenshaw Legacy Book 1) Page 14

by Piper Frost

“Nope,” he says, shaking his head. “That’s not how this works. You hold onto that. The money will work out, don’t worry about it.”

There’s a noise in the hallway and around the corner comes Gray, looking like absolute hell. “This smells...awesome.” His voice sounds like death.

Paige snorts out a laugh. “Wow, did you just get up?”

“Shut it.” Gray falls to a chair next to his mom and she piles his plate full of food.

When he looks at me, I nod, and he does the same. The guy’s hungover as hell and I wonder if his parents know. I glance at her dad and he won’t take his eyes from his plate. He has to know. I silently eat, observing a Kenshaw family dinner and it’s not so bad. Way better than mine ever were. I feel awkward as the outsider, but more welcome than I do with my dad.

When her mom serves dessert I smile. “Do you guys eat like this every day?” I whisper to Paige while her siblings fight over the bigger piece of pie and ice cream.

“Yep. They’re all about family dinners. Phones go in there,” she says and points to a bowl across the room. “And we all have to talk to each other. They aren’t terrible, I guess. Why? Is a family meal like this out of your realm?”

I just shrug and push pie into my mouth. I don’t have a problem telling Paige things about myself, but I’m not interested in sharing with her family. Paige takes my plate to the sink and I stand to help but Gray stops me.

“You're a guest here. You don’t clean dishes,” Gray says. “Anyway, that’s this turd’s job.” He grabs the little boy’s shoulders and steers the kid toward the sink. “You guys hanging out tonight? You and Paige?” He shoves his hands in his pockets and leans against the door frame.

“Yeah.” I stare at him a minute. “You okay with that?”

He nods. “Absolutely, man. You know I feel like shit for last night, right?”

“Good.” I smirk. “Water under the bridge, okay?”

“Yeah.” He pushes off the wall. “Ma! Bobby just called, we’re headin’ out to work on his truck!”

“I thought you had the flu?” She walks into the room with her arms crossed over her chest and glares at him like she can shoot lasers from her eyes.

“Miracle food, man.” He walks by and hugs her briefly before he keeps walking out the door. “See ya, Sterling!”

“Bye,” I mumble then look down at their mom. She’s really short. Paige is petite, but not as short as her mom.

“If I find out you give my little girl alcohol, like her stupid brother, I will take your ballllll-” She stops when Leena walks into the room.

“Geeze, what’d you do?” Leena asks me, only knowing her mom’s pissed by that look on her face.

“Nothing. Dishes. Now,” her mom says and I’m grateful when Paige walks into the room.

“Hey,” she chirps. “Ready to go?” She’s got on the shortest cut off jean shorts I've seen on a girl and a tank top with a hot pink bra thing under it. And to top it off? Her boots. Always those boots.

“The hell are your clothes?” her dad snaps, walking into the room. She smiles at him.

“These are clothes, daddy.” She shrugs. “It’s hot outside.”

“Those are underwear. Go change.” He glares at me then watches her storm back up the stairs. I wanted to watch her walk up the stairs to see how good her ass looked in those shorts, but I’m not willing to have my balls handed to me tonight by her parents.

Paige stomps down the steps three awkwardly silent minutes later with a pair of coveralls and a t-shirt that I swear Gray wore last week.

“Better?” The attitude coming off her is almost comical.

“Thank you. You two have a good night. And it’s a school night, so no later than ten.”

Ten. I can work with ten I guess.

“Thank you for dinner,” I call out, hoping her mom heard me wherever she might be in this house. Probably sharpening some knives somewhere. “That was bad,” I say the second we get outside. “So bad.” I crack up.

She giggles and takes my hand in hers. “It was not.” I open the door to my truck and she turns and faces me before she gets in. “Thank you.” She moves to her tiptoes and pushes her lips against mine. It’s a sweet kiss, and I want more, but definitely not while outside her house. As soon as we’re away from the house, she huffs. “Thank god,” she mumbles, then unbuckles her seatbelt and starts shimmying out of her coveralls. Her pants drop to the floor and the t-shirt is next. She’s laughing like crazy when she adjusts the shorts and tank top she’s still got on. “I hate his rules.”

I laugh and shake my head. “Your dad will kill me for this, Paige. You look good either way.” I give her leg a squeeze, though I want to touch way more than that.

“Okay, it’s officially time to stop talking about my dad.” She reaches out and turns up the radio when I park at the lake.

“So.” I look her over when we get out. “Are you going to swim...or? ‘Cause that outfit tells me you didn’t bring a suit.”

“I didn't, no.” She looks down at herself then her sparkling eyes hit mine. “Guess we’ll just have to strip.” She takes off in a run, tossing layers of clothes as she goes and screaming when she jumps into the water.

We’ve done this. Except last time she had clothes on. I like this version better. And I brought swim trunks, but if she’s naked... I yank them off and jump in. “Fuck!” I holler at how cold it is. The nights are getting cooler. “You don’t think your brother will show up, do you?” I glance toward my truck.

“Who cares,” she says, laughing and swimming over to me. She starts going in circles around me, the water line right above her tits. “Plus, it’s not like he hasn’t skinny dipped in here before.”

  Hell.

“That don’t mean I want him to catch me in the lake naked with his sister. Besides, he’d be the type to steal our clothes. I can’t take you home naked.”

“The clothes I have to wear home are in the car anyway.” She splashes me and laughs when it hits my face. “Sorry,” she giggles.

I grab her wrist and pull her toward me. “Today sucked without you.” I’m careful where I put my hands, but when her legs wrap around my stomach I almost lose my will. I wouldn’t do that to her though. Even if she wanted it.

“But you’re here now.” She presses a kiss to my nose. “That’s what matters, right?” She pushes her lips to each of my cheeks. “You and me.” Her eyes lock on mine and her fingers rub the back of my neck, right at my hairline.

“You’re all that matters.” I lean in and kiss her slow, trying to keep my hands in place at her back.

She wraps her arms around my neck, her tits pushing against me as she deepens the kiss. I hold her tight while holding on to every ounce of self-control I have. Her hands hold my face and she pulls back and looks into my eyes.

“Have I ever showed you the guest house?” she whispers, grinning.

“I don’t think I’ve gotten the tour yet.” I let her go, wanting whatever view I can get when she gets out of the water.

She slowly walks out of the water like she knows what she’s doing. I believe her when she says she’s a virgin, but she knows how to tease. She’s perfect. Fucking perfect and I promised myself I wouldn’t touch her until ‘it’s right’. I don’t even know what that means. I guess it means I want her to more than like me. It’s sudden and seems insane, but I’m fucking crazy about her. When all I do is think about Paige, I know that means she’s the one for me. So I was hoping to be able to hold off until we’re in love or whatever, but while she struts across the grass, looking at me over her shoulder like she’s waiting for me to jump on her, my life becomes as hard as my dick. And now I'm just supposed to follow her with that thing bobbing between my legs like it’s not the stupidest looking appendage ever. I think God made dicks look so dumb to keep guys humble. Too bad it didn’t work.

I jog up behind her but if I grab her right now, I think we’d end up rolling around in the grass so I stop myself. She r
eaches back and takes my hand then grabs our clothes. I follow her down a short path that opens up right in front of a little yellow house. But I can’t keep my eyes off her ass, and the dimples in her back, and her legs. She’s got fucking legs. That’s what’s she’s known for most in our school. All the guys talk about it and it pisses me off, but I can’t lie and say I didn’t meet her legs before anything else the first day I saw her.

I wonder if I tell her I want her legs wrapped around my head if she’d freak out. That’s the whole reason I want to take this slow. I don’t want her to freak on me or regret doing something with me. She’s fucked around with other guys, sure, but I don’t want to be another one of those guys so I don’t want to fuck this up.

“My cousins used to live here but it’s been empty for a few years now.” She heads for a rock up front and grabs a key from underneath. “Gray’s turned it into his bachelor pad. I think my parents have forgotten about it.”

Unable to pull my eyes from her body, when she looks back at me wondering why I’m not responding, I blink. “Uh, cool.” Cool. How stupid. “Paige,” I say when she grabs my hand and walks backward into the house, pulling me with her. “I think we need clothes.”

I know we need clothes. Or waiting isn’t going to happen.

She looks down my body and grins, then rolls her eyes. “Fine,” she huffs then tosses me my shorts. “Has anyone ever told you you’re insanely hot. Like, it’s not fair.” She pulls her underwear on and yanks the tank top back over her, not bothering with her bra. And her nipples are hard as diamonds.

I laugh. “Yeah, well same goes for you. So I guess it’s a good fit.” I pull her to me. “Right?”

“The best,” she whispers, then reaches to her tiptoes and kisses me. “You want a drink? I think Gray and Bobby keep this place stocked.” She pulls back but grabs my hand as she heads for the kitchen, like she can’t stand the thought of not touching me.

“With what?” My eyes keep flashing down to her ass and as she opens the cupboard, I can’t help but put my hand on her lower back, my fingers spanning to her ass.

She knows what I’m doing, because after a brief pause, she arches her back the slightest and pushes her ass out. “Um, chips. Lots of junk food. Soda. Bottled water and maybe some beer, but I’m not sure. He used to try to keep it PG in case my parents stopped in.”

“I’m not really hungry,” I tell her not bothering to keep my eyes off her body. I want her and she knows that. I grab her hips from behind and press against her. She giggles, wiggling her ass and grinding against me the slightest before spinning in my arms and backing against the counter.

“Me either,” she whispers. Her eyes lock on mine and my hands hold onto her hips, then lift so she’s sitting on the counter. She laughs then she pulls me to her, pressing her lips to mine and letting me settle in between her thighs.

I hiss when her heels push against my legs to pull me against her and my hard dick sits between her thighs. I look down at where our bodies are touching then into her eyes.

“I really like you,” I tell her, trying to remind myself why I’m not going to push for anything more than just touching her.

“I really like you, too.” She grins, biting her lip and studying my face before pulling me back to her for another kiss.

Another round of her hands roaming my shoulders. My back. My arms. My chest. She hums and I move down her chin, down her neck, and before I get to her tits, I quickly stop myself. My hands were pulling down her tank top and I was a few centimeters from having her nipple out and in my mouth. I look into her face and she’s staring at me with want and wait but I can’t do it ‘cause the thought of never seeing her look like this again would kill me. At fifteen I had a girlfriend who thought she was ready for everything, so we did it. Then she went around telling people she only did it ‘cause I wanted it and I pressured her. That can’t happen with Paige. If that hadn’t happened to me, I probably wouldn’t be so fucked up over this right now.

“We going too fast?” I ask, trying not to let on to how heavily I’m breathing.

She takes a deep breath and covers her face with her hands. “Oh my god,” she groans then peeks through her fingers at me. “I’m sorry,” she says, giggling. “I don’t... Maybe we shouldn’t go further, because...” She looks down at my erection and licks her lips then nods. “Yeah.” She pants and chuckles. “Shit.”

I take a wide step back and lift my hands. “It’s cool,” I quickly tell her, watching her cheeks turn redder and redder. “You want to swim? We can go swim. Or talk? We can talk.” I’m nervous she’s going to ask me to take her home. Nervous she’s going to feel pressured into something I’m not trying to do.

“I lose my mind around you,” she whispers, hopping off the counter and adjusting her shirt. “It feels right, but I do. I completely forget everything and just...” She shrugs. “Everything feels so right.” She walks over to me and kisses my cheek. “But thank you.” She heads for the fridge and pulls it open for a bottle of water. “Want one?”

“Thanks.” I catch the bottle she tosses and watch her shy away from me, which isn't like her. “Sutton’s gonna be around next weekend. Maybe we can bring him and your little brothers and sister swimming.”

“That sounds fun.” Her eyes are on the floor, twisting the bottle in her hands. “I’m not going to know what to do,” she finally says and looks at me. “For...sex. I mean...I don’t know what you do...”

“Uh, yeah, okay. No big deal, ‘cause we’re not even going to...sex. We aren’t having sex. Not today. Or ever. Not not ever, but not today.” Now my face is as red as hers and when we look at each other, we both start to laugh. “Fuck.” I grab her hands and pull her toward the small couch. I sit, grinning over at her. “I want you, really, really bad, Paige. But I just think that can wait. Ya know? Right?”

She smiles and nods slowly. “I do. I appreciate it and I think it makes me like you even more. It also makes me want you more, though. I don’t not want sex. But I’ve saved it for so long. And I...I do want it, but now I’m scared because I don’t know what I’m doing and what if I screw it up and I’ve been waiting so long and holding off so long that maybe waiting more is fine.” She groans and rests her head in her hands.

I’m so busy envisioning her straddled over my lap and rocking her hips back and forth while I’m inside her that I don’t move to comfort her until she looks back at me confused. My girlfriend likes me because I never want to have sex with her. Awesome. And it makes her horny. Even more awesome. So to turn her on, I have to not fuck her. Fan-fucking-tastic.

“Yeah. I mean no. You wouldn’t screw anything up.” Except maybe me. “But we’ve only been official a day.” I chuckle. “Let’s just makeout?” I suggest, hoping we can keep it at that.

Fuck. I almost had her tit out and in my mouth earlier.

“Yeah.” She grins and pushes her lips to mine and as soon as she shifts on the couch to get a better angle, the front door shoots open and Gray’s standing there with a shocked look on his face.

“Fuck, sorry!” He cackles and instead of leaving like he needs to, he walks in and heads for the kitchen. “You should have locked that, sis!”

Paige groans and grabs a blanket from the couch. “I thought you were working on Bobby’s truck tonight!” she yells, her cheeks pink.

Bobby walks in the front door shaking his head and two girls from the dance team walk in after them. “Sterling.” He nods at me and I shift on the couch, hoping to hide my erection. I give him a salute, but when he looks at Paige, he looks angry. “Don’t look like you’re stayin’ out of trouble, P.” His eyes flash to me but are back on her just as quickly.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” She watches the girls head for the kitchen and shakes her head. “What happened to working on your truck?”

“Truck’s fixed. All we were doin’ is finishing my lift kit.” A grin slips onto his face and I start to laugh.

  “How high did you go?
I ask, standing when it’s safe for my dick.

When me and Bobby start talk about lifting his truck, Paige walks away. I like to hang out with my friends, but I’d rather be with Paige right now. I track her down when she comes out of the bathroom and I hold out her clothes.

“Let’s go swimming before you gotta get home.”

“Sorry about that. I honestly thought they wouldn’t be out here tonight.” She takes her shorts and pulls them on.

Gray rounds the corner. “Dad see you leave the house like that?” he asks, a soda can in his hand and a girl on his arm.

“Nope. And you better not tell him either. How’s that hangover of yours?” She takes my hand and grins at her brother when he chuckles and shakes his head. “We’re going swimming.”

I follow her out the door but they’re not far behind. This time I leave my clothes on and when I come up for air, I see headlights pulling up next to me. Paige jumps onto my back and I kiss her cheek but look back toward the car. Three people get out and when I see one’s Ammo, I go stiff.

“Muthafuckas!” Kirby yells, running toward the lake before jumping in.

“Shit,” I hear Gray bitch. “Who the hell invited you guys?” he yells over to them then glances at me. He’s trying to play it off as a joke, but I think he means it. Because he just pushed the girl off him and is wading toward land and heading for Ammo before he gets to the water.

“Just stay with me,” Paige whispers in my ear, her grip around me tightening.

“Your mom,” Ammo says in response to what Gray asked him and I start to growl, really hating him. Hating someone on the team makes things hard, but I fucking hate him.

Paige’s hand covers my mouth and she starts to nibble on my ear.

“You’re going to get me hard again,” I quietly scold her.

“Will it make you not want to murder him?” She giggles, licking my neck.

“I don’t know what I want when you do that.” I tilt my head so she doesn’t stop, but when her fingers pinch my nipple, I draw the line. Bursting into laughter, I dunk us, kissing her as soon as we’re under the water. “You are a troublemaker,” I say as we come up for air.
