Jake: The Hottest Guys You'll Love to Love (Best of the Bad Boys Book 1)

I looked around at all the people sitting in the pretty chairs on the pretty lawn watching us. Jacob and Brock had made it. Neither of them had brought a girl…I wasn’t happy about that since I saw my sister eye-balling both of them when they walked in. Camille and Cat had hit it off and Cat had asked her to be her maid of honor. I could only hope that she would be so busy with her maid of honor duties that she wouldn’t have time for the Vegas boys at the reception.
District Attorney Pope was there with his wife. He and Cat kept in touch after Vegas. I think the poor guy was sorely disappointed that Cat’s father had turned out to be Dominic Vitucci. Those two had a long, arduous relationship. I can’t say that after I found out exactly who Dominic was and what he did, I was too happy either…but you can’t really choose your family. So far he’d been good to her and I hadn’t had to kill him.
I got my teeth fixed and my head healed up and my hair grew back so I looked pretty for the wedding pictures. I wrestled with what the doctor told me as I healed and one day I woke up and made the heart-wrenching decision that he was right and my fighting career was over. My vision was pretty fucked up. I could see, but not from the sides where most punches were going to come from. I didn’t want to walk around for forty years with dementia either. Once I finally admitted I couldn’t fight anymore, I had to think about what I did want to do. I was helping Tim out with the training at our gym when the man who owned it put it up for sale. I knew what I wanted to do as soon as I heard that. I bought the gym and Tim and I were working on starting our own MMA club in Austin like the one the guys had in Vegas.
Guzman was arrested that night in Vegas, but Pope couldn’t charge him with my assault because it had happened in Mexico. He tried to charge him with attempted kidnapping of Cat, but that turned out to be a he said/she said kind of case that he knew he could never win. So before Cat and I even got back to Texas, Arturo Guzman was back in Ciudad Victoria running his Cartel. I hate the idea that he’s out there and I never know when he is going to show back up, but Cat and I have done our best to not let it rule our lives. Besides, every once in a while I catch a glimpse of a big Sicilian guy or two watching the house. Maybe that should bother me…but you can’t pick your in-laws either.
The music started playing and I watched my little sister come down the aisle towards us. She looked beautiful and she looked happy. She never told me what happened to her in New York, but whatever it was, she seemed to have finally overcome it. She stepped up next to us under the arbor and the wedding march began to play. Everyone stood up as my beautiful bride made her descent on the arm of a notorious gangster. One thing no one would ever be able to say about Cat and Conan Reagan was that our lives were boring or mundane. Did I mention I fucked her in the broom closet of the reception hall right before she put on her dress for the ceremony?
