Hades' Flame (Devils Rejects MC Book 1)

Why did I have to open my mouth?
I hear Danny’s cell phone go off and a few minutes later he comes into the bedroom. He doesn’t even look at me as he goes to the closet and starts throwing on clothes.
When he grabs his cut off the bedpost his eyes finally meet mine. He looks pissed off. Its my fault. I did this. I hurt him.
I didn’t want to.
I only wanted to be honest with him, but maybe while he had his dick in me shooting his sperm into me wasn’t the best time.
“Are you leaving?”
“Got some shit I need to handle. I’ll be back. Keep the doors locked.”
He starts out of the room and I scramble from the bed, not caring that I lose the sheet on the way.
I grab his arm in the hallway and if looks could kill, I’d be dead right now. “Danny!” his dark eyes narrow in on my hand on his arm. So many emotions are flashing across his face right now.
Anger.
Betrayal.
Sadness.
I might as well be with the hurt in his eyes dancing behind the anger. Seeing the lost expression on his face, knowing I put it there crushes me.
“Don’t walk away mad at me.”
“I’m not mad, Sara. I’m hurt. Now let me go.” He jerks his arm away and grabs his keys from the kitchen counter. “Don’t wait up,” he snarls.
When I hear his bike roar out of the driveway and down the road, I fall apart.
Danny just walked out on me on our wedding night, no less.
I gave up everything to be with him and at the first sign of trouble, he up and leaves me. What kind of shit is this?
I don’t deserve this.
I won’t put up with it. Danny may have thought I’d be a docile little wife, but I won’t take his shit.
I have the blood of a rebel running through my veins. I’m nobody’s bitch. Even as I think the thoughts though, tears burn at the corners of my eyes and I go back to the bedroom, remembering the love we made, the promises we shared. How did our love go wrong so fast?
Picking his t-shirt up from the floor, I bring it to my nose, inhaling his scent. I slip it on over my head and curl up in bed.
“Don’t wait up.” I replay his words…our fight in my head.
Danny and I have never fought before.
This is no way to start our marriage.
I get back up from the bed once I am done feeling sorry for myself.
I thought long and hard about what my mother would do if she were in my shoes. She sure as shit wouldn’t lay here crying herself to sleep.
I go into the kitchen and find my bag. Pulling out my phone I fire off a text.
Flame: I need a favor.
Cupid: What you need?
Flame: Come get me and take me to Danny.
Cupid: You want me to lose my head or my dick? Not a good idea, darlin’.
Flame: Why? Is he with someone?
Cupid: I like you, but I can’t be going behind Prez’s back like this.
Flame: Please.
He doesn’t answer right away. I toss my phone on the couch cushion, feeling defeated. I would call a cab but hell, I don’t even know our address, let alone how to get to the clubhouse.
My phone pings.
Cupid: You’re lucky I’m a dumbfuck with a soft spot for love. Be there in twenty. Be ready.
Chapter 11
Danny
I hated walking out on Sara, but I needed space to get my head straight. She fucking took me by surprise. I’m not mad at her for wanting to wait. I’m pissed that she didn’t come to me and tell me how she was feeling before. We’re supposed to be a team.
I don’t guess I have a right to be angry when I have secrets of my own. The money I stuck in the safe an hour ago is taunting me. Calling me a fucking hypocrite. Sara was upfront with me. I’m more pissed at myself than her if I’m being honest.
I should tell her the truth but I’m a pussy. A fucking chicken shit. Scared of my own wife. Well…scared of losing her, but I may have just done that anyway by walking out.
I’m an idiot.
Taking a swig of my beer, I feel a hand on my shoulder.
“Need something stronger to take the edge off?” MaryAnn, one of the club hangarounds, runs her red nails along my neck, and up to my mouth. “I could get that scowl off your face.”
“Not interested,” I bark, grabbing her fingers and bending them back.
“Ouch. No need to be so rough.” She rubs and massages her fingers.
“Get out of my face. Go find someone else to latch onto.”
She laughs. Her big tits jiggle, nearly spilling out of the black leather bikini top she’s wearing. MaryAnn stuck around after I took over. She was one of Marek’s playthings and was hurt when she learned I wouldn’t be carrying on the tradition of her fucking the club Prez.
She’s been with the club for a few years and loves being of service to the members. She knows my men and what they like.
Plus, the guys love to titty fuck her, so I kept her around. She’s always been good people. But right now, she is on my shit list.
“So touchy. I’m beginning to think you like dick. Didn’t you get married today? And here you are in a room full of hard up cocks. What’s a matter? Won’t any of your men let you shove it in their ass?” She smirks, and I lose my cool.
I push back my stool and get up in her face. “Let’s get one thing straight, bitch. Only pussy I want or need is at home waiting for me. My wife has pussy so good I waited nearly six months to fuck her. In those six months not once did my dick stray. So what makes you think I would ever stick my dick in your cum bucket of a snatch?” I’m so pissed spit flies out of my mouth and lands on her face.
She makes a face but doesn’t back down.
“I know you don’t want to fuck me, Hades. What I want to know is if you love her so much what are you doing here, drowning your sorrows on your wedding night. I simply wanted to get a rise out of you, so you’d get that damn chip off your shoulder and it worked.” She smiles at me. “So, I will ask you again. What are you doing leaving your pretty little bride home alone?”
“I’d like to know the answer to that?” Sara’s voice makes my neck snap sideways.
Cupid is standing behind her looking guilty as fuck.
Traitorous bastard.
“Hey, Cupid. Longtime no fuck.” MaryAnn saunters over to him.
“Looking good tonight, baby doll. Whatta ya say you and me head upstairs.”
MaryAnn winks at me as she leads Cupid to her room.
I owe her an apology for how I spoke to her, but that can wait. Right now, I need to make shit right with my wife.
Fuck me. Sara looks so damn sad. Her eyes are swollen with tears. I look her over taking in her appearance. She’s got on a pair of denim cutoffs with my t-shirt and her property patch on over it.
I look down at her flipflops. “You rode here with Cupid with Goddamn Daisy Dukes and flipflops on, Sara! Don’t ever fucking do that again. You could have fucking burned your leg or fucking lost a foot had he wrecked. Don’t ever put yourself in danger like that again.” Tears well up in her eyes. “C’mere.” I pull her into me, breathing in the honeysuckle scent of her hair.
“I’m sorry I left. I shouldn’t have bailed on you. I’m a dick. Can you forgive me?”
She swallows hard but nods into the crook of my neck as her tears rain down on me. “Easy, sweetheart. I’m sorry. I didn’t mean it.” I rub soothing circles on her back up under her vest.
“Don’t ever give up on me, Sara. You’re my Flame. The only thing that keeps my fire burning. You make me the man that I am. I didn’t mean to hurt you.”
“But you did,” her soft voice whispers into my neck.
“I’m sorry, Sara. I won’t do it again. I swear.” As I say the words I pray it is a promise I don’t have to break.
Chapter 12
Sara
After our fight, Danny and I stayed in his room at the clubhouse. There isn’t much
to the room. It’s quite small, only holding a full-sized bed that takes up much of the space and a three-drawer chest. I can’t help but smile when I see a framed photograph of me and CT on the top. There is a small bathroom with a standing shower attached off the side where you would think there would be a closet. Not exactly a romantic start to our marriage but I did marry an outlaw. It can’t always be sunshine and roses. I know that. Life isn’t a fairytale. But part of me had thought Danny and I were living in our version of one. We aren’t perfect, and we have a lot to learn and a lot of growing to do. All that matters though is that we do it together.
I don’t know who that MaryAnn chick was last night, but I think I like her. The way she was with Danny, getting him to open up and apologize to me, I want to bake her a cake.
Danny left early this morning with Cupid and Boogeyman. He said if I wanted to stay here I can or I can have Uno drive me home. I guess he has been assigned to be my shadow while Danny isn’t around and drive me around until I get a car later this week. We can’t exactly cart a baby around on a motorcycle.
My mom wouldn’t let my dad buy me a car. Said I would use it to take off and see Danny and she was probably right.
I’ve been laying here for an hour contemplating getting up since I had my video call with CT and Morgan. She says he is doing great, but I really do miss the little guy. I can’t wait to get him here with me where he belongs.
My stomach growls, signaling it is time to get up and find my way to the kitchen. I’m starving. I didn’t really eat anything but some wedding cake yesterday.
I put my property patch cut on just to be on the safe side. I haven’t met all the club members and I would hate for some poor fool to get his ass kicked because I wasn’t making it clear I am a claimed woman.
I find the kitchen and MaryAnn is washing dishes. “Well look what the cat dragged in. Good morning, sugar. You missed breakfast, but I can whip you up an omelet real fast if you like.”
“You don’t need to go to any trouble for me. I can just make myself a sandwich or something.”
“Suit yourself.” She smiles as she returns to doing her dishes and I go over to the fridge and start setting out meats and cheeses. There’s a jar of pickles and there is a label on them that reads: Property of Reaper.
I snort and pop the lid off.
“Honey, I wouldn’t touch those,” MaryAnn tells me, drying her hands on a dishtowel.
“Why not? It’s just pickles.” I frown.
“Yeah, but those are Reaper’s pickles. That man is real particular about his food and who touches it. I swear I saw him count them one day.” She rolls her eyes. “Here. Get yours from this one.” She goes over to the fridge and gets another jar I hadn’t noticed from the back.
“Thanks.”
“No problem. You stick with me today and I will have you knowing the ins and outs and the dos and don’ts in no time.”
“Sounds good.” I smile at her and take a bite of my pickle.
She finishes up her chore and joins me at the table in the corner.
“So, what exactly is your role around here?”
“Well, I guess you want my story, huh?”
“If you are willing to tell it to me.”
“Well, about three years ago, I went to a biker party with my ex. He was a real piece of shit, but I loved his motorcycle and I thought he loved me. Turns out he owed this guy Marek a lot of money. And well, Marek thought I was pretty. Said he’d clear Bobby’s debt if I slept with him. I agreed because again I thought I loved him and he loved me. I’d done anything to get him out of trouble. The next morning when I woke up, Bobby was gone, and I had nowhere to go. Marek gave me a place with his club and the life kinda grew on me. I take care of the men and they take care of me.”
I look MaryAnn over. She is a beautiful woman. Thick curves, big boobs, luscious lips, and baby blue eyes. Any man would be taken in by her. Well, at least not my man, but the other men here.
We talk a bit more and I tell her about CT. About how my life has changed for the better since I became his mom. He is always so happy and full of life and wonderment.
I’m finding myself curious about Danny’s club, so I agree to hang with MaryAnn.
I spend the rest of my day following her around as she does her chores, changing bed sheets in the guest rooms and filling me in on the club members. Telling me some facts I would rather not hear…like their kinks in the bedroom. Boogeyman likes to choke his women. MaryAnn calls it erotic asphyxiation.
I don’t know if I would like that, but thankfully I’m not looking to be in Boogeyman’s bed.
Chapter 13
Danny
I find Sara back at our place curled up on the couch, asleep. Some chick flick is playing on the screen and there is a tub of Ben & Jerry’s melting on the coffee table. Quietly, I take her spoon from the ice cream and put it in the kitchen sink, then put what’s left of it in the freezer. I have a surprise, but don’t want to wake her. I swear she looks like an angel. All she needs is a halo on her head.
Grabbing a beer from the fridge, I then go kick back in the recliner and start channel surfing.
Every few minutes, I look back over at my wife, my sleeping beauty still not believing that she is truly mine.
I fucked up last night. I know I overreacted. Sometimes I forget how young Sara is. She has been through so much already and she handles it all with grace.
Hell, I have seen how Terror’s old lady acts when he pisses in her Cheerios. That bitch is crazy. She found out he went to the strip club a few months back and fucking cut the nipples out of all his t-shirts. She gave no damn explanation but we all got a damn good kick out of it for about a week. She hid his bank cards on him and changed the pin numbers on all their accounts to keep him from being able to buy new shirts. Sure, we could have helped the brother out, but it was funny as fuck. I snort and have a chuckle to myself thinking about it now. I’ll have to make sure I tell him to keep Amber away from Sara.
I don’t need her giving her any ideas. Amber is the queen of pranks.
One time she put cling wrap under all the toilet seats at the clubhouse. It would have been funny if it wasn’t on chili night.
I swear the prospect who had to clean that shit up hasn’t been right since and MaryAnn refuses to cook chili now, which sucks because she makes damn good chili.
Sara starts to stir.
Getting up, I go down on my knees by the couch, placing a whisper of a kiss on her lips. When I pull back she’s smiling at me.
“Hi.”
“Hey, did you enjoy your nap?”
“It was nice, but I miss my napping buddy.”
“I know you do, but he’ll be here before you know it and you’ll be begging for some alone time.” I laugh.
I get up out of the floor and take a seat next to her, putting her feet in my lap and rubbing them as she yawns.
“I have a surprise for you.”
Her brows knit together as she stares at me. “You do?”
“Yup.” I pop the P. “Look in the driveway.”
Sara hops up immediately, running to the side door that leads to the carport.
“No way!” She looks back at me. “It’s mine?”
“Paid cash for it a few hours ago.” I took the money Tiny gave me and decided to treat Sara to a new car. She’s going to need it to take CT places and if she is serious about going to college.
Cupid gave me hell today about walking out on her last night and losing my cool. I needed it. Its why he is my VP, the brother gives good council. Sara may not want another baby right now and I need to respect that and give her time to grow. She’s younger than me and not been away from the safety net of her family until now. Here I went all caveman on her ass, like she is supposed to marry me and become barefoot and pregnant within day one of marriage. It wasn’t fair or realistic of me when she is already raising my nephew as her own.
Sara needs to know that I respect her mind and her body.

I can’t believe Danny bought me a black Dodge Challenger with silver racing stripes on the hood.
“Babe, it’s too much. It must have costs a fortune.”
I grin at him as I adjust the driver seat.
“You look real upset about it,” he teases then shoots me a wink. “Nothing is too good for my girl.”
“Wanna go for a ride?” I wiggle my brows at him, itching to get on the road.
“Yeah, let’s go grab dinner.”
“I’m driving!” I shout.
“Of course you are. Just take it easy there, hotrod. Let me lock up.”
I grin and turn the key. Damn, this car purrs. I can’t resist revving the engine. The neighbors probably hate me right now, but I don’t care. I am too damn excited.
The neighborhood our mint green cottage style house is in is very quiet. Safe. Not where you’d expect a MC Prez to live. We even have a white picket fence.
Danny climbs in the passenger side. “Buckle up,” he orders me.
“Yeah, yeah.”
“Sara, you gotta take your safety seriously.”
“I know that. Calm down. Why did you get me this car if you don’t even trust me to drive it? Sheesh.” I shake my head and adjust the mirrors before backing down the driveway. “Where to?”
“Take a left at the end of the street. Then go straight until you see a sign for Billy’s BBQ.”
I follow Danny’s directions and we end up at a rib place. I’m not big on ribs but I won’t complain. There is no way I can protest when he just bought me a freaking badass new car. I knew I was going to get something but never in my wildest dreams did I think he’d buy me this car. I thought maybe a Chevy Malibu, but not a flipping Challenger.
Danny laces his fingers with mine as we walk into the restaurant.
The hostess leads us to a booth then leaves our silverware and menus on the table. I notice she puts them on opposite sides like she expects me to sit away from my man. I don’t think so. I slide in first and Danny scoots in, putting one of his arms around me, while sharing his menu with me.
