Matt (Big Sky Lawmen Book 1)

“Not in a million years.”
Matt stood and headed out of his own office. He didn’t give a rat’s ass if Agent Lewis was offended by his rudeness or took the matter further, but he’d just stepped over the line. He was tempted to slam the door. It was glass; the slightest movement shook it which meant they’d be a mess that probably Matt and his officers would have to clean up.
“Hennessey, I apologize if I’ve upset you in anyway but could you step back in here so we can at least finish talking.”
Matt turned around. He was tempted to leave but realized that wouldn’t be very professional of him.
Matt returned to his desk to see Agent Lewis downing two antacids without water. He threw his head back, and Matt watched as his Adam’s apple bobbed up and down as he did his best to swallow them.
“I will not involve Emily in this,” Matt said.
“I promise nothing will happen to her. And after all, we are looking the other way about her soliciting men for sex.”
Matt opened his mouth about to tell him yet again, she hadn’t taken the money, so she technically hadn’t broken any laws. Well, if you discounted the law against stealing his heart. Matt closed his mouth. He’d let agent man continue.
“She’d pose as a girl looking for some work with Vincent. She’d wear a wire, and we’d be able to hear if she needed help. This might be the last and only way to get to Mark Vincent and close all his drug and gambling related businesses down for good. I thought that’s what you wanted. Your county cleaned up.”
That’s exactly what Matt wanted but thinking about Emily even being in the same zip code as Vincent made his blood pressure rise. “I will not let Emily get hurt because you want to close out another case. I’m sorry but that’s how I feel.”
*****
Emily couldn’t stop thinking about Mia. Would she be okay?
What if she died? They’d only just reconnected. She’d phoned the hospital twice to check on her but had been told both times that Mia was comfortable, but there’d been no change in her condition.
She thought how she’d be able to assist victims like Mia once she became a lawyer. Yeah, maybe she’d be a victim’s advocate or whatever they were called and would work with women’s shelters.
Wow, she had figured out what type of law she wanted to practice, but unfortunately it had taken an old friend’s tragedy to set her on that path.
It was now close to 7 p.m., and Emily walked to the fridge and took out the pizza she’d bought for her and Matt. The doorbell rang, and Emily closed the fridge door and headed down the hallway. When she opened the front door, she smiled because there Matt stood with another bunch of flowers in his hand.
“Come in, I just took our meal out of the fridge. Hope you like pizza?”
“I love it, but first I’d like to give you a hug and kiss just in case I didn’t do it enough to let you know I’m so happy you’re okay.”
“Yeah, I think I can let you do that.”
His mouth went on hers as he pulled her in close. He moved his hands from her waist and put them on both her ass cheeks. They pulled away, and she looked up at him.
“This is kind of awkward, don’t you think?” asked Emily.
“What us kissing, holding one another?”
He gave her ass another squeeze. “Yeah, you think anyone would believe us? I wonder if any other couples met like this.” He rubbed his nose on hers. “You haven’t started cooking that pizza yet, have you?”
“No, why?”
He didn’t respond but simply scooped her up in his arms. “Which way is the bedroom?”
Emily pointed to the left.
“Hope it’s not far,” he said, heading that way.
“You’re one of a kind, you know that?”
Once in the bedroom Matt placed her gently on the bed and took off his t-shirt.
Emily leaned back on her elbows and admired the view. Yeah, she had thought it was crazy that a guy like Matt would have to pay a woman to have sex with him, and now she knew that wasn’t the case. He unzipped his jeans and then pushed them down his legs. She lifted her foot and suddenly felt playful. She wiggled her toes inside the slit of his boxer shorts. He was hard again and she prayed that this time they’d actually do something about it.
“Hey, your foot’s cold,” Matt said.
“Sorry about that. You want to know what I can do?”
“I can’t wait to find out?”
Emily placed her feet on either side of his shorts, gripped the waistband with her toes and pulled them over his hips.
“If you had done that a couple of nights ago I would have assumed you learned that trick on the job,” Matt said.
Emily laughed as Matt stepped out of his shorts and tossed everything to one side.
“Now we need to get you out of those clothes because I don’t think I can wait much longer to lavish you with love and be inside you.” Matt got on the bed and pulled her t-shirt over her head. She hadn’t bothered to put a bra on when she stepped out of the shower thirty minutes ago. After all, she hadn’t seen the point. She had a feeling that at some time in the evening they’d end up doing this. Though she hadn’t counted on it being before they’d even eaten.
Her nipples were already taut from just seeing Matt strip off in front of her, and right now her pussy had a beat that matched the one in her chest. Plus, her panties were downright wet and uncomfortable.
Matt circled each of her breasts with his index finger before rolling her right nipple between his thumb and middle finger. She made a sound deep in her throat, half groan, half murmur. She’d never heard herself do that before, but no man had touched her in quite the same way as Matt.
He kissed her while making a trail down her belly with the outer edge of his hand and then popped open the button on her jeans. Seductively and painfully slowly, he slid the zipper open and peeled back either side of the blue material as if he was opening a birthday gift. Not his but hers.
Emily closed her eyes as he pushed his warm hand inside and rested it first on her belly and then her mound. The wetness in the crotch of her panties grew more uncomfortable by the second.
“Lift your cute butt,” he whispered in her ear. His breath tickled as it brushed across her skin. It was as if he sensed she needed to get out of her underwear and fast.
Emily lifted her hips, and Matt tugged her jeans down her legs, freed her ankles and let the pants slip to the floor.
She’d worn her high cut panties tonight. Yeah, she never felt comfortable in them, but had opted to wear them just for Matt. Guys loved those sorts of things, right? She rolled onto her left side hoping he’d see some of her butt cheeks. He rubbed her ass. Oh yeah, he’d noticed them all right.
“You like them?” she asked.
“I love them. Hey, you could get a rose tattoo on your butt like Mia. Emily rolled back to look at Matt. How did he know her ass was tattooed? He must have sensed she was feeling just a tad jealous right now.
“I know what you’re thinking, and no, I haven’t seen it in person. Well, okay I have.” He coughed and blushed. She loved when he did that. That had been one of the things that had made her fall for him that first night they’d met.
“I saw it when the nurses turned her over. It’s how I knew she wasn’t you, or you weren’t her. I’d recognize this cute butt of yours anyway.”
The man had a way of putting something wrong, right, and so quickly. Oh yeah, he’s a keeper.
“And not that I don’t like these on you, but I know I’m going to prefer seeing you without them.”
He grabbed the waistband and pulled them from her body. “Now if I don’t lavish you with some Matt loving and very soon, I’m going to be an unhappy man.”
She giggled when he lifted her foot and kissed the very tip of her toes. He turned his attention to the sole of her foot and then slowly his lips were on her calf and then her inner thigh.
“You’re going to spoil me,” Emily said.<
br />
“That’s the whole point.”
He touched her thigh, gently walking her fingers upward toward her mound. She parted her legs, hoping that’s what he wanted her to do.
Emily closed her eyes as he touched her folds, running his fingers along each crevice, playing with her clit and turning it into a sensitive bud. She ran her fingers down the quilt on the bed and rested her head back as she felt the first stirrings of an orgasm.
Man, oh man, this cowboy was good. His thumb pressed harder and he quickened the circles he made so Emily had no choice but to cry out when her climax hit.
She’d barely recovered from that when he slid his finger down close to her pussy opening and circled it to. Before she knew it, he’d slipped it into her. She moved her butt as he finger-fucked her.
Umm was all that would escape her lips. She moved down the bed some more. Matt kissed her belly as his finger-fucked her harder.
“You know how to…”
She didn’t get the last two words, spoil me, out before her climax hit again.
Emily looked up to see Matt sliding a condom on his cock and soon he was in between her legs and this was the moment she’d waited for since the night they’d meet at the hotel.
It was like she’d died and gone to heaven when his dick filled her and he began a steady thrust in and out.
Emily knew she shouldn’t be letting her mind drift at this point because this was all about her and Matt, but she couldn’t help but think if she hadn’t run into her old buddy Mia in the coffee shop, she would never have met this man. The one, who at this very moment was sending her hormones soaring, making her heart race, and her pussy, oh yeah, he was doing special things to that, too.
Emily traced the outline of Matt’s biceps as he graciously lifted his upper body off her as he thrust faster and harder. He was smiling at her. She took her hands from his arms and ran her fingers down his face, feeling stubble and sweat underneath their tips. How had she been lucky enough for this cowboy to stroll into her life? Not only walk into it, but he clearly felt the same way about her as she did him.
He was taking her closer to that edge of paradise. She lifted her butt to match his movements, bodies slapping into one another, her perspiration now blending with his sweat.
Matt let his body rest on hers as she put her legs around his ass and their bodies slid up and down, up and down. Now she could feel his breath on her cheeks, and felt the stubble on his chin graze her nose every so often. He whispered her name, and she ran her hands through his hair knowing she was about to climax like never before.
She cried out his name, gripping his shoulders as it reached a crescendo. She’d not only felt their union physically but mentally too. She was in love, and she only hoped that he was, too.
Chapter Seventeen
Matt wondered if the off the charts climax he’d just experienced had anything to do with the fact that he was with the woman of his dreams. He rolled off her and held his chest to get his breathing back to a sensible rate. Right now he could feel it pounding even behind his eyes, the blood rushing throughout his veins, even in his dick and balls. Oh, yeah, I feel pretty good right now. Relief at last. He hoped he’d never need to go cold turkey like he had, ever again.
Emily rested her head on his chest and circled his nipples with her pinkie. He wrapped his arm around her.
“Let’s eat the pizza in bed while we watch the sunset,” he said.
*****
Emily put the pizza in the oven while Matt poured himself a beer and Emily a diet soda.
“Hey, you want to see a photo of my nephew?” Matt asked her.
“I’d love to.”
Matt grabbed his cell phone and clicked on the photos he’d taken of the baby. He offered it to Emily. She put down her oven mitts and took it.
“Oh, he’s so cute, and he looks like you, especially around the eyes.”
“Yeah, he’s a Hennessy, that’s for sure. If you want I can take you to meet him and my sister one of these days.”
“I’d like that.”
Emily handed the phone back to Matt, slipped the oven mitts back on and took out their pizza. She cut it into squares and set it on a plate.
“You ready to head back to the bedroom? Oh, and we are going to eat this time, right?”
“Hey, you didn’t like the appetizer?” Matt asked.
“I loved it, but all that physical workout’s made me hungry.”
Matt carried the drinks, Emily the pizza. They sat on the bed just as the sun’s rays started to fade from the room. Both started to eat the pizza. Even a simple, store-bought one tasted like heaven right now.
“You know seeing the sun sparkling on the water the other day was sort of magical for me,” he said.
“I thought so too. How about I ask my uncle if we can use it again?”
“That sounds great and maybe I can do some fishing too.”
Just as he’d said that the phone rang. Emily reached across to the bedside table and picked up her cell phone.
Matt drank his beer and just looked out of the window until she was finished with her conversation.
“Great news, I got the job at the coffee shop,” Emily said.
“They don’t have need for another person, do they?”
“Why you know someone?” Emily asked,
“Yeah, me.”
“What a sheriff’s wages doesn’t pay enough these days?”
“They do, but I’m seriously thinking about quitting.”
“Why, what happened?”
“I had a little disagreement with an FBI agent.”
“You want to talk about it?”
“Actually it was over you.”
“Me…god, Matt, he wanted me arrested. That’s it, isn’t it?”
Matt shook his head. “He wanted you to go undercover to try and catch Mia’s boss. Most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard.”
“I’ll do it,” Emily said.
Matt sat up suddenly spilling some pizza sauce on his chest. “You will not.”
“Who are you do tell me what to do?”
Oh, this was bad. They were having their first argument but that meant they were really a couple, right?
“Emily, are you listening to yourself? You could be in danger.”
“Hey, for all we know he’s the one who hurt Mia. For her sake I’d like to do this.”
Matt got hold of Emily’s hand. Silly mistake because now they were both covered in pizza sauce.
“It would mean going undercover as a hooker.” Yeah, that had thrown her for a loop.
“I’ve done it before. You could be a client again, and maybe we could get some other guys to pose as customers too?”
Matt leaned back quickly forgetting there was a wooden headboard and bumped his head. She was onto something, but still he didn’t like the idea of her having contact with Vincent.
“I can do it. I mean even you thought I was really a hooker,” Emily said.
She made perfect sense. Brains and beauty, what guy could resist that combo? He’d simply been outsmarted.
“Please let me do this. I mean, you don’t have to quit your job, and we might nail a bad guy.”
He laughed. Nail a bad guy… she’d been watching one too many cop shows.
She was on her knees now, looking like a kid who’d just asked a parent for a new toy.
He tapped her on the nose. “You’d be under my constant supervision, and if I thought you were in any danger that would be the end of it, no questions asked, okay?”
She kissed him. Well, that had been worth saying yes to her if nothing else.
*****
Emily had never been in a sheriff’s office before. Well, if you didn’t count the time when she was eight and went along with her dad to report that her bike had been stolen from the neighborhood playground.
She was nervous when Matt took her through to meet Agent Lewis.
“So you and Ms. Stevens have known one another for a long time?”
he asked her.
“Yes, we went to school together and met up again in a coffee shop last week.”
He shuffled through some notes. “You understand what going undercover involves?”
“Yes, Matt -- Sheriff Hennessy’s filled me in.”
She glanced over at Matt, who stood leaning across a file cabinet. He winked at her as Agent Lewis got back to the notes in front of him.
“Sheriff Hennessy and some of the men in this department will pose as clients. You can tell Vincent that you have a whole bunch of regular customers, so he doesn’t pair you up with his real ones. Now, you’ll wear a wire whenever you’re with Vincent, and at any time you feel in danger we’ll give you a panic phrase to say that will tell us you need help.”
Emily nodded.
“Okay, so all we need you to do is go meet with Vincent, tell him your friend Mia recommended you, and that you’d like to start working for him. Any questions and you can direct them to Sheriff Hennessy.”
He shook a bottle of antacids and popped two into his mouth as Emily stood and Matt led her outside.
“You’re sure you’re ready to do this?” asked Matt.
“Positive.”
“Okay, let’s get a wire fitted to you, and you’ll be good to go.”
*****
Matt sat in his truck, his heart beating double time as he heard Vincent inviting Emily into his office.
“So you’re a friend of Mia Stevens?”
“Yes, we go back a long way, and just before she was beaten she told me to come see you.”
“Um, let me guess -- you’re also in her line of work?”
“Yes, that’s right.”
Matt smiled. His girl was doing just great so far.
“While I have lots of repeat clients already, Mia told me you can take my business further and even invest my money in some of your other enterprises for me.”
“Really.”
“She speaks very highly of you, and you sound like the sort of organization I’d like to partner with.”
He laughed. “Organization… I like that term. Okay, seeing how you know Mia I’m willing to think about taking you under my wing.”
“No, don’t let him think about it. Have him take the bait right now,” Matt said, under his breath. While he didn’t want Emily to put pressure on him and arouse his suspicion, at the same time he didn’t want this thing dragging on.
