I ran home and it was pouring. Just as I was about to fall asleep, the doorbell rang. I went and opened the door and there was a box. I opened it and there was a note with slime on it that said, “I will get you!” I could see glowing red eyes in the bushes so I ran back inside and locked the door. I also locked the windows and grabbed a flashlight. When I looked out the window I saw the ghost and he was banging on it.

So I got in my truck and I drove as fast as it could go. I stopped and looked in the woods and I saw the ghost when I used the flashlight. I drove away and it was raining so hard. I pulled over and to get a wooden plank. I got out of the car very slowly and put out the log. Then I turned the car around and looked but he was gone. Then I got back in the car and drove back home so I could go to sleep.

Later, I woke up because I heard the door close. I did not know where any hiding spots were so I hid behind the door. When he came in my room, I jumped on him, punched him, and kicked him until he disappeared.

And then I heard a rock hit my window. I looked outside and there he was but he just stood there. He pointed at me so I closed the blinds and stayed in the basement where I had a trap with a vacuum.

On the floor above me, I heard pots smash and things fall. I heard footsteps coming down the stairs. He opened the door where I put the trap and he was vacuumed up. Then I burned the vacuum.

ONE DARK, STORMY NIGHT, when I was in the cold dark castle bedroom on the eighth floor, I heard a noise. I would have gone to explore the unusual, uninviting and quite frankly bizarre noise, but in every horror movie that I’ve ever seen going to explore is never the best thing to do.

It wasn’t until I heard the noise about ten more times that I got my robe and slippers on, put my phone in my pocket, and started down the long spiral staircase all the way to the basement (leaving out I tripped on just about every single one of them). It wasn’t until I got to the basement door that I heard the noise again. I opened the door and walked down the creaky and loud stairs. I moved some dusty and lightweight boxes. Not caring enough to set them down gently, I threw them behind me. Once they were all out of sight I saw a mirror in their place. When I touched it, my hand went right through it. It felt like unwet water.

  What was it?

  Why was it there?

These questions may never be answered, but I had to know.

The next morning I woke up on the basement floor. I checked my phone. It was six o’clock in the morning! I had thirty minutes to get my makeup, hair, and clothes perfect for school. Just as I was putting on my favorite lip gloss, my mom yelled “Leana, breakfast!”

“Coming mom.” I put on one more coat of gloss, stuck it in my pocket, and walked down the stairs to the dining room table.

My mom said, “So Leana, how did you sleep?”

“Good!” I said as if I had seen nothing. I thought the topic was over but the topic was never over with my mom.

“I saw the basement door open,” my mom said.

Oh no! What if she saw it? What if she saw me? I thought

Well, even if she didn’t I was going to ask her anyway. I spent so much time thinking, I didn’t realize I had ten minutes to get to school. I ran down the hall, did a brief mirror check, said, “Bye, Mom,” and was gone.

But all the way to school I couldn’t figure out if the mirror was real or a dream…

ONE DARK, STORMY NIGHT a boy was sound asleep. His name was Josh. Lightning and thunder was like fire and ice happening every three to five seconds apart. Rain was hitting the window like it was music – pat, pat, patty, pat.

That morning Josh had a breakfast of eggs, bacon, and a glass of orange juice. His parents had coffee and two biscuits, but his dog had plain kibble with a few bacon bits mixed in as a treat. When he was eating, he heard the bus so he got dressed, packed his bag, and ran out the door.

Josh’s teacher’s name is Mrs. Doom. She looks like and old, moldy, five hour sun-dried prune on the hottest day of the year. After school I went to the woods to find some good wood for my dog’s doghouse but stumbled upon a cave with a weird sound coming from inside. Ccccccrrrrrkkkkkk. Ccccccrrrrrkkkkkk. I walked closer to the cave. As I did my hands started to swear and my legs started to shake but when I got to the mouth of the cave, I was silent. All I could hear was birds and woodpeckers.

  I waited a few more seconds…

  RRRROOOOARRRRR!

Josh screamed but couldn’t move. He was too scared. The monster kicked Josh’s dog throwing him about a mile away like a professional soccer player and at least fifty feet high. After, the monster picked up Josh. From the city of Toppleton, the people only heard Ahhhhhhhh! Booooom!

After a little while, about four days, some children found some bones at the bottom of a cliff and some giant footmarks on the top.

Now all of Josh’s friends, teachers, and parents don’t know anything about Josh’s location. They have heard screams and saw a bright lights falling off the cliffs in the shape of a boy. When police did try to find him by the cliff, they only found an arrow and a part of a sword.

Now the police think they know what happened to Josh. They told his parents this story: A long time ago there was a beast many have tried to kill for theirs and others’ safety. All have failed. That’s why we found this arrow and sword. More and more screams come from that forest and no screams or people were seen after looking for this beast.

Twenty years later, the police found the ‘beast’ file in their records and decided to take one last look at its contents. They found a picture half-buried in the dirt and it was a picture of the creature. They came up with these facts: thick skin, razor sharp teeth, moss growing to its back, and blood red eyes.

They never found the creature so make sure to lock your doors and windows because there is a beast still lurking…
