Call On Me
Page 22
“Wait. What?” A sob still shuddering in her chest, she jerked her head back.
Immediately he pushed her face back against his shoulder. “I love you, Ali. I know you don’t want things to change, I know you hate change. I promised it’d be all right, but I can’t hide my feelings any longer. I-”
“Ty!” She pushed against his chest, her heart pounding. “You love me?”
“Yes, and I’m so sorry. I had no idea you didn’t feel the same.” Pulling her back against him, he continued to rock her, his voice a little hoarse. “I love you, Ali. I’ve loved you since the day I first laid eyes on you in the school playground, only I didn’t know it then. But I do now.”
He loved her. Ghost loved her! Her heart leaped for joy, her mind sang, her body struggled for breath. Literally.
One almighty twist and she managed to put about two inches between them. The man had a grip like Hercules.
“Ghost!” She spat out what felt suspiciously like a bit of cat hair from her mouth. Seeing as he had five cats who lolled around on his spare clothes, it wasn’t that unbelievable.
Reaching up, she grabbed his cheeks between her hands and pulled his head down to kiss him.
Hard.
Deep.
Pouring everything she felt into that one kiss. Every bit of love, every bit of desire, every bit of hope and secret dreams.
When she finally released him, he stared down at her, for once in his life speechless.
Wiping her wet cheeks on her sleeve, she sniffed and gazed up at him. “You love me?”
“Yes?”
She couldn’t help but give a wobbly laugh at his uncertain reply. “You do love me?”
“Yes.” This time he said it with surety, a gleam of hope lighting his eyes. “Ali…?”
“Oh Ghost, I thought you were telling me that we were breaking up.”
His mouth dropped open.
“I thought this was your way of breaking it to me. I had no idea you were trying to tell me you loved me.” Throwing her arms around his neck, she pulled his head down and kissed him again, right before she breathed into his mouth, “I love you, too.”
“God, Ali.” He rested his forehead against hers. “You scared the hell out of me.”
“Ditto.” She sniffed again.
“Don’t cry.” He wiped his thumb under her eye, his movement as gentle as his voice. “I never want to see you cry.”
“Can’t help it. I cry at sad movies.”
“Yeah, I know.” He laughed softly, pulling a hanky from his pocket. “Here, blow.”
“How romantic.” She blew her nose and tucked the hanky into her jacket pocket.
“Only you, Ali, only you.” Cupping both her cheeks, he kissed her softly. “I love you, Ali Mackay.”
“I love you, Ty Sinclair. You’re always there for me, and I always want you to be. Forever.”
“Ali, call on me anytime, anywhere, and I’ll be there right beside you.”
He kissed her again, slowly, deeply, and she sank into his arms.
Only he didn’t stop, his hands shifting, drawing her jacket from her shoulders and slipping it off her. Long fingers worked at the buttons on her shirt.
“Ghost.” She opened her eyes.
He didn’t reply, his head dropping as he kissed her neck, making her shiver with rising desire and the tickle of his silken hair sweeping across her now nearly naked breasts.
He stoked the flames of passion inside her with every kiss, every stroke of his hands as he removed her clothes while worshipping her with every touch.
Before she knew it she was naked and lying in the back of the panel van, Ghost looming above her, blocking out the light from the torch.
Fire flickered through her veins, heating the tide of carnal desire he always brought to life inside her, but when she reached for him, intending to pull him into her rising passion, he held her hands gently, shaking his head.
“Just lie back, Ali,” he said softly.
And then he moved down her body.
If she thought she’d experienced everything he’d done so far, she was mistaken. The last time he’d sipped on her secrets, it had been heady, hot, wicked, but this time was so very different.
Every lick of her silken secrets was gentle. Every flick of his tongue against her clitoris was steady, deliberate, making her arch and writhe beneath his ministrations.
She wanted hard and fast.
Ghost controlled her, making love to her slowly, carefully, driving her almost insane with ardour.
His hands held her thighs apart, strong thumbs gliding over her inner heat, parting the delicate folds to bear her secrets to his gaze and knowing, oh so knowing, mouth.
He didn’t lash her with his tongue, he worshipped her, pushing her higher, every soft sweep, every silken suck, every careful nip.
When she thought she couldn’t take it anymore he moved back up her body, making her whimper at the loss, only to gasp as he filled her slowly, surely, one long, unhurried push inside her, impaling her with erotic ease.
Looming above her he thrust slowly, almost lazily.
“Ghost.” She gasped his name in agonised pleasure. “Please.”
Lowering his head, he kissed her gently, caringly. Sweetly. “I love you, Ali,” he whispered huskily. “I love you so much.”
There was no chance to reply because he started moving again, that steady, slow thrust that was driving her almost insane with desire. How could a man move so slowly yet still build the heat so high?
Helpless to hurry him, unable to do more than writhe beneath his touch and take what he gave her, she could only give herself up to his mastery. Once she did, he saw to her needs as he always did, always her first.
Using tongue, hands, and whispered words of hot encouragement, he pushed her slowly along the path to Eros. His hips never once changed tempo, his hands stroking, lips kissing, tongue flickering out to lave the pulse beating so wildly in the side of her throat.
Unable to hold on yet unable to fly, she could only cling to him as finally, finally, she felt the shift in him, the speeding up of his hips.
“It’s all right, Ali.” His words were husky, almost hoarse with suppressed desire. “In a minute, my darling. In a minute you can fly, but not right now.” He stopped.
“No…” she whimpered, straining against him.
Cupping her cheeks, he looked down into her eyes. “I love you, Ali. This is for you.”
She didn’t know what he did. A shift of his hips, a thrust, his hands curling around her head as he arched over her and took her lips. Kissing her so deeply she knew she’d never get the taste of him from her mouth. Her sheath spasmed but something had changed in mere seconds.
Seeking him, wanting him, she wrapped her arms around his neck, pulling him closer. Loving him. When it had changed she didn’t know, but the yearning for a hurried, glorifying orgasm fled to be replaced with the need to have him close, to have him inside her as long as she could, to retain the intimacy of their joining.
“Ty,” she whispered. “I love you, Ty. I do.”
The tenderness of the moment wasn’t lost between them, the shared understanding of their gazes, but then their bodies took over, the building need between them moving them instinctively.
His hips thrust faster, harder, and she rose eagerly to meet him, her fingers twining into his silky hair before he straightened and she slipped through the blonde strands to grip his shoulders instead.
Arching back, taking his weight on his hands, he thrust harder, hips pounding now as he pushed them both onwards up that soul-shattering peak. Right before she went over he dropped down on top of her, capturing her mouth, swallowing her cry of release even as his hips jerked, his seed filling her.
Her body cradled safely in his arms, her spirit hurtled out into the shattering of stars.
Opening her eyes she became aware of several things at once. One, Ghost was deliciously heavy and warm atop her. Two, her toes were cold. Three, the torch wa
s still shining brightly in the doorway of the panel van. Four, she’d actually made love in the back of Ghost’s panel van.
That last thought made her smile widely.
At that moment Ghost lifted his head, his slumberous gaze catching her smile. “What’s so funny?”
“Just remembering why panel vans are called shag wagons.”
“Mmm.” Smiling, he snuggled into her, pressing little kisses along her throat. “You know what’s even funnier?’
“What?” Her hands slid down his back, tracing the muscles that bunched beneath the hot skin.
“If there are any spirits out here, we’ve just shocked the shit out of them.”
Ali’s eyes widened and then she giggled, slapping him lightly on one trim buttock.
“Ouch!” Propping himself up on his elbows, he gazed down at her. “Leave my arse alone, woman.”
“That’s what I told you, and you didn’t,” she replied.
“That’s because your cute arse is just made for smacking when you smart mouth me.” He grinned, eyes gleaming. “I do love a good handful.”
She slapped him on the shoulder. “Last handful you’ll ever get.”
“Oh no, honey, because I intend to make your arse legally mine.”
She stilled.
“Yep,” he said with great satisfaction. “I’m asking you to marry me, Ali Mackay, and I won’t be taking no for an answer.”
Her heart skipped a beat. “You really want to marry me?”
“Abso-freakin’-lutely.”
With a squeal of pure joy, she hugged him close. “Oh yes! The answer is yes!”
“Of course, there are two conditions.”
Warily, she pulled back to look up at him. “What?”
“I come with five cats.”
“No problem. I know your trouble makers already, so I know what I’m getting into.”
“Good. Now for the other condition. What’s the big secret you’re keeping for Tommy, the café owner?”
Her smile was smug. “I can’t tell you that.”
“Are you sure?”
She nodded.
“Ah crap.” He sighed. “Guess I’ll take you anyway.”
“Oh, you are so hard done by.”
“Speaking of hard…”
It wasn’t long before the laughter turned to sighs and the panel van started rocking.
