On the Rocks

Teddy. Once he spent a few years rediscovering his masculinity, he got a job with an indie wrestling company and he’s a hell of a showman. Oh, yeah. He also called Mollie, and they are currently dating. I knew the guy had a crush on her.
Jake. Oh, Jake. What can I say about Jake? He’s modeling like mad, mostly for fashion companies who target young adults who want clothes that are out of the ordinary. The guy could wear anything (or nothing) and make it look awesome. He’s got thousands of Instagram followers and has a boyfriend and an open relationship…but they just invited a woman into the mix. It’ll be interesting to see how that turns out. I meet him for coffee whenever I’m the in New York area, so I’ll find out soon enough.
Bad Dog, AKA Simon. Ah, sweet Simon. We actually chat once in a while. He’d gotten out of the music business and was a bouncer at a hot club in downtown L.A. for a year or two but missed being a roadie. So I introduced him to some bands I knew and he went back on the road. His wife was pregnant with their first child, so he had to cut it short when she went into labor, but he plans to do more road work. He loves the hell out of it.
Mollie. Oh, God, Mollie. What would I do without that woman? As much as she pisses me off, she is still my manager and continues doing things I ask her to do, even though they’re neither standard nor orthodox. My third album going big and escalating to the top of charts might have been long overdue and it was just time, or it might have been the perfect storm, but I’d like to think that Mollie had a lot to do with it. The woman’s a planner and a thinker and she analyzes the shit out of everything. I will believe she was the catalyst behind its success to my dying day.
Vicki. My sweet Vicki. I half expected to hear from her mom that she’d OD’d again, but she hasn’t. I suspect she has a drinking problem now, but she’s done okay for herself. She plays drums for a local band once in a while, but her main source of income is tending bar. She still lives with her mom, probably the best place for her to be. We talk once in a while, but she kind of lives in the past…and it makes me feel guilty for moving on. She keeps hoping for a Vagabonds reunion.
Peter. What can I say? The man is still a supreme asshole, but he’s also a certified fucking genius. He still discovers and develops talent, but now that people have heard about how he exploited us girls in the Vagabonds, most people are cautious about allowing their kids around him. He tends to work with older people now…and it’s not working out so well for him.
Barbie. My God, the woman is an attention whore and a train wreck and continues to be. She snags any reality show she can get her fingers in, and she’s known as a perpetual Hollywood partier. If she can get on the list, she’s there. She does some modeling and poses nude on occasion, but she’s mostly just a celebrity—a celebrity who’s actually a has-been.
She quit trash talking me, though. Reality television has given her much riper targets.
My mom and dad…and CJ’s mom. My parents, those goofy nuts. They still live in Hawaii, but I send them on a trip once a year to the destination of their choice. And why the hell not? I can afford it…and I love them. CJ’s mom—she got remarried and the new guy swept her off her feet. CJ said he’s never seen her happier.
Liz. Liz, Liz, Liz. Once I got over my jealousy, I found out she was a bit green-eyed herself over me. Why, I don’t know, because her star shot high a hell of a lot faster than mine. Once I started the tour for my third album, CJ by my side, I forgot all about Liz. Finally experiencing my own taste of fame and fortune helped me ignore my friend’s success. Magazines and tabloid shows and rags kept pitting us against one another, though, and egging on a feud. CJ suggested, after my tour, that I give her a call, so I did, and it was like old times. I’d forgotten how much I loved stoic Liz. Oh…and she doesn’t tell the press (she’s super secretive about her private life), but she married her girlfriend last year. She hasn’t spoken to her parents since and she’s perfectly fine with that.
Oh, you also want an update about me and my band and CJ? Well…just as I’d known, my third album broke me huge. I had three singles climb the charts and sold out shows from coast to coast. It felt like I finally had the recognition and appreciation I deserved. And I’m still enjoying riding that wave.
CJ and I…well, I moved into his place—our place (sorry—it’s taking me a while to get used to that)—and made it homey. I think CJ was a little lonely there because, aside from the downstairs music area, it felt like a museum. I added pictures and art and a little bit of me and the place is great.
We’re both loving the hell out of our music careers and kicking ass.
And it’ll be a few more years, but we’ve already chosen which bedroom will be the nursery. Someday. Not yet. But…soon.
Vagabond n. A person who moves from place to place without a permanent home.
Yeah…I was a Vagabond, but I’m not anymore.

I can spend money on marketing or invest time in activities I think will help, but the bottom line is this: YOU help me more than any venture I could set out on. Yes, you. So how can you help me? It’s easy—I promise!

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Jade C. Jamison was born and raised in Colorado and has decided she likes it enough to stay forever. Jade's day job is teaching Creative Writing, but teaching doesn't stop her from doing a little writing herself.
Unfortunately, there's no one genre that quite fits her writing. Her work has been labeled romance, erotica, suspense, and women's fiction, and the latter is probably the safest and closest description. But you'll see that her writing doesn't quite fit any of those genres.
And Jade is a-okay with that!
