  “Tommy, stop,” Abriella warned.

Her husband chuckled, squeezed her thigh tightly, but didn’t remove his hand. In fact, he moved it higher until he was stroking her pussy over the silk panties she wore. Again and again, harder and harder until her legs were shaking and her fingers were digging into his arm to keep from grabbing the back of the chair in front of her.

Then, his fingers were slipping under her panties to find her wet sex. Abriella bit her lip while Tommas played with her pussy. His light touches and teasing strokes made her want to whine for more.

Why did he do this to her?

  Make her so goddamn crazy?

A single finger slid into her clenching pussy, testing her body and playing with her constraint. Tommas didn’t relent in his little game until Abriella was swallowing hard, her eyes were rolling, and she’d shoved her knuckles between her teeth to hide her sigh as she shook through an orgasm that felt as bad as it did good.

Their best friends chatted quietly ahead of them, discussing the show and what they had seen so far. It had been decent enough, if not a little tiring after a while.

Removing his hand from between her legs, Tommas winked as he cleaned his finger with his mouth. If she’d had told him to stop, he would have. But she didn’t want him to. Abriella couldn’t believe her husband, but then again, she didn’t know him to be any different.

He loved using her like this.

She needed him to do it.

  “Wonderful,” Tommas said.

  Abriella sighed. “Thank you.”

  “Always, Ella. I like this.”

  “Hmm, what?”

“This,” he repeated. “Being here with them. It makes us feel closer. I think so, anyway.”

Abriella understood what he meant. Tommas was close to his underboss and his front boss. Damian and Theo held the highest seats in the Outfit next to Tommas. Their daily business and control over the family walked hand in hand.

However, unlike the others who had come before them, the people who had simply faked friendships for the sake of the show, they actually had real trust and devotion to one another in ways people couldn’t possibly understand.

No one but them had to see it.

Tommas reached over and stroked Abriella’s cheek gently. “You’re bored. I could see it in your eyes. That’s why I woke you up with a little game, hmm.”

  It wasn’t even a question.

  “A little.”

  “And missing the kids?”

  Abriella smiled softly. “Yeah.”

“It’s almost over. Do you want to go get a drink at the bar? By the time we’re done, this will be over, too.”

“As long as it’s something strong. My ears are ringing from listening to this nonsense for the last two hours.”

  “Not rum,” he said.

Abriella rolled her eyes. “Fun sucker.”

  “So be it.”

Tommas leaned forward in his seat to tap Damian on the shoulder. Damian turned his head slightly as Tommas murmured something Abriella couldn’t hear. Then, Tommas was standing from his chair and helping Abriella from hers.

Once they were outside the private balcony and walking down a quiet, red carpeted hallway, Abriella asked, “What did you tell him?”

“That we would meet them tomorrow for dinner at their house.”

“But you said we would see them after the show.”

“I lied,” Tommas said with a wicked smile.

Abriella stared at her husband, confused. “What?”

“Remember what I told you that I wanted yesterday morning?”

It only took Abriella a couple of seconds to recall the conversation during their early morning sexcapade.

  “Another baby.”

“We’re still working on that, babe. Here and now seems like a damn good time.”

Tommas’ hand found Abriella’s lower back, and the closest door was pushed open. He shoved her inside what looked to be a storage closet of some sort. Abriella heard the jingle of keys in the dark before a light flicked on.

Silently, her husband locked the door.

“Where did you get those?” she asked, breathless and laughing.

Tommas didn’t answer her. He started pulling her dress up, making her spin to face a row of shelves.

  “Tommas!”

  “Hush.”

Abriella turned to face her husband again, glaring playfully. “Where did you get those keys?”

“Paid off a guy downstairs when you were checking in your coat.”

  Huh.

  “Sneaky,” she murmured.

  “I had plans.”

  “I can see that.”

“Well, you surely will.” Tommas flashed his teeth in a sinful smile as he popped open the button on his slacks, pointed at the floor, and said, “Get down on your knees, open wide, make me good and hard, and then I’ll bend you over and get a start on those plans.”

Abriella didn’t even hesitate to drop down like he’d told her to. She winked up at him from below. They were a little bit dirty—wicked in the best ways. She loved them best like this, because when he took the time to drag her into some dark room, promising something sinful was waiting behind a closed door, it made her feel forever young.

  “I love you, Tommy.”

  First thing in the morning.

  The last thing at night.

Tommas’ hand found the underside of her jaw. “I love you, too. Now, open your pretty fucking mouth and show me how much.”

  Gladly.

  Acknowledgments

The Chicago War series was a project that began with just Tommas and Abriella’s story in Breathless & Bloodstained. And then it grew to become four couples divided by misplaced loyalties, family, and bad blood. The people who encouraged me to tell this series as it should be told, as it deserved to be told, should get all the credit for this series becoming what it was, truly. Without them telling me to write it, I would have written Tommas and Abriella, and nothing else. I don’t think the series, or the final book, would have had the impact it did without the previous stories.

To my family who went without me for sometimes days while I penned these novels out over the last six months, thank you. I am the luckiest woman in the world to have people in my corner who give me the chance to be this insane, creative person that I am.

To Jay Aheer … I know you thought I was crazy for the ideas I had banging around in my head for this series and the covers. I know you were worried, and unsure, and wondering what I must have taken to come up with something like the War covers. You’re unexplainably awesome. Your talent is immeasurable. I am so incredibly proud to have your artwork representing my books, characters, and words. Thank you for indulging my idea, and going for it. All my love and respect.

To Eli, you’re invaluable. Really, you are. Your advice and time has been imperative to this series. You’ve pushed me through the blocks that popped up, so thank you.

Tracy, from the bottom of my heart, thank you for being my best friend in this publishing world, and for being one of my biggest fans. Thank you for taking the time to proof, pre-read, and help me. All my love.

Sheila and Dominique, thank you for your work editing, proofing, and pre-reading with this series. You both helped to make it so much better.

And to the fans … my God. My readers, the ones who loved all these War men, for every message, every teaser you made, and the time you took from your life to give to me while you read this series, thank you. My readers are my greatest success. And it would not be half the fun without you.
