She didn’t have time to dwell on it, though, because she felt the cold air hitting her bare behind when Oliver lifted her skirt and pulled down her serviceable white cotton panties required by the school. She missed her sexy lacy ones she had worn last week, the ones Henry liked.

As he rubbed the creamy white globes, Oliver said, “I will give you ten with my hand and ten with the paddle today, Karia.” He had used her given name! Not Ms. Daly!

She braced herself for the onslaught, and a second later, the first smack hit. She jumped, having not had a punishment in several days. The sensations began immediately, causing her juices to begin flowing. She only hoped she was spared the embarrassment of having him know.

Oliver rubbed her cheek before administering a second blow, this time, to the other one. His touch ignited something in her that she couldn’t explain. Eight more slaps rang out before he took a break and walked over to his cabinet to retrieve the wooden paddle she hated so much.

Karia was more confused than ever by this point. Her ass was on fire from only ten smacks of his hand, but there was a more intense fire burning within her. What did it mean? Was she attracted to her professor? He was young and handsome, in his dark and brooding way, but really? He was as different from Henry as the dark night was to the bright day. What did it all mean? She would not be able to deny him if he were to throw her over his desk and make love to her right this minute. And that thought, more so than any of the others running through her mind at that moment, greatly disturbed her. She was with Henry. They had never discussed being with others, but she assumed that he thought they were exclusive. Even with his reputation as a playboy and womanizer, she had no reason to believe he was seeing anyone else.

And then, Oliver returned. He had the paddle in his hand, and he commanded in a low tone, “I want you to count each swat of the wood. There will be ten, as I said before.”

“Y-yes, s-sir,” she managed to get out.

She heard the whoosh as the implement swung through the air before making contact with her already red bottom. “One,” she said, wishing with all her heart that she could reach back and rub out the sting. Oliver prevented that by holding her hands with his free one.

“T-two,” she said, fighting hard to hold back the tears that were threatening to fall.

Another whoosh, and the wood smacked again, causing her to cry out, “Ow!”

“Count,” was all he said before she did.

“Four,” she said, tears now making their way down her cheeks.

The fifth swat hurt like hell, and then he started on her sit spots.

“Halfway there,” Oliver said as he placed a sixth on the top of one of her thighs.

“Seven,” she said as he placed a hard swat to her sit spot.

“Eight,” she groaned between sobs as the top of her thigh took another hit.

“Nine, ten,” she managed before she heard him lay the paddle on the desk. He pulled her up and she was in his arms before she really knew what had happened. What was this? He was holding her and whispering in her ear as she sobbed against his chest.

“There, there, it’s all over now, Karia. That’s a good girl, let it all out,” he was saying.

And she did. She cried and sobbed and held on to his shirt. When she had finally calmed and the sobs became occasional hiccups, he reached down and pulled her panties up gently. Her skirt fell back into place and he positioned her at arm’s length. Then, he handed her a tissue.

“How do you feel?” he asked.

How did she feel? Really, he was asking that after he’d just blistered the hell out of her ass? She couldn’t be honest with him. That was for sure. She couldn’t tell him that she wanted him to kiss her at this very moment, to tell her that he wanted her. What in the bloody hell was wrong with her? So, instead, she simply said, “May I go now, sir?”

He sighed and said, “Yes, of course.”

She got her things and went to her room, where she promptly went into the bathroom to bring herself to the orgasm she’d so badly needed and had been refused. Well, he hadn’t actually refused. What would he have done if she had made a move on him? Of course, his job could have been in jeopardy, and she didn’t want that to happen to him. She couldn’t talk to anyone about this, not even Colleen, who thankfully wasn’t in the room at the moment. It was something she had to work out by herself. But how?

The remaining few months of the school year flew by. Karia kept her nose to the grindstone, so to speak, studying and polishing her article. She received an A for her hard work, and soon, she was walking out the doors to enjoy a few months away from the academy—and Master Oliver Armstrong. He had left her alone after that day in his classroom/office. Other than attending her scheduled classes with him, she rarely saw him, and she thought this was probably a good thing.

It was summer, and Karia had been busy working at her father’s office. A designer with whom she had worked when she was writing her fashion article had invited her and Emma to come in to look at some new designs and to pick out an outfit each. She had run into the woman when she’d been shopping with Kathleen and her sister one day. Actually, the designer had asked her discreetly, while Kathleen and her sister were trying on dresses, and had told her to bring the princess along.

“I’ll get in touch with Princess Emma and work out a time, then I’ll let you know,” she’d said, thanking the woman for the generous invitation.

When she had told the princess, she was eager to accompany Karia, and they’d made the arrangements, firming them up with the designer.

The day for their outing had arrived. Karia had gotten the day off work, and a royal car was going to pick her up at home and take the two girls to the designer’s office. She was excited to be spending the day with her friend, the princess, and the two girls chatted all the way there.

They had a blast looking through the new designs and choosing the ones they wished to try. They took turns coming out of the dressing room and marveled at each dress before each of them finally selected one.

The designer, Marlena, seemed happy with their choices, and she left to take care of getting them ready to be delivered to the girls’ homes.

“Where is Rance?” Karia asked as she looked around for the guard who had accompanied them that day.

“I think I heard Marlena telling him we would be a while and he should take a break and go for a coffee.”

“And he left?” Karia asked in surprise.

“She told him we would be fine. I wouldn’t worry. He’ll be back soon. Let’s go out front and wait for him to come back,” the princess said.

“But should we do that? Shouldn’t we just wait here?”

“It’ll be fine. I know you aren’t used to this, but seriously, if you knew how many times I’ve ditched a guard, you would be appalled. Besides, he’ll be back soon, I’m sure.”

  “Well, if you’re sure…

“I am. Now stop obsessing. No one is going to grab us in broad daylight, especially not here.”

They left the salon and walked to the front lobby of the building. When they stepped outside to wait for Rance, they were bombarded with the flash of several bulbs. It took Karia a minute, but she realized it was the paparazzi. How had they known they were here?

Emma didn’t seem to be fazed at all. She simply smiled for the cameras and did the famous royal wave.

Suddenly, one man pushed forward and said, “So which one of you is the bride and which is the bridesmaid? Did you find the perfect dress for the big day?”

Karia just looked at him, stunned.

“Come on, lady. You are still just a commoner like the rest of us. Your family is in the business, so you know we earn our living this way. Stop acting like a bitch!”

Karia stepped back as more flashes went off. Where was Rance? She wanted to crawl into a hole right now. How dare this man say these things to her!

“Your Royal Highness, what have you to say? Are you the bride?” another man asked.

Karia opened the door and rushed back into the building with Emma right behind her, but it was too late. The reporters had followed her before she was able to close the door.

Emma rushed to her and tried to move the two of them away, but at that moment, Marlena appeared and said, “Ladies, what’s the rush? Why don’t you give these nice men a story?”

Then, miraculously, Rance appeared and herded them out the back door and into the waiting car.

“I apologize, Your Highness, Ms. Daly. That designer insisted that she would make sure you were taken care of. I had no reason to doubt her. I only went next door long enough to get a coffee to go. As soon as I saw the commotion, I raced back.”

“It’s not your fault, Rance, and I will explain to my father,” Emma said. “We were all duped. No, you shouldn’t have gone under any circumstances, but who would have thought someone of her standing would pull such a trick? She wanted the publicity for her company. That’s very evident now, especially when she appeared and told us to give the “nice men” a story. There will be repercussions for her.”

Karia was sobbing by now, and Emma tried to comfort her by putting her arms around her. “Honey, I’m so sorry that reporter said the things he did. That was unforgiveable.”

The driver took them straight to the palace, where the royal family had been alerted and were waiting for the two girls.

The queen took Emma into her arms and spoke quietly to her while Henry went straight to Karia. The king stood at his side.

“Karia, please tell me everything. I’m so sorry.”

“Let’s go into my study. I’ll have tea brought in for you,” the king said.

After they had pieced together the story, the king picked up the phone and called someone. When he hung up, he said, “That designer is going to find herself in some serious trouble. I have no idea what the tabloid headlines will say, but we’ll deal with them as well. Now, my girls, I will speak to Rance. He will not lose his job at your request, my dear daughter, but he will be reprimanded. He knows better than to leave his post. I realize, however, that this was all carefully orchestrated.”

“To say to you what that so-called reporter said is outrageous. We will find out his name and deal with him as well,” Henry added. “I’m so sorry, my love. I know this is the one thing you detest most of all, but this should never have happened.”

One of the staff arrived with tea, and Karia gratefully accepted a cup. The king was now on the phone with her father.

“Very well, Gordon, I understand,” he said as he rang off.

“Your father is on his way here. We will discuss the matter with him, and then he will take you home, Karia.”

Everyone was fussing around her, and all Karia wanted at the moment was to go home and hide in her bedroom. She wanted her mum to sit on her bed with her and hold her as she had done when she was a child. She wanted to hear her tell her that it would be all right. But would it? Would it ever be all right? She couldn’t live like this. She couldn’t go out and worry about someone attacking her like that, ever again. How could she? It wasn’t right. It was an out and out show of disrespect and an invasion of privacy. She was a reporter. Her father was a reporter. Neither of them would ever treat a person like that to get a story.

Her father arrived, and he and the king talked at great length. Henry held her in his arms, trying to comfort her until Gordon said he was ready to take his daughter home to her mother. He thanked the royal family for their help and said to Henry, “Thank you. I appreciate your help as well. This is not your fault, and I want you to know that I do not hold you responsible.”

When they were ready to leave, Henry kissed her on the forehead and promised to check in on her later. The king, queen and Emma all said they would as well.

But Karia looked up at Henry with tear-filled eyes and said, “I-I don’t think I c-can do this anymore. I’m sorry.”
