When A Hood Legend Claims It All

With that, she stood up from the couch, adjusted her bag on her shoulders before she looked around at the condo and then shot me a menacing look that had me prepared to drag her if I needed to. She had about eight inches of height on me but I’d beat her down to my height if I had to. I was humble but had no issue to rumble whoever.

“I think it’s time for a change. I wouldn’t dare call a place home another woman lived in. Peter knows better.”

For her to not have no animosity she sure enough did roll her eyes and made her way to the door where she let herself out and left me basking in my reality.

  Yvette “Vett” Wallace

My foot barely passed the threshold of the entrance of the condo before I was fumbling with my clutch for a cigarette. It was a nasty habit I picked up being locked away with nothing but time on my hand.

Although I came to prove a point and let my presence be known I didn’t feel like I accomplished anything besides the fact that I was now worried about another woman.

I didn’t lie. Corryn was beautiful and I hated that. If she was some chicken head hussy that was average looking and was cooking up work for a few dollars I would’ve been cool. However, this situation was different. Pitt invested in her, he basically handed her over my life.

I popped up to confirm my woman’s intuition and tried to be real petty when in all reality I just hurt my own feelings. She was nothing like me and that’s what blew my mind. Just from her reaction I can tell she was more level headed than me. She got him to believe in her dreams regardless if it was to help him hide product, he did it. She had something to offer him that I couldn’t. Pitt loved control and I was sure sleeping beauty had him feeling like the man.

Placing the Virginia Slim in between my lips, I snatched up the lighter and lit the tip before inhaling deeply. I calmed down instantly after blowing the smoke out.

It was hard for me to stop thinking about this girl. I was far from ugly, but I was sure there were things her young body could do that my forty-year-old body couldn’t. The upside of being in jail is that I didn’t age much. I didn’t look like I was in my twenties of course but no one would ever think I was as old as I was.

Worried out of my mind, I smoked the cigarette down to the cotton part. After flicking it to the ground, I crushed it with the tip of my heel and proceeded to my car.

How convenient it was that I was put up in the Hilton blocks from where I formerly lived. Pitt sure had a way of doing things and if you asked me it was sloppy as fuck. How did he think I wouldn’t want to see my home when I was feet away?

Just as I threw the car in park, my phone rang and I rolled my eyes seeing that it was Trevor. After the first time which was years ago, I told myself I wouldn’t cross that line with him again, but on a lonely night when Pitt was nowhere to be found, I slipped up and got a sample of Trevor again. Since then he has not stopped hitting up my phone and had me ready to put him on the block list. Anyone would think with everything I was going through with Pitt I would know not to mix business with pleasure.

Passing the Valet my keys, I headed into the hotel to get this same ol’ conversation done for the day.

“Why does it feel like I’m hounding you?” he sneered once I answered and said ‘hello’

“I mean… I’ve only been home for four weeks. I asked you to give me time to see what I really want to do,” I sighed. “What I came home to is a shit show. I need time to pick up the pieces.”

“Of your business or your marriage?” he laughed further irritating me because I sensed he knew all along that Pitt was playing a devout boyfriend to someone else. “You had ten years to figure that shit out. You felt the change with ya man and look at you. You get out and have a whole change of heart.”

“You knew about the girl? The girl Corryn?”

Trevor got quiet which confirmed he did. Granted he wasn’t friends with Pitt, but he was on our payroll some time back to get rid of problems for us.

“That’s crazy, so I’m out here trying to save a relationship when this man done already moved on. You said you had my back and was rocking with me. This was information you could’ve given me while I was locked up,”

“Come on now, Vett, be real with ya self. You really believed ya ugly ass nigga had pretty ass young bitches lined up to do business with him and he wouldn’t touch them? He’s a man before he’s ya husband and you weren’t around to get his dick wet. I can’t believe you were gonna sit there and believe he was beating his dick for the past ten years. Now look at you free and damn near broke.”

  “You know what–”

His words formed a lump in my throat as I processed every gut wrenching word he said. He was right. As bad as I wanted to believe that Pitt would remain loyal to me because I was rocking hard for him, it was apparent the only person he thought about was himself.

“Look, I ain’t on the phone to shit on that nigga. He’s the least of my worries. I’m trying to see if you're ready to get this paper together. He had his time, now it’s time for you to reclaim what’s yours with a real nigga beside you.”

This time it was me with nothing to say. I was feeling Trevor and he said all the right things, but could I really trust he had my best interests at heart? I’ve been with Pitt damn near all my life and he was just like Trevor at one point of time but look at him now.

“Let me call you back,” I responded ending the call. I then put him on my block list so I wouldn’t get caught up with Pitt.

With all that was going on I shouldn’t have cared, but I couldn’t lie and said I didn't. I was mentally, emotionally and financially invested into that man.

Walking up to the suite I’ve been camped out for the past month, I inserted the key card and then opened the door.

My face balled up at the sight of Pitt who was busy counting money. For someone who wasn’t running shit the way it needed to be he always was occupied counting. At this rate I believed it had to have been the same money.

Slamming the door shut, he looked up at me and then dropped the money on the sofa he sat on.

“Renovations?” I shot back with my hand crossed under my breast and my head tilted to the side. He told me we couldn’t go back to the condo because they were renovating it. He did all this talking about how we needed somewhere new to call home all because he made a home with another woman.

  “You went over there.”

“You damn right!” I spat. “You gotta be fucking kidding Peter!” I moved into his space and mugged him in his head. “After all I’ve done for you! After all I sacrificed! You gave it up for a little girl that ain’t have shit.”

He didn’t say anything and that’s when it hit me. I don’t know why it didn’t cross my mind earlier, but it did now. The salty sorry ass look on his face said it all.

  “You love her, Peter?”

He didn’t respond, so I slapped the pile of money off of the table sending bills flying into the air. Before I even realized it I was swinging wildly on him.

“You fucking love her! How could you do this to me!”

I got a few hits in before he took hold of my wrist and slammed me on the couch where he pinned my arms above my head.

The vein in the middle of his forehead was bulging out and my hands began to get numb from the vice grip he had on them.

“Calm your crazy ass the fuck down.”

“How could you do this to me!” I sobbed. “You’re all I have. I’ve given you all I got and you gave it away.”

Guilt covered his face as I cried like a baby. Our marriage wasn’t the best, but I truly loved Peter with all my heart. Enough that I trusted him to take over a lucrative drug business after the death of my father. He was nothing before me. But being the girl that was so in love I made him who he was. Fucked my record up so we can be set and he done created a life without me.

Corryn wasn’t the only woman he dealt with while I was locked up. I knew about every single last one of them, but that girl… it was something about her. Pitt d
idn’t have to tell me because I felt it. She was more than a cover up.

As I cried he didn’t say a thing which confirmed my gut feeling.

“I went against my family for you, Peter! How can you do me like this?!”

“Man, I don’t love that girl, Yvette.”

  “You do!”

“Baby, I don’t. I swear. I just needed another place to put up the work. Nothing more nothing less. She’s no different than the other bitches. Give me a few days and she’s gone, I promise.”

This time Pitt pressed his lips against mine silencing my cries. It was a struggle not falling for his lust.

A nigga that wasn’t shit was good for one thing and that was sex.

“I love you and only you, Vet,” he hissed in my ear as he nibbled on my earlobe. “You hear me? I love you. You’re my wife and that’s not changing for nobody!”

My mouth was ajar, savoring the feel of his warm breath tickling my ear. His thick lips went from my ear to my neck where he sucked feverishly then made his way down to my chest where he ripped apart my shirt so he can give my breast just as much as attention. From there he trailed kisses down to my stomach. I squeeze my eyes tight as he nibbled on my waist teasing me with the thoughts of his tongue, slithering through my lower valley.

Unbuttoning my jeans, I lifted up a little to assist him in taking them off. He slid my shoes off my feet and tossed them across the suite and pulled off my jeans after.

Hating the feel of underwear my pussy was on full display after he rid my body of my jeans. He wasted no time diving face first into my box pulling my clit into his mouth as he inserted a finger into my hole. Arching my back, I palmed the back of his head and thrusted my hips into fingers.

“Shit… yes baby…” I whimpered feeling my legs shake and try to close him in.

It only fueled him to keep going, so he pried my legs open and continued to feast on my pussy. It didn’t take long for him to have me flowing like a river.

As my body tried to recover, Pitt lifted me and carried me to the bedroom section of the suite where he threw me onto the bed.

On my back, I propped myself up on my elbows and pressed my fingers into my swollen clit anticipating what he had next for me. Since I’ve been home we’ve been at it like dogs in heat.

I watched as he stripped down to nothing with his length standing tall stroking it in his hand as he got closer to the bed. He wasn’t the average Prince Charming. In the looks department he was a solid five, but when you had a body carved by God himself and an eight-inch dick he worked like magic, it made up for everything he lacked.

Pitt grabbed me by my ankles towards the edge and pushed my legs towards my ears. I jumped feeling his meaty dick slap down my wet slit. Without warning, he shoved his length into me, pushing my legs so far back that I was pinned to the bed and couldn’t do anything but take every inch of him.

“Who pussy is this?” he growled pummeling into me.

“It’s yours baby!” I hollered trying to break free.

He moved inside of me with a vengeance. “Then act like it!” he retorted dropping my legs and using his hands to grip my neck.

He continued to move faster this time telling me how much he loved me and my pussy. I nutted all over his dick before he released and collapsed on the bed.

As we both struggled to catch our breath, he pulled me into the crook of his arms and kissed the top of my forehead.

“I love you, Vett. You’re not going anywhere.”

“I love you more,” I mumbled feeling myself fall into a sex induced coma.

I hated that things turned out this way, but I loved this man. We’ve come too far to let go of what we built. One thing for sure, I wasn’t letting go without a fight!

“Ready to get ya ass bust old man,” I asked standing to my feet once I saw West approaching with his father Big Wes.

“Don’t let my age fool you. Where you think ya pop learned all that shit he taught you?” Big Wes chuckled taking off his Traditions work shirt. He was acting like he was about to put in work when he knew I was vicious on the courts.

This was our thing. Life got ahead of us sometimes so we really didn’t get a chance to sit down and talk, so we bonded over a game of basketball which was more so therapeutic to me. Big Wes and my dad were cool as shit which organically formed a bond between Wesley and I.

“Yooo, I know it’s hot and all ol’ head, but put that shit back on,” Kenton teased him as we all bust out laughing.

“I’ma show y’all youngin’s how we used to get down back in the day. That sissy ass basketball y’all playing don’t have shit on how we play.”

“Yeah, yeah, yeah,” I replied bouncing the ball before passing it between my legs. He must’ve forgotten I played street ball against adults as a kid. There was no such thing as a foul and I had the scars to prove it.

Basketball was sweet as shit right not which is why I barely enjoyed watching the games now because you would tap someone and they would go falling to the ground as if they got hit by a car. It probably was best I didn’t pursue that dream because the NBA wouldn’t be able to handle me.

Kenton and I dapped up Wes and his father once they were on the court. As usual we started the game by taking a chance to shoot three pointers. The team that made both got the ball first. I made mine, but Kenton shot hit the rim giving Wesley and his pop a chance to make both of their shots. It was just their luck that they did.

“So how did the meeting go?” Big Wes questioned as I checked him the ball to officially begin the game.

“Better than what I expected?” I replied, focusing on his hand as he dribbled the ball so I can take it.

Big Wes eyed me for a second too long, and I snatched it out of his hand dribbled it and drove it down the other end of the court passing it to Kenton, who did an easy layup since they were a few seconds too slow.

“Y’all know what this means right?” he asked huffing and puffing already.

  “More money…” Wes explained.

“More problems,” his father added. “Pitt not gonna be happy that you’re not only taking his customers, but his connect.”

Big Wes didn’t approve of what we did, but he accepted it only because we had exit plans and didn’t want to make the street life a forever thing.

“This ain’t nothing new though. We’ve been getting our weight from Black. We’ve both coexisted for this long, I don’t see the issue now,” I defended our move. Since my father's death, Philly been a free for all since this nigga Pitt came out the woodworks. I was always getting money; I was just more so discreet about it than Pitt. Everyone had their options on who they wanted to supply them and now it was obvious that someone was experiencing slow money and it wasn’t me.

“It ain’t about coexisting. Pitt is the kind of man that wants to be on top. It’s an ego thing. He ain’t a real hustler. If he was, coexisting wouldn’t have been an option. The move y’all just made put y’all at the top. Philly belong to y’all whether you want to admit to it or not.”

I understood completely what Big Wes was saying. But it was far too late. We were knee deep in the game and there wasn’t any turning back now. I was twenty-five years old and hit my first million. We could walk away right now if we wanted, but that wasn’t something we wanted right now.

“It is what it is. Pitt not about that life. We all know it,” Kenton added after making a shot.

“Regardless if he isn’t, he has the money to start a war. A war technically means no money. No money means wasted time.”

Comparison to me, Kenton was a hot head. He was on go for everything.

“We’re ready for whatever. We talked about this and know what we are getting into,” Wes continued. The game was tied now. Wes checked the ball to Kenton. “We ain’t stopping no one show or taking food off their plate. They can still eat, it’s just through us.”

“Don’t let that get to ya head son.”

“Big Wes, we get it and we
re moving cautiously. The opportunity to make money is there. We ain’t stopping no show. And with all due respect I ain’t stopping shit for bruised egos,” I chimed in trying to be the voice of reason but the thought of anyone trying us had me just as hot as Kenton.

Big Wes stopped running up the court and looked us over with a serious stare.

“You know, ya father and I never wanted this for y’all. There’s no rules to this shit. You can be on top one day and at the lowest ya next. At the end of the day y’all are men and I respect y’all decision. Just stay focus and leave this shit behind y’all as soon as y’all can. In this business your shelf life is but so long. Stay alive and free long enough to enjoy the fruits of your labor.”

“I understand. We have an exit plan, we’re just not there yet.”

“I will like for y’all to grow old and start a family. Actually see your off springs grow up. Don’t be like me and y’all father.”

“Trust me, we ain’t,” Wes laughed. “I don’t know how y’all managed to get locked down in y’all prime with all this pussy out here.”

I ended up laughing too because he was right. I made the mistake a long time ago by even thinking about opening up to a woman and she did me dirty. My trust with women was demolished starting from my mother. I was good on that love shit. No amount of pussy was worth my sanity.

The crazy thing is, that damn CoCo been on my mind and had me going against what I thought firmly on. Hearing Big Wes mention that brought her back to my mind. I haven’t heard from her in a few days but saw she read my message. I wasn’t going to lie and said that fucked me up that I didn’t even get a response but it is what it is. I wasn’t in the business of chasing woman.

“Yeah but it ain’t nothing like having someone you love and trust in ya corner.”
