“She wants to make an offer to buy them.”

Laura looked disappointed. “They belong to the estate, so technically they’re yours to sell. So what are you gonna do?”

“Not sell them, first of all. And I was thinking since the museum burned down and they need exhibits that maybe we’d lend them some things. That way we still keep ownership and we know that it’s in a safe place.”

“I think that’s a great idea.” Laura smiled happily. “You know what, Tamika? I’m really, really proud of you,” she said.

“You know what, Mom? I’m really, really proud of you too,” Tamika said right back.

  Dear Reader,

Jennifer and I hope that you enjoyed reading She Said, She Said as much as we enjoyed writing it. This was a very different experience for us—one I’m sure we will treasure for many years to come. As mother and daughter we had to depart from our traditional roles and develop a new common ground. As writers we had to learn to respect and accept each other’s talents and limitations. The outcome was a wonderful story about stepping into another person’s shoes and experiencing life from a different point of view and ultimately finding understanding and acceptance in others and in ourselves.

To help with this story Jennifer and I actually went on a road trip together and a lot of what happened in the book actually did happen to us. We laughed and joked and talked and cried. Yes, we even argued a bit. Throughout the course of writing this story we learned a lot about ourselves and each other. I think it brought us closer together in understanding and love.

  Best wishes,

Jennifer Norfleet & Celeste O. Norfleet
