Robin Hyatt was eighteen years old when she went to Camp Virginia Jaycee for the first time. She learned a lot from that experience and was also given a

wonderful chance to broaden her horizons. It was the first time that she had ever worked with people of any mental handicap. She volunteered three more times at Camp Jaycee until she graduated from Lynchburg College in 1996 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. Each time she went she looked at the world a little differently. She is currently working as the special events coordinator at the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce.
Christine Ichim's mother is still alive. In addition to the fund-raising project, Christine is in the process of writing a book. She also delivers motivational speeches to people of all ages.
Amanda Johnson is sixteen years old and a junior in high school in Placerville, California. This is her first published work but she has been writing poems and children's stories for years. Aside from writing, she also takes Jazz and Ballet and performs in school and community theatre productions. Amanda loves children.
Andrew Keegan is one of Hollywood's most popular young actors. Last television season, he had roles on both Party of Five and 7th Heaven. Andrew will star in the upcoming Touchstone Pictures film Ten Things I Hate About You, which is based on William Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew. Jason Leib is twenty years old and an upper junior at Yeshiva University. He was born and raised in the Chicagoland area. He is legally blind. Despite the vision problem, he played six years of Little League. He also attends the Special Olympics where he competed in several different sporting events and won gold, silver and bronze medals in the events he played in. He attended Ida Crown Jewish Academy for high school where he played one year of junior varsity basketball and two years of varsity basketball. Walter W. Meade started writing at the age of fourteen. His first story was published in Colliers magazine at the age of twenty-two. He wrote short fiction stories for the Saturday Evening Post, Gentlemen's Quarterly and several others. He then turned to writing nonfiction for magazines such as Cosmopolitan, Redbook and the Reader's Digest. Amy Muscato is a high school student in New Jersey. She has varied interests including theater, singing, politics and forensics. After her graduation in June 1999, she looks forward to attending college. Amy has aspirations of a career in either politics or television news.
Sara Nachtman is sixteen years old and is a focused student, determined athlete, with much emotional experience with trying to keep up with her competition. Sometimes she gets discouraged when her progress is slow or tiresome. These are the times when Sara writes to keep her motivation high while keeping in perspective what is really important.
Josh Nally is currently a college freshman. His story, "Making Dad Proud," was written as an assignment for his Advanced Placement English Class in high school. Kent Nerburn is an author, sculptor and educator who has been deeply involved in Native American issues and education. He has served as project director for two books of oral history entitled, To Walk the Red Road and We Choose to Remember. He has also edited three highly acclaimed books on Native American subjects. Kent won The Minnesota Book Award for his book, Neither Wolf nor Dog: On Forgotten Roads in 1995. The story "Like People First," appeared in Kent's book, Letters to My Son. Kent holds a Ph.D. in both theology and art, and lives with his family in Bemidju, Minnesota.
Jenni Norman is a fifteen-year-old sophomore in Albemarle, North Carolina.
