  “Yes,” he hissed.

  “Yes.”

“Yes, God yes.” He plunged deep inside her and stayed there.

She climaxed, too, clamping down on his cock with her muscles, moaning through pinched lips.

He eased out and disposed of the condom, righting his costume.

She cleaned herself and pulled up her panties. “I can’t believe I just got naughty with Santa.”

Rick pulled his cottony beard aside and kissed her, trailing a fingertip up her arm. “Santa doesn’t find you naughty at all. He thinks you’re very, very good.”

She leaned into his cushioned belly and smiled up at him. “I’ll go check on things. The kids should be arriving in the next 20 minutes.”

  Rick winked. “I’ll be ready.”

Rick tossed the bags of toys over his shoulder and shouted, “Ho, ho, ho,” as he headed down the hallway.

The studio was packed with children of all ethnicities and ages and the festive Christmas anticipation pulsed in the air. The smaller children grew excited, rising to their knees, eyes shining. Older ones rolled their eyes or scoffed, but they still eyed the sacks with interest.

He’d helped Meg and Brandy and their kids wrap all the gifts that morning. The social worker had provided them with a list of names and ages and they’d matched them with donations. Not much had come in for the older kids, but they’d had monetary donations, which Brandy used to buy presents. Good ones, too. She’d brought her kids to help pick them out.

He plopped down in the chair designated for “Santa” and started pulling out the gifts and reading the nametags. The children ran forward to collect their gifts. It seemed like it took forever, but probably went pretty fast.

He was down to just a few gifts when he pulled out one and blinked at the name.

“Who is it for?” a child in the front asked.

He cleared his throat. “Darrell Morehouse?”

The kids all sat still. Movement in the back of the room drew his attention. His father had been sitting down in the far corner. He shuffled forward now.

Brandy had done this. That sweet little vixen.

He stood up and threaded his way through the children to hand the gift to his father. “You must’ve been very good this year,” he said. “You’re the only adult who’s been given a gift!”

The adults in the room chuckled. His father’s eyes watered as he took the gift with a shaking hand. “Thank you.” His voice sounded thin. Old.

“I’m glad you could be here,” he said in a low tone.

His father bobbed his head, seeming too emotional to speak. He clutched the gift to his torso like a football as he shuffled back to his seat.

A smile tugging at his lips, he looked over at Brandy, who flashed her brilliant smile back. She might need another spanking from Santa before he was through.

Heart warm, he sat back down and finished the gift giving. The children, who hadn’t bothered to wait to open gifts, now got up and crowded around the food tables for refreshments, leaving a massive pile of wrapping paper and ribbon on the rug.

Brandy’s friend Meg rushed in, directing Brandy’s employee Jennie to bring another garbage bag to collect it all.

Before he took his place by the door to hug the children as they left, he sat back in his chair and watched it all, the din of chattering children, the cheerful voices, his father opening his gift in the corner. This was the sort of life he’d always wanted. A full one—with lots of people to love and a beautiful woman beside him to share it all.

Brandy sighed, happy but exhausted. The children and their families had left, as had most of the press. “Santa” had gone over to talk to his dad, and everything seemed okay there.

“Well, great job, lady,” Juliet said, sidling up to her.

“Yeah,” she sighed. “I think it went well.”

“It was fabulous.” Angelina joined them.

“And what a hunky Santa,” Meg teased, lifting her chin toward Rick, who had sat back down on his Santa’s chair while several photographers snapped his photo. He’d been posing all night, infinitely patient with the attention from both the press and fans. “The press showed up just to see him, you know.”

“Totally, that’s why I asked him.” The photographers finished and moved away.

“Do I get to sit on Santa’s lap?” Juliet teased, pretending to run over to him, while grinning broadly at Brandy.

Brandy took the bait, racing her to throw herself on Rick’s lap.

He caught her, laughing and wrapping his arms around her.

She tugged his beard down and kissed him, only to see flashbulb going off. She spun around, ready to tell the person off, but it was Angelina.

“I’m going to call this one... Naughty Moments with Santa,” she said, grinning. “May I print it? Pretty please?”

She looked at Rick, whose eyes crinkled. “I’d be honored to be featured in a picture with the owner of Phenomenal Physiques.”

She elbowed him in the ribs, laughing. “Okay by me. But I’m sure Stan Brown will start saying that we’re running a child slave trade from China or something.”

For a moment she worried it was too soon to joke, but everyone laughed and Rick’s arms tightened around her.

His father shuffled over and they both stood up. “Well, Rick, are you going to introduce me to your girlfriend?” he rasped.

To her satisfaction, Rick didn’t flinch. “This beautiful lady is Brandy Love, the owner of Phenomenal Physiques and the woman I hope to marry someday, once I convince her.”

Brandy’s friends gasped, and gave her illicit thumbs’ up signals. Sam and Claire, who’d been hanging out with Meg’s kids watched with curiosity.

She extended her palm and shook Rick’s father’s hand.

  “I’m Darrell,” he said.

  “Nice to meet you.”

She noticed he didn’t lay claim to being Rick’s father, nor had Rick claimed him, but they were interacting. It was a start.

“Darrell, would you like to join us for Christmas dinner at my parents? Rick will be there.” She darted a glance at Rick, hoping he wouldn’t kill her. It was presumptuous of her and she wished she’d had a chance to ask him what he thought before she’d spoken.

Rick didn’t look upset, though. His eyes shone with appreciation.

The old man beamed. “Thank you, I’d like that.”

She smiled back. “Great, then it’s settled.”

Rick wrapped an arm around her waist and squeezed her against him. She sensed his appreciation pouring into her from the places their bodies connected. She fit there, nestled against his side. It seemed easy and comfortable, as if they’d always been together.

  Epilogue

Rick and his father arrived at Brandy’s parents for Christmas dinner. He’d spent the morning with his mother, but she had been invited to dinner with friends, so he’d left guilt-free. She had, however, insisted on meeting Brandy and her kids as soon as possible.

He shifted the giant box of presents he’d brought to tap on the door. Claire pulled the door open, her angelic smile full of Christmas excitement. “Rick!”

He loved her warm greeting. “Hi Claire.” He stepped in. “Did you meet my father, Darrell, at the Fostering Christmas event?”

Claire eyed his dad curiously and shook her head. “No.”

His dad stuck out his hand. “Hi there, young lady. I’m Darrell.”

Sam rounded the corner, followed by Brandy and a white-haired older version of Brandy.

Brandy rushed forward to take the gifts from him. “Please come in. This is my mom, Sylvia.”

He shook her hand. Her blue eyes were as sharp as Brandy’s, the intelligence beneath them just as bright. “Coach Morehouse, thank you for coming.”

  “It’s my pleasure.”

Brandy returned from depositing the presents, greeted his father with a kiss and hooked her hand in his elbow. “Come and meet my dad.
She beckoned to his father. “You, too, Darrell. Please come in.”

She led him to the living room, which was decked out with a tree in one corner, piled high with presents. A balding man sat in a recliner, his head turned in the direction of their entrance.

“Daddy, Coach Morehouse is here,” Brandy said brightly.

Although he didn’t speak, his face took on a look of exaggerated surprise and delight. He held out a trembling hand, seeming to work hard to unclench his fingers before they pressed palms.

He made sure to look him right in the eye and squeeze firmly. “Mr. Love, it’s a pleasure to meet you. I’m a big fan of your daughter.”

“It’s George,” Sylvia corrected him. “He’s a huge fan of yours. Always has been, and even more so since you started coaching high school. George was a lifelong educator and a high school principal.” The pride in her voice stirred him.

Her dad pointed a finger from him to Brandy and back again, a question forming on his face. “Yoooou?”

Brandy slid up right beside him, slipping her hand through his elbow again. “Yes, Daddy. I’m seeing Rick.”

Shocked pleasure registered on his face.

Brandy rolled her eyes. “I told him that before, but I guess he didn’t believe me.” There was an affectionate, teasing quality to her voice.

The Loves lived up to their name—there was no shortage of attachment here. It stood out in stark contrast to his own relationship with his father, but this time, rather than pain him, he felt hope. Like, with Brandy at his side, he might untangle the threads that held him prisoner, and find some resolution. Hopefully before his father died.

He looked over at his dad, who hung back, in the doorway and beckoned him in. “George and Sylvia, this is my dad, Darrell Morehouse. He’s just moved back to Houston this month.” He left out the to die part.

“Well, who wants to open their presents?” Rick chortled, returning to his role of Santa Claus.

“I do, I do,” the two kids sang out.

Everyone sat down and the kids passed out gifts.

“They’ve already opened gifts at their father’s this morning,” Brandy laughed. She looked happy, her face relaxed, her smile easy.

  He winked at her.

  She beamed back.

All these years he’d never known what he’d been missing. This. A big family. Kids. A strong, beautiful woman. He wanted to ask her to marry him already, but knew it was too soon. He’d need to court the kids first, and her parents. But by next year, he resolved, Brandy would be his, forever.
