Charming: A Modern Day Sexy Cinderella Story
Page 22
Curious, I sit down on the couch with the box in my lap and untie the white bow, and remove the lid. A note sits on top. Unfolding the paper, I begin to read.
Dear Ella,
Congratulations on your happily every after. We’re thrilled to have had a hand in making your dreams come true. I enjoyed getting to know you on your wedding day and after. Keep believing in magic, Ella, and love.
Here’s to your happiness,
Your Fairy Godmother (haha!) Faye CEO Fairytale Vacations
“What?” I mutter and set the note aside, my brain trying to wrap around the words. Unwrapping tissue from an object, I take out a photo frame and gasp when I see the photo inside. It’s Asher and me. We’re standing at the altar in the church where we were “married” in Mexico. He’s holding my hands and we’re looking into each other’s eyes. In the center, a book in her hand and a smile on her face is Faye. Our wedding officiate was Faye. The CEO of Fairytale Vacations.
Oh. My. God.
“Asher!” I call, “You’re never going to believe this!”
And then they lived happily ever after
THE END
Ever since I can remember I’ve been enchanted by princesses. When I was a little girl I’d imagine myself as each one as I would watch them find their true love. It’s always been my dream to write a book that was my own version of “Once Upon A Time,” and with Charming I feel like I have. The feeling is surreal, and my heart is full.
While writing Charming, I experienced some intense writer’s block. The story was there, but the words wouldn’t come. I am so incredibly lucky to have friends in my corner that ALWAYS cheer me on and do their best to motivate me and encourage me when I need it. With their help, I was able to keep pushing through. Georgia aka Gypsy, you’re my person and I can’t imagine doing this without you, I hope I never have to. Until we’re old and gray, right?
Mayra Statham, thank you for your pictures of Sam Heughan, messaging me constantly to see how my writing is going, for always telling me that you want another Jennifer Miller book and most importantly for being my friend.
Angela Corbett, thank you for helping me work out a big plot issue I was having. Thanks for not minding when I sent you text messages or Facebook messages at all hours and for letting me pick your brain. You made me feel like you were as excited for me to write this as I was to get it out of my brain, and that motivated me to keep going. Also, thank you for my new favorite phrase, “deep fried fucks.”
Glorya Hidalgo, Stephanie Brown, Vanessa Rohbock – I’m so lucky to have found friends in you. Our banter and laughs have added so much to my life and you are always right there with a kind word or telling me just what I need to hear. I waffle you.
Mom, thank you for loving me enough to take this journey with me. I’m lucky to have you, and appreciate your feedback and edits more than you could possibly know.
To Robin Harper with Wicked by Design, we make an amazing team. I am SO in love with this cover. We knocked it out of the park. Elaine York with Allusion Book Formatting, you always make me feel like I matter any and every time I contact you. You have a whole list of clients, but you always make me feel like you drop everything for me. I imagine we all feel this way about you, and it says so much about how amazing of a person and businesswoman you are. Amber Garcia with Lady Amber’s Reviews and PR, you are killing it. I’m so glad we are finally working together.
To my agent, Sarah Hershman, thank you. Here’s yet another one to add to your list of things to do. Ha!
To Jake and our girls, thank you for your patience, helping me name characters, telling everyone you know about my books and for dealing with me when my mind is somewhere else. I love you madly.
To you, my reader, thank you for taking this journey with me. Your unwavering support, notes, messages, and comments do not go unnoticed or unappreciated. I read and hold close to my heart all of your words. All I’ve ever wanted is to offer an escape for you the same way that books have always been one for me. Thank you for continuing to take a chance on me, and I hope that you’ve all found, or are taking life’s journey toward your own happily ever after.
Author Jennifer Miller was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois but now calls Arizona home. Her love of reading began when she was a small child, and only continued to grow as she entered adulthood. Ever since winning a writing contest at the young age of nine, when she wrote a book about a girl with a pet unicorn, she’s dreamed of writing a book of her own. The important lesson she learned about dreams is that they don’t just fall into your lap – you have to chase them yourself. Most importantly, she is a wife and mother, and is very lucky to have a family that loves and supports her in all things. She also has an unhealthy addiction to handbags and chocolate covered strawberries, neither of which she cares to work on.
