Death Prophecies 3: The Unknown Enemy Will Kill You
Page 31
The room erupted in cheers and Gabriel stood with them. He was shocked at being chosen to lead the next invasion and he felt that one of the three Fleet Admirals that led the fight in the Builder’s Galaxy should have been chosen instead. He looked at Janell, Heinrik, and Amy sitting next to him at the table and saw they were looking at him and cheering at the top of their voices. Janell walked over and he stood up just before she leaned in and planted a huge kiss on him and stepped back, “Gabe, we all feel much safer with you in command. I’m so proud of you.” Amy and Heinrik rushed up along with Scott and China. They jumped up and down and pounded him on the back. He had a huge grin and decided that perhaps it would work out. But he decided that there was something he had to do first. He turned and walked up to the podium. The cheers grew louder and he eventually raised his arms. When the room grew silent, he began telling them what had to be done.
Epilogue
Gabe stood outside on the grass and looked at the gazebo on the point that extended out into the river. The wedding was incredibly beautiful and he had to admit that Amy was the most beautiful bride he had ever seen. The dignitaries in attendance filled the space around the Gazebo and extended all the way back beyond he swimming pool. He looked out at the river and saw why Amy had named her flagship after it. It was incredibly beautiful and he saw a huge Manatee roll out of the water just beyond the point. He decided that he would take Amy up on her invitation to come and view the Manatees after things slowed down a little.
He thought back to when he stood up and addressed the gathering in the conference room. He told everyone present that the next time they went through a black hole, they were not going to come back until the threat was destroyed. There was cheering at his comment that stopped after he told them that not only were the Carand, along with all their planets going to be destroyed but also every other aggressive civilization in that galaxy would also be eliminated. There was no hope that any of them could ever be redeemed. The room was silent until Admiral Connor stood up and agreed with him. The cheers began again but he could tell there was concern about bombarding planets and killing innocent civilians. They would learn soon enough that there were no innocent civilians. Every being in that galaxy had evolved to be killers.
He looked over as Amy and Scott walked over to the wedding cake. He smiled as Scott kissed Amy tenderly. He immediately remembered Janell kissing him during the meeting. He touched his lips and had to admit that he wanted another one.
Janell walked up with two glasses of wedding punch, “I thought you might need this.” Gabe took the glass and saw Janell turn and look at the bride and groom. “Dillon would be so happy to see this. I just know he would approve of what’s happening.”
Gabe tilted his head and looked at her, “Do you think he would approve of us getting married?”
Janell’s head whipped around and he saw she was frowning, “I think you would need to worry more about what I would think than what Dillon would think.”
Gabe lowered his head and said, “Come on, Janell. You know you love me.” She stared at him with a furrowed brow and he sighed as he said, “Janell Dobson, will you marry me?” Janell dropped her glass of wedding punch into the grass and sprung forward. She wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him passionately. She finally broke the kiss and he opened his eyes, “Can I assume this means yes?” She immediately kissed him again and this time she didn’t break the kiss. He wasn’t about to end it; he was enjoying it too much.
Amy looked across the grounds and saw Janell and Gabe kissing. Her eyes grew moist and Scott took her hand, “What’s wrong, my Love?”
Amy wiped her eyes and looked into Scott’s eyes, “Somewhere, Dillion is smiling. He knows he can rest now that those he left behind have found happiness.”
“I love you, Amy.”
She fell into his arms and allowed her tears their freedom.
