Havoc and Mayhem

Nicky hung the phone back up and picked up the Virginia Slim burning in the ashtray on the coffee table and took a drag. She was beginning to get good at blowing smoke rings and tossed one in the direction of the giant Benetton teddy bear piled up in the corner. She put out the cigarette and sighed disgustedly at the ‘I-know-I-fucked-up-but-baby-please-give-me-another-chance’ gifts that Corbin sent. Nicky rolled her eyes. It was beginning to get annoying that Corbin could not accept the fact that what they once had was over. She got up and went over to her stereo then ran a long thin finger down the collection of costly CDs and came across one that put a smile on her face. She removed the shiny thin round disc from its jewel case and inserted it into the CD player, hit play and went back to the couch. Prince started singing ‘Do Me Baby’ and she opened her robe and began to rub down her body with cocoa butter. As she listened to the romantic melody that was both resonant and hauntingly beautiful, she thought back to the days when she and Tommy would make passionate love. Always the one to go the extra mile to get the job done, Tommy would never stop at foreplay and proceeded on to five, six, seven, eight play. Treating her body like a temple, making her feel like every part of her was lovely and delicious.

The more Nicky thought about her ex-husband’s big strong hands groping her, the hornier she became. It had been a long time since she had sex and her body was screaming out to be pleasured. It was especially hard to deal because when she was married she got laid on a regular basis and now, nothing. She felt like she had gone from being a millionaire to the poor house in the blink of an eye.

When she and Corbin started dating she thought that her drought was finally over, but after they attempted to have sex she knew it would not work out. After being married to a man who was the perfect package, with an incredible libido to boot, she could not see herself getting with someone who ejaculated prematurely as soon as he got a glimpse of her breasts, then had the audacity to not maintain another erection for the remainder of the night. As Nicky massaged her inner thighs she could feel her desire growing stronger. Unable to resist the urge any longer she pushed her photo album on the floor and gave in to her body’s demands and leaned back, closed her eyes and slid her hand down her flat stomach and inside her panties. As she caressed herself she fanaticized that it was Tommy’s big hands fondling her breasts and causing her juices to flow. Seven minutes into it she was so moist she could slide out of her seat, when the phone rang again. She cut her eyes over at the phone then squeezed them shut and tried to block out the annoying ringing and concentrate on achieving an orgasm. Success was in her grasp as her body began to spasm and she could feel herself cumming when the answering machine inappropriately came on.

‘This is Nicky, you know what to do.’- BEEP

“Hello Nicolette-oops I mean Nicky. Sorry, I apologize, I know you don’t like me calling you Nicolette. In any event, it’s me Corbin. Hello? Please Nicolette, ugh I’ve said it again. Please pick up the phone, I know you are home. The lights are on.”

“Shit!” Nicky gritted her teeth and tried to hurry up and cum. She felt like getting up and picking up then slamming down the receiver but she feared that if she did she would lose the moment.

“Nicky? Come on Nicky. I’m certain we can get past this. For heaven’s sake, we are two mature adults here.”

Nicky sat up pissed and swore loudly. She had lost the moment. She snatched up the receiver. “What?” she hissed.

“Nico-Nicky! Hi. How are you.” Corbin stuttered.

“I was fine! What do you want?”

  “Only to talk.”

Nicky snatched her robe closed and went over and smacked the power button on the CD player. When she plopped back down she realized that she had smeared a toenail. “Shit!” Now she was really livid. “Corbin we’ve said everything that needed to be said to one another the other night. And while we are on the topic I want you to stop leaving bears and candy and flowers outside my door. Oh, and just so you know, I know it was you that called here a little while ago and hung up.”

“Nicky I haven’t the foggiest idea what you are talking about. This is my first time calling you. I swear it.”

“You really expect me to believe that?”

“Yes, I do. Just like I expect you to believe that I am sorry for saying those things about you and Tommy. Nicky I love you.”

“Well get over it. I did!” Nicky hissed void of emotions.

  “Why you-you…cold-hearted bitch!”

Nicky was slack-jawed. Her eyes became balls of pure fire. “What did you just call me?”

“Oh, so that you heard huh? Typical. Here I am spilling my heart and soul out and I might as well be talking to the blasted wall for what it’s worth! But I call you out of your name and that you hear. I guess it’s safe to say tha-”

“Listen up you weak, pathetic little man! If you ever call my house or come by again, so help me I’ll-”

“You’ll what?” Corbin said almost daring her, like he was above the law.

“I’ll get Tommy to kick your punk ass! Test me if you think I’m bullshitting!” Nicky threatened.

There was a long pause on the other end as Corbin pictured Tommy doing the moonwalk on his chest. “Sweetheart listen to me I-”

  KLICK!

Once Corbin disrespected her there was nothing else left to say. In all the years she was married to Tommy things were not always like his Nana would say, ‘peachy-keen.’ Like regular couples they had their share of fights. But no matter how angry and upset they got with one another, he never raised his hands to her and never under any circumstances did he ever call her out of her name. And how she saw it, if she did not receive that kind of verbal abuse from her own husband, then she damn sure was not about to take it from this loser.

Nicky was so angry she entertained the idea of still telling Tommy to kick his ass. Even if his heart now belonged to Donnie she knew she could still count on him to have her back. But there was no way she’d do something like that. She was about to head into the kitchen when suddenly the doorbell rang. She approached the door with caution then glanced at the phone. If that was Corbin she was going to have Tommy reach out and touch someone!

“Who is it?” she called out.

  “It’s me, Tee-Tee.” A shy voice replied.

“Tee-Tee?” Nicky repeated. “What are you doing here?” she unlocked the door and was surprised to find Tee-Tee was standing outside her doorway by herself smiling and lugging a Hello Kitty traveling bag. “Tee-Tee what on Earth are you doing here? Where’s Tommy?”

“He just left but he’s coming back later.”

“Later?” she looked past Tee-Tee and spotted her brother’s Jeep drive off.

“Uh-huh, he said to give you this.” Tee-Tee explained and handed Nicky a folded note.

Nicky took the note and opened it. “I apologize if we are imposing, but you know I would not do this unless it was a life or death situation! You two sit tight and I will explain everything when I get there. –Tommy” After reading the note she was even more confused.

Nicky decided to wait until Tommy got there to ask what in the hell was going on. “Are you hungry?”

“Nah-uh. I already ate McDonalds.” Tee-Tee said fascinated with Nicky’s aquarium. “Nicky your fishies is pretty. Can I feed them?”

“Huh? Oh, sure you can, sweetie.” Nicky said. She almost did not hear her because she was deep in thought wondering, ‘What in the hell was Tommy thinking? Dropping Tee-Tee over at her place unannounced. Then pulling off like that?’ Then it all made perfect sense. Havoc had a consulting gig and he needed a babysitter. This did not set well with her and she planned to let him know it, whenever he showed up.

  Chapter 27

The sky was the color of ink and the moon was a pearly crescent as Tommy pulled up onto the curb of a silent block. He eased out and pulled his sweatshirt’s hood tightly over his head. Before taking a step, he looked everywhere at once checking to make sur
e he wasn’t being followed then sprinted around the corner to Donnie’s building. He was about to ring her bell when he spotted Donnie’s busybody neighbor, Onetta Jackson, standing in the lobby sorting her mail. Suddenly the little Yorkshire terrier at her feet began yapping at the top of its lungs.

“What’s wrong with my wittle Schnoogie-Woogie?” Onetta asked smiling at her baby pooch Miss Thing. She looked up and her eyes went wide. She scooped up her dog and was about to run upstairs when the menacing looking man outside her co-op pounded on the window.

“Wait Onetta, hold up! It’s me Tommy. Donnie’s man.” He said pulling back his hood.

Onetta caught her breath and calmed down once she recognized Tommy and let him in. “Tommy?

“Yeah. Why’re you treating me like a Jehovah Witness?”

“Cause you almost gave me a heart attack! -Damn! What happened to your eye man?” she asked pointing in his face.

  “I ran into a door.”

Onetta twitched her lips. “Umm-hmm. And I’m a size six.”

  “Anyway-have you seen Donnie?”

“Yeah she’s upstairs,” she said then blocked his path. “But hold on there Hulk. I wouldn’t go up there if I was you.”

  “Why not?”

“As if you didn’t know, Mister sneaking around with his ex-wife on the down-low.” Onetta smirked nudging him in the ribs.

  “She told you huh?”

“She ain’t have to. I could hear her and her loud ass friends from my terrace cause they got the door wide open. Not like I was eavesdropping or nothing mind you. The building’s super has the heat turned up too high.” she said making excuses.

  “Friends?” Tommy said concerned.

“Uh-huh, a whole bunch of ‘em are over there having a ‘Pity-party. And guess who for?”

“Can this night possibly get any worse?” Tommy groaned smacking himself in the head. “So do you think I have a chance?”

“With me, in a heartbeat Stud muffin. With her weelll-I dunno. She sounded pretty pissed.”

Tommy paced the lobby for a minute then took Onetta by the shoulders looking desperate. “Let’s go up to your place.”

“Oh baby, I thought you’d never ask!” Onetta grinned from ear to ear.
