Rescue Me

“I’ll let you know what I hear in the next few days.”
Alyssa stared at the door as it shut behind John then looked at Sam. He was still rooted at the kitchen table and looked like he had wanted to cry.
“Please don’t leave me, Alyssa. Please.”
“I don’t know what to say, Sam. I want to scream! This isn’t fucking fair.” She stood. “Why is she doing this to you?”
Sam shook his head. “Fucked if I know.”
“Could she be pregnant?”
“Lys!”
“I had to ask, Sam.”
“I can’t imagine why. We used protection . . . oh I hate explaining this to you. See? This is what I mean. You don’t deserve any of this, Alyssa,” he said. He ran his fingers through his blond hair.
Alyssa walked over to the table. She sat on his lap and held his face in her hands.
“We’ll get through this, Sam. It’s going to suck but I’ll be here with you.”
“I don’t deserve you. You are the best thing that has ever happened to me.”
Sam stood with her in his arms. He carried her to the bedroom and made love to her twice.
* * * * *
“I’m starving!” Alyssa announced as they dressed.
“Me too. We never did get to that breakfast. Let’s go grab a pizza or something,” Sam said.
They decided on pizza and had it delivered. The rest of the afternoon was spent snuggling on the couch watching movies and napping.
The days seemed to fly into weeks. Alyssa had spent Thanksgiving with Sam and his family. It was on the top ten list of best days ever spent! She absolutely adored his family – even Connor. He truly was a wonderful guy who just acted like a bozo most of the time. Alyssa figured that would change when the right girl came along.
Alyssa came out of the bathroom. She lay back in bed, entangling herself with Sam.
“Do you think we are?” Sam asked.
“I don’t know. We’ll know in three minutes.”
Alyssa had just taken a pregnancy test. Her periods were never exactly the same every month but Alyssa felt it should have happened by now. She had been getting headaches lately which happens in the early stages of pregnancy due to the surge of the pregnancy hormone, HCG.
“Do you want me to go look?” Sam asked.
“No. Let’s go together.”
They jumped off the bed and went into the bathroom. The stick sat on the sink counter, boasting two pink lines.
“What does two pink lines mean?”
“It means we’re pregnant, Sam!”
Sam picked Alyssa up and twirled her around. When he stopped, he put her down and kissed her mouth.
“Congratulations, Lys. You’re going to be a mom.”
“I can’t believe this. It just doesn’t seem real. I have to call Kat and tell her.”
Alyssa ran to the kitchen and fished her phone out of her purse. “Yea. Okay. Love you too, Auntie Kit Kat.” Alyssa hung up and looked at Sam. He had pulled on sweats and met her in the kitchen. The sweats hung off his hips, hiding part of the V on his abdomen. Alyssa licked her lips.
“I don’t know if I should be turned on or scared right now . . .” Sam said.
“Why?”
“You look like you want to devour me.”
Alyssa walked towards him, smiling devilishly at him. She took his hand and led him back into the bedroom.
“You should be very scared right now,” she said. She grabbed the elastic waistband of his sweats and slowly pulled them down. Her eyes never left his as she knelt in front of him and took his entire hard length into her mouth.
“Lys. You feel amazing.”
She sucked and licked him until he came into her mouth. When he was done, he pulled her up so they were face to face.
“I’m never going to get enough of you,” he said. He nuzzled her neck while breathing in her scent.
“I’m glad to hear it.”
“Are you?” He looked at her. “I was afraid that the sex would be over once I got you pregnant.”
Alyssa laughed. “That was the plan in the beginning, but I don’t want that now if you don’t.”
“Oh Thank God!” Sam lifted her up and put her legs around his waist. He walked over the bed and lay her down gently. His forehead wrinkled.
“Lys, should we do this? Won’t I hurt the baby?”
“You won’t hurt the baby, Sam. I promise. Now fuck me already.”
She grabbed his hips and pulled him down onto her.
“I don’t like to keep a lady waiting.” Wasting very little time, he spread her legs and entered her until he was fully inside of her. His eyes never left hers as he slowly made love to her.
Chapter Eight
Three months had passed since two pink lines appeared on Alyssa’s test stick and rocked Sam’s world. The mornings had been particularly rough. Sam made sure that he was up before her every morning, even on his days off. He made her toast with peanut butter and brought it to her along with a glass of ice water. Breakfast of champions.
Once the morning sickness seemed to subside, Alyssa woke early to reinstate her run routine. Sam objected at first, until Alyssa’s physician said that it was perfectly safe because she’d been a runner before the pregnancy. Since it was the middle of March, the roads were snow-covered and icy. Sam insisted that she run inside. He went out and purchased one of the most expensive treadmills the store had.
No one knew Alyssa was pregnant except Kat and Sam. He relished in the small changes his child had made in her in such a short time. Her face had become more radiant, she now ate more than he did and her sex drive was through the roof! She had turned into an insatiable sex kitten, not that he was complaining. He loved it. He loved everything about her.
Sam spent less time at his own apartment on his days off. His wardrobe slowly mingled with Alyssa’s in her walk-in closet. It had never been discussed between them. It just occurred organically.
It was so easy co-existing with her. On the nights he wasn’t at the firehouse, dinner was ready and waiting when Alyssa walked through the door.
“It smells so good in here,” she said. He heard the sound of her keys hit the small table in the entryway and the somewhat heavy sound of her footsteps as she headed to the kitchen. To him. Sam was busy setting the table for two when she walked in.
“Hello, gorgeous,” he said. He went to her and kissed her squarely on the mouth. He loved this time of day when they reconnected. He wrapped his arms around her waist and lifted her. “How was your day?”
“It was really good. Thankfully I’m not feeling like a zombie anymore.”
“Glad to hear it,” Sam said. He put her down. “I hope you’re hungry. I made the chicken broccoli bake with rice that you love so much.”
“You obviously want to get into my pants tonight.”
“Guilty.” Sam grinned.
“Well, food seems to be the way to do it these days,” she said.
“I’ve noticed. I’m glad you eat like you do. It’s so good for the baby.”
“Yeah, but not for my ass. It’s huge!”
“I love the way that your ass and everything about you is changing because of my baby. Now sit and eat. You’ll need energy for what I have planned tonight.”
“Yes, sir.” She mocked-saluted him with a grin.
They talked while they ate. When finished, they stood side by side at the sink rinsing and loading the dishwasher.
When the last dish was placed, Alyssa went into the bedroom to change. Sam was on the couch, drinking a beer, when she reappeared.
“No fair,” Alyssa said. She sat next to him and pouted.
Sam laughed. He handed her a mug. “I made you some tea.”
She stuck her tongue out but took the steaming beverage from him.
“Elizabeth and Peter’s invitation arrived today. Mark the calendar, it’s June 28th at the Cape.”
“Oh good. Did you fill it out yet?”
“Not yet.”
Sam took another swig of his beer. “I’ll do it tomorrow. I spoke to Dad today as well. The judge approved the paternity test. They do what’s called a fetal cells analysis of the mother’s blood. They need my sample as well.”
“It won’t hurt the baby, will it?”
“No. I looked it up on the internet. I read of two other ways to test but they seemed very invasive and carry a lot of risk to the baby. I wouldn’t want that. It’s not the kid’s fault.”
“So when is it going to be done?”
“Dad is working on that right now. She has to be at least fourteen weeks, I guess. I think she’s well over that benchmark, wouldn’t she be? Anyway, I asked Dad to just schedule an appointment for me. I just want this whole fiasco over with.”
“What happens if the baby is yours?”
“I don’t know. I certainly won’t let the child go without. I will support it. But with this ridiculous assault charge hanging over my head, who knows if I’ll ever be able to see it.”
“That reminds me. Shouldn’t I make a statement about what happened that night? Since I heard the two of you going at it like monkeys?”
Sam leaned his head back and covered his eyes with the palm of his hand.
“Lys. You’re killing me.”
“Well I did.”
“I know but I don’t think I want Dad knowing about all of that.”
“You have no choice. It’s her word against yours. And if this child is really yours . . .”
“I get it. I’ll call Dad tomorrow and tell him what you know and if he thinks that it would help. But with you being my girlfriend, I doubt it will hold up in court if it gets to that point.”
“Okay. It’s worth a shot. You’re not a rapist.”
Alyssa put her mug down and snuggled into him. Sam draped his arm around her, drawing her in. Alyssa’s fingers trailed down his abdomen and dipped beneath the elastic waistband of his sweatpants. Her fingers wrapped around him and began moving up and down slowly. His shaft grew thicker with each powerful stroke. Alyssa shifted so that she was on her knees in front of him. With one quick pull, she had his sweatpants laying in a pool at his feet. His erection sprung forward once it was released from its confines.
“Oh, I love it when you go commando,” she said. She licked her lips as if she held a large lollipop. Without wasting any time, Alyssa wrapped one hand around him as her mouth encircled the head. Sam stared at her mouth while her tongue and lips worked their magic. She was amazing, this girl of his.
He gasped when she took him into her mouth. He held her head in his hands and raised his hips, pushing himself deeper. She opened her throat and took his entire length as he pumped in and out of her wet, hot mouth. No one had ever given him head like this girl. His breathing hitched as she continued to blissfully torture him.
“Lys . . . I . . .” Alyssa didn’t stop. Her efforts became faster. Sam couldn’t hold it anymore. He yelled out her name as he pumped his hot fluid into her mouth. Their eyes locked while she lapped every last drop of him.
“You’re a minx, you know that?”
He kicked off his sweats and leaned down to grab her at the waist. Sam tossed her over his shoulder which triggered a yelp from her lips.
“What are you, a caveman? Put me down.” She drummed his behind with both hands as he carried her into the bedroom.
He gently lay her down. He stared into her lust-filled eyes. She was so beautiful. Slowly, he undressed her, taking a moment to lean down and kiss the area where his baby slept, nestled and safe. Alyssa ran her fingers through his hair. He moved closer to her wet center, leaving a hot trail of kisses as he went. She whimpered when he made one long stroke up her velvety slit with his tongue. He suctioned his lips around her pink nub, slurping relentlessly until she cried out when the first orgasm of the evening hit her. Her body suddenly went limp. He slowed his assault and locked eyes with her again.
“It’s my turn to torment you now.”
He smirked as he slid one finger in, then two. He made love to her with his fingers. She was always so wet for him. Alyssa arched her back to take him deeper and moved her hips to match him thrust for thrust. Sam knew, at that moment, that he would never get enough of her.
“Uh . . . don’t stop.” Within seconds, Alyssa convulsed hard around his fingers. She fisted his hair as she cried out his name. He was surely going to be bald by the age of thirty-five if she kept that up. He felt her body relax and slowed his fingers until he finally pulled them out.
“Let’s give you one more, shall we?”
Sam flipped her over onto her stomach. Alyssa instinctively raised her ass up in the air.
“Such a beautiful ass,” he said, running his fingers down the crack. His thumb ran circles around her puckered hole. He was sure Jack had never claimed her there. Shit! The man had never even gone down on her and she was delicious! What an idiot that guy was. Alyssa moved her hips in corresponding circles to his efforts. Slowly, he pushed through her tight defenses. Alyssa pushed her face into the pillow while she continued circling his thumb.
“Oh, Sam. That feels so good.”
Sam positioned himself at her opening with his other hand and plunged deep inside. He pulled out just enough so the tip remained then he plunged again. And again. Alyssa began pushing back into him, taking him as deep as he could physically go.
“You like me fucking you in both holes, Alyssa?”
That’s another thing he loved about her. She loved to talk dirty in the bedroom. His sweet and innocent Alyssa was a shit talking sex kitten.
“Yes! Sam. Yes!”
“That’s my girl.” Sam reached around with his free hand and found her love button.
“Give it to me, Alyssa. Come all over me,” he said.
His words were her undoing and her body convulsed around him. Sam pumped into her a few more times before he found his own release.
“Wow!” Alyssa said. He lay beside her and ran his still-sticky fingers along her cheek.
“You mean everything to me, Lys. You are my wow.”
Alyssa opened her eyes and stared into his. She pulled his face down to hers and kissed him.
“Ditto.”
Sam went into the bathroom and wash his hands and was back in bed pulling her into him. They spent the rest of the evening snuggled in bed. After watching three sitcoms, they fell fast asleep in each other’s arms.
Chapter Nine
“I’m craving pizza,” Alyssa told Kat. They walked out of the store, having spent three hours “window shopping” for baby furniture. Alyssa wanted to make the final decisions with Sam but she had needed a girls’ day with her best friend. Kat had insisted that they go anyway.
“Pizza it is!”
The pizzeria happened to be in the same plaza so they decided to walk the short distance. Alyssa spotted a truck from Sam’s firehouse parked in front of the restaurant.
“I wonder if Sam’s getting lunch,” Alyssa said, her pace quickened. “I can’t wait to tell him what we found.”
“The crib is beautiful.”
Alyssa reached the door first and held it open as Kat passed by her and stopped dead in her tracks. Alyssa followed Kat’s gaze. The restaurant was packed for a Saturday afternoon. After a few moments, Alyssa spotted Sam at the counter with four other fire fighters and a petite blonde. Sam’s arm was draped lazily over the girl’s shoulder. He leaned in and whispered something in her ear. The tramp threw her head back and laughed, placing her hand on Sam’s chest. Her Sam. Alyssa recognized the girl as one of his sleepover guests from the past. She stood, as disoriented and in as much physical pain as if she’d been kicked by a horse in the stomach.
Before Alyssa could protest, Kat moved swiftly through the crowd. This wasn’t going to end well for Sam. Kat tapped Sam on the shoulder and to Alyssa’s astonishment, she watched her best friend make a fist and connect it to Sam’s face. Kat got in two Hay Makers before Sam was able to grab her arms.
“What the hell, Kat. What was that for?

“Are you fricken’ kidding me right now?” she said. “You have your arm around this bimbo as if you don’t have a girl at home. A girl carrying your baby.”
“Hey.” The bimbo huffed.
Sam blanched and turned towards Alyssa. She felt the tears pooling in her eyes. This was not happening. She was not going to cry here, in front of him. Alyssa turned and exited the building before the first tear escaped and trickled down her cheek. She was half way to Kat’s parked car when he caught up to her.
“Lys . . .” Sam grabbed her arm and turned her to face him.
“Don’t you ‘Lys’ me! I recognize her, Sam. You’ve slept with her before. Why, Sam? Why?” Alyssa couldn’t stop the tears now. Her entire face was wet with them. How could he do this to her? She would never be able to trust him, would she? She’d just been fooling herself that he could change.
“I’m sorry, Lys. She was here first and came over to say hi. It meant nothing. Please, Lys. You have to believe me.”
Alyssa shook her head and grabbed the handle to the passenger side door. Kat had already started the car and sat quietly waiting for her.
“No, I’m sorry, Sam. I’m sorry that I thought you could grow up and be a real man.”
She threw herself into the front and shut the door.
“This isn’t over!” she heard him yell as Kat raced out of the parking lot.
Yes it is, Sam. Yes it is.
Alyssa was silent on the way home, taking in the scenery as they drove by. Kat, the greatest friend ever, drove in silence as well, knowing her bestie needed the quiet at that moment. When they arrived at Alyssa’s, Kat killed the ignition.
“Are you okay? Do you want me to come in?”
Alyssa sat silently, looking straight ahead. A tear escaped and she hastily brushed it away.
“I thought he had changed, Kat. I mean, he practically moved in. He cooks me dinners and rubs my feet at night. But I guess one girl isn’t enough for him.”
“Men are such assholes. They can never seem to think past their dicks.” Alyssa nodded.
“To answer your question, no, I’m not okay. But I will be. I’m going to go in and take a nap in hopes that when I wake up, I’ll realize this was all a dream.”
