"Thank you, it's wonderful to meet you too. You have such a beautiful home."
"Well your family so you consider it home too."
"You're too kind. So where's my nephew?"
"He's out in the backyard playing. Come on, I'll take you back there." Nichelle followed Mrs. Washington and Genesis stayed behind when he saw Mr. Washington coming down the stairs.
"Genesis, my wife told me that you've reunited with your sister. I'm happy for you."
"Thank you, Jeffrey. I have some news to share that I hope will bring you some sense of happiness too."
"There is only one thing you can tell me that would do that."
"The murder of your daughter and my wife has been avenged."
"Genesis, I didn't think I would ever hear those words come out your mouth."
"I know you had your doubts and I'm glad I can finally put those doubts to rest. We'll never get Talisa back but the people who are responsible for taking her away from us have now been erased."
"Thank you," Jeffrey said shaking Genesis' hand. "When it's my time to go, it will now be in peace."
Precious was sitting in bed watching CNN on the flat screen television. The last few weeks had been difficult for her and Supreme but once again they were able to come through the storm stronger than ever. After he promised to abandon any attempt on ending Nico's life and discussed all the issues that had plagued their marriage they were now more in love than ever.
"Baby, you were supposed to be here hours ago," she said putting the television on mute.
"Sorry, babe, but this new artist I got is a handful. Is everything okay?"
"Everything is better than okay, especially since I'm pregnant." Supreme's face lit up like the Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center.
"Are you sure?"
"Positive! I took the home test and I went to the doctor. We're having a baby!"
"Damn, I love you," Supreme yelled lifting Precious off the bed and into his arms.
"Baby, wait a minute.. .isn't that Maya on TV." Precious grabbed the television and turned up the volume.
"That can't be true," Supreme said, putting Precious down.
"Maya's conviction has been overturned and she's going to be released on bail pending her new trial. What the fuck!"
"Precious, calm down. You're pregnant and I don't want you getting upset. I'll handle this."
"I guess Quentin made his choice and it damn sure wasn't me."
"Fuck Quentin and Maya, you got me. If he knew what was best for his daughter, he would make sure she stays behind bars. But that's okay. They'll learn the hard way. 77
Precious stared at Supreme and could read the thoughts going through his head and none of it was good. But Supreme was her husband and whatever he decided to do she would not only back him up but be right by his side. They were a family and the only people she cared about protecting were him, the baby growing inside of her and Aaliyah.
The Future
Aaliyah
Ring... ring... ring
"Hello."
"Mommy, it's me, Aaliyah." Precious glanced over at the clock to see what time it was.
"Where are you and why are you calling so late?" Precious wanted to know trying to snap out of her sleep.
"I've gotten myself in a bit of a situation."
"What sort of situation? And where are Amir and Justina? I thought you were supposed to be with them tonight?"
"I am...I mean I was but something came up."
"Cut the bullshit, Aaliyah. What the hell is going on?"
"I'm in jail and I need you to come get me out."
"Jail!" Precious screamed it out so loud that it awoke Supreme from his sleep. "You're in jail!"
"Yes. And could you please not yell. I already have a migraine headache as it is."
"Aaliyah, what are they charging you with?" Precious asked. She gripped the phone trying to stop herself from wanting to reach through it and snatch her daughter up.
"First Degree Murder."
