Cartel Dreams: A Love Story

I couldn’t believe how hot she was over this shit. Usually by now she would have been gotten over a nigga but this one had her wrapped tight for some reason. I reached over to my end table and cranked the small table radio on turning it up a bit, allowing Beyoncé to serenade me. I swear that song got me all in my feelings every time.
…Later on in my destiny
I see myself having your child
I see myself being your wife
And I see my whole future in your eyes
Thought of all my love for you
sometimes make me wanna cry
Realize all my blessings
I'm grateful
To have you by my side.
I am in love with you
You set me free
I can't do this thing
Called life without you here with me
Cause I'm Dangerously In Love with you…
Reluctantly and bored, I texted Embry back.
Me: What’s good chick? My bad. I was a little tied up this past weekend. What you doing?”
Embry: Fuck you bitch. I’m glad you had fun.
Me: Well what the fuck is your problem?”
Embry: You. You are my problem. I can’t believe I actually thought that you were the one friend whom would never fucking hurt me.
Me: What are you crying about now, Embry?
Embry: You bogus as hell. You knew I was checking for dude and you come in snatching him right from up under me. Now you posting pics talking about you flying all over on Facebook and shit. That shits wrong, D.
Me: He chose me, Embry. I didn’t force him. If he was yours then why didn’t you get him? Exactly, because he wanted me.
Embry: You’re a real bitch. You know that. Don’t call me anymore. We are not friends.
Me: Embry. Embry, you’re overreacting.
There was no response back. Embry was all in her feelings because Quince chose me to be with instead of her. It wasn’t like I was cock blocking or sabotaging her on purpose. Quince never wanted her. If he did he wouldn’t have been all up into me. We connected on a much higher plane than she and he did. Embry obviously was throwing too much booty and not enough cutie.
Real men waited on the their queens to reveal their true selves to them before they chose to wife them. Shrugging my shoulders at Embry’s silence, I became annoyed by her lack of happiness for me. Fuck it. I cranked the music up to my stereo thinking that eventually she would be back when she needed a shoulder to cry on. She always came back.
“Ms. Daisy. Did some shopping I see?” An eerie voice said from out of my closet.
I jumped up with the quickness wishing I could get to my box cutter in my purse before this person revealed him or herself. My heart felt like it was about to jump up out of my chest as the closet door pushed open and my eyes widened at the person that stepped out. I quickly kicked off my heels just in case there was a scuffle. I was ready to take this motherfucka down if I needed to with no problems.
“What are you doing in my motherfucking house?”
“Don’t get up on my account, Daisy. Please, take a seat.”
“No, I’m good standing. Thank you,” I breathed heavily trying to remain as calm as possible pulling my hair into a tight ponytail. “Now what the fuck are you doing in my bedroom?”
“I need a reason to pay my ex-roommate a visit. Awe, we’re much better than that now. Aren’t we?”
“Look bitch, I’m not gonna ask you again. What do you want Morgan?”
Her dense Boricua accent annoyed the shit out of me. I couldn’t wait to move out of the dorms after graduation so I could be rid of her ass. She was sneaky, conniving, and treacherous. Morgan was only in school on a scholarship she had weaseled or slept her way to get. She was a cold-hearted skinny bitch who gave very little about anyone but herself. We didn’t get along then so for her to be here acting like we were good was straight bullshit.
“I just needed to be able to find you and know where you were, sweet cheeks. You see, I have a friend who would like to speak to you. Says you owe him something. And he won’t rest until he gets it back chica.” She licked her tongue over her deep purple shaded lips.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about, Morgan. Now get the fuck out of here before I call the police,” I threatened.
“Oh I don’t think you will want to do that. I know you don’t want your precious beautiful mommi downstairs to find out your little secret now do we? Mommi will find out that her baby is not the good little girl she thought she was. And she might even…pay with her life because of it.” Morgan put two fingers to her mouth making a V-shape licking her tongue out between them. “Now we don’t want that now do we?”
“You’d better not touch my fucking mother bitch,” I growled charging right for her.
“Ah, ah, ah. I wouldn’t do that just yet.” Morgan whisked a gun from behind her back pointing it straight for me as I backed up slowly away from her.
“What the fuck do you want bitch?”
“I got my ass whooped because of you—“
“So what do you want? Revenge? You can’t take an ass whoopin’?” Tears tried to form in my eyes but sucked them back up refusing to show this bitch any weakness.
“No, I want you to get on your knees and make it all better bitch. You have a debt to pay and you need to get that shit together. You already know what the fuck I’m talking about too. You’ve got thirty days ho. Thirty days, so I suggest you start selling some of this Gucci and Prada shit you got up in here. I don’t even have this shit and I’m conning motherfuckas. Eh? I see you’re a high priced ho, huh?” Morgan walked around the room checking out all of my shit.
“They were all gifts.”
“Oh I’m sure they were kitten. And, I’m the Queen of Egypt,” Morgan scoffed. “You’ve got thirty days princess and not a day later. But the debt has risen by my twenty percent fee.”
“Ugh, your fee? What the fuck you get a fee for?”
“Look. At. My. Face.” Morgan pointed.
Her face was pretty banged up but it looked as though her bruises and cuts were healing. I had no idea what happened to her and I wasn’t about to ask. Really I didn’t even give a fuck. I just wanted her to leave back out of here the exact same way she came in this motherfucka. She caught me off guard but now that I knew that she was on to me, I would never get caught slipping again.
Her tight black jeans and tank top revealed her thin frame. I could take the bitch if I wanted to especially with my martial arts background. But that gun though. I wasn’t prepared to deal with this bitch, at least not in my house and not with my momma not knowing what I had done for her to be here. I couldn’t deny that I didn’t know what she was talking about.
“Leave. Now.”
“Fine. I’ll leave. Just remember doll face, you have thirty fucking days. If you don’t have the money by then, I’m going to enjoy handing you over to the motherfucka who wants you and I’ll happily watch as he rips that pretty pussy hole to pieces.” Morgan stuck her tongue out at me flickering it around like a snake before heading to the window.
Once I saw that she was out of sight, I launched my phone across the room hitting the wall. It had the Otter box on it so it shattering wasn’t even an option. After closing and locking every window in my room, I snatched up my phone heading down the stairs. Panic was beginning to set in as my thoughts shifted to what I had done. I knew exactly what Morgan was talking about despite my attempts to play dumb. I just didn’t think this would ever come back to bite me in the ass like this. Not like this.
“Now where are you going, Daisy?” Momma asked sitting up from the couch as I unlocked the front door.
“Momma, close and lock all the windows and doors in the entire house. If that bitch you said visited earlier comes back here, call the fucking police.” I ran out the house shutting the door behind me just as she was attempting to ask me what was going on.
I darted over to Quince’s house opening the door fast bef
ore she saw me going in. I breathed a sigh of relief but my heart was still pumping a mile a minute. Taking a glance around his house, his expensive furniture was all neat and clean in its place. He wasn’t lying when he told me his house was really nice. It made me wonder what it was that he actually did for a living. Maybe momma was right. Maybe I should have dug deeper into his life to learn more about him besides the length and width of his dick and his tongue.
A quick bolt up the stairs brought me to three doors. One was the bathroom, the other was his huge luxurious bedroom, and the other was his office. His bedroom looked as if he knocked out a couple of walls to make it as big as it was. Our house was made the exact same way as his but we didn’t have that much room in one bedroom. His all black sheets with matching duvet comforter made me leery to sit or even sleep on it wondering how many other bitches’ secretions were spread across them. He was classy so he had to have changed the sheets after every escapade. Right?
In the office, I noticed it was the size of my bedroom and even overlooked it out the window. The room was filled with everything an office should have. There was a large wooden desk and a huge computer chair with two Mac computers perched upon the desk. It held file cabinets and there were a few papers scattered about the desk. I opened a few of the drawers just to be a bit nosey as to what he kept inside. Some of them opened revealing more paperwork and other drawers were locked and needed keys for access. Quince was even guarded from his self it seemed.
Underneath the large desk held a long silver combination safe. I dared not touch it for fear that a gun would pop out from nowhere and try to shoot me in the head. But I had one guess about what was in it. Money. And lots of it too. After seeing the amount he had in Miami, I knew it would be just the amount that I needed too.
It was as simple as figuring out the code, cracking it and getting all that I needed. It was nothing for me to dig into. The only thing that was holding me back were my feelings for Quince. If I did this, it would for sure have to be over for us. But I can’t risk everything that I have. My education, my career, my life would all be ripped away from me in the blink of an eye.
Opening another drawer revealed about ten stacks of wrapped bills, twenties. Salivating over the bills, I searched my surroundings to make sure the coast was clear. I was literally mesmerized at the fucking thought, just staring at the wrapped cash feeling like it was a sign for me to take the money from Quince to save my own ass. I needed this fucking money, probably a hell of a lot more than he needed it. My eyes examined the room wondering if there were any cameras in his office watching this money. A man of his caliber wouldn’t dare leave this kind of cash out without having a way to keep an eye on it first.
My mind shifted to the happy thoughts Quince and I could have together if I didn’t do this. It was like he would give me the world on a stick if I asked for it and even if I didn’t. He respected me and my values but he didn’t know that I was holding in a deep dark secret that could quite possibly destroy us and everything we had. I was more than meets the eye. But I couldn’t just go to him and ask him for the money. He would ask me what it was for and I would regretfully have to tell him. Even if I told him, he could possibly leave me seeing as though my good girl persona would be tarnished in his eyes forever.
Tears rolled down my eyes abundantly. I couldn’t stop them as I slid down on the floor beating it with my fists trying to figure out what to do. I didn’t want to lose Quince but it seemed either way I would end up doing so forever. The money in the drawer wasn’t nearly enough to get me out of the bind that I was in but it was for damn sure a start and might buy me some time. The safe, I would leave alone but the loose cash in the drawer… I reached my hand inside gradually pulling out one of the stacks gazing at it like it was everything I needed and more. I gazed at it like it was rightfully mine.
Chapter 15
Quince
Later that night
…A bitch gon' be a bitch
A hoe gon' be a hoe
A killer gon' be a killer
That's sumthin' you need to know
Ain't no way around it, ain't no way around it
A dealer gon' be a dealer
A player gon' be a player
My niggas, them my niggas, they just like blood
Ain't no way around it, ain't no way around it
I had a young, hot thang fucked my bro and gave 'em brain
And she expect for me to love her, I can never be a lame…
“Alright. That motherfucka’s in there, Phantom. I mean I don’t know where the fuck this nigga came from. He just said he knew about our operation and shit. Said he wanted payment, a fucking allowance every fucking month or else he was turning us into the feds. He’s the motherfucka that was working with Steelo, bro. The nigga said his names on too many occasions. So we’ve gotta deaden this motherfucka right here, right now.” Montana was hyped as he turned the Future CD down to speak.
“Nigga, he’s a police captain. You think we need that kind of heat on us right now? We just started this shit,” I huffed. “We’re gonna lose this shit before we even get this shit.”
“Man, I don’t know about you but I ain’t willing to give up twenty percent of shit. So it’s either we do this or we get ready to be his bitches, Phantom.”
Montana had a point. I looked back at the two goons sliding their black facemasks over the heads and realized this shit was now or never. We jumped out of the unmarked black van making sure our masks were secure over our faces and sliding the gloves over our hands. Montana nudged me as we shut the van back doors. We walked across the street checking our ammo and cocking our guns back on some equipped shit. One could never be too prepared on the type of mission that we were on.
The street was dark and empty as we slithered through the gangway headed for the back door. The captain’s family had gone to bed, as the house was dead fucking silent when we snuck in. The kitchen resembled something from a MTV Cribs episode. It was beautifully renovated with stainless steel appliances and imported countertops. This nigga was definitely scheming money from somewhere. There was no way he could afford any of that shit on a cop’s salary regardless as to how many years he had been there.
Now he was looking to cash in on my territories and I wasn’t going. As we moved through the house as quiet as mice, I began to realize that eventually I would need to put some cops and judges on the fucking payroll to keep them quiet as most motherfuckas did in my position. It was the only way to survive in this business. But we weren’t as big as he thought we were just yet and he was already trying to tax what we hadn’t earned yet. His death would serve as a message to the next asshole bold enough to come to my niggas with that handout bullshit.
I turned my attention away from the scenery of his house as Montana threw up hand signals to head upstairs quietly. My footsteps followed his as we crept quietly through the darkness, being sure not to cause a stir. At the top of the stairs, I leaned against one wall as he hit the other side. With the goons nearby, I creaked one door open feasting my eyes on two beautiful little girls, no more than five or six years old. They appeared to be fast asleep in their identical pink netted beds. After closing the door securely, I joined Montana on the other wall peering inside a room where two people were rolling around under a long navy blue blanket.
“Make sure you hit that shit one time for me my nigga?” I chortled, as we walked in the room casually with our pieces down to our sides.
“Oh my God. Who the fuck are you? What the fuck are you doing here?” The Caucasian woman growled struggling to cover her naked tits as she reached for her cell phone.
“Bitch, don’t be stupid eh,” Montana cracked as my hand pointed the gun straight to the woman’s head.
“Who are you people?” The captain panicked.
“We them niggas,” I smiled aiming right for his fucking skull.
“What the hell do you want?” The captain scrambled to find his boxers.
The woman thought she was sl
ick. Her small frame leaned gradually reaching to snatch her nightgown really fast keeping one eye locked on me. It was as if she was studying my mannerisms and hoping she could figure out who I was. The solemn look on her face begged for sympathy of which I had none for her. After she slipped on her gown she tried again to reach for her phone as if I wouldn’t notice. My eyes locked onto hers prompting her to back up from the phone and press her back against the wall.
“Move again and I’m going to splatter your fucking brains all on your silk teddy. You got that?” I bawled.
“Captain, you decided that you wanted to be compensated for some shit that didn’t belong to you in the first place. And, for that you must go my friend.” Montana’s eyes were cold and stressed. “On your knees motherfucka.”
“Honey, what’s he talking about?” His wife asked clenching her nightgown close to her body. “Please don’t hurt him.”
“No, no. I only wanted a small piece. Just a taste to get my lips wet. That’s all. I would never tax you all. I promise,” The captain pleaded as he kneeled.
“Naw, you said you were going to turn motherfuckas into the feds. You said you’d better get a percentage or else. Ain’t that what you said, captain?” I walked up to him placing the end of the gun square between his eyes. “Don’t even bother lying bitch. We already know what the deal is.”
“Baby,” the woman winced trembling in sheer horror, crying out as tears poured from her blood shot eyes.
“Wait, wait. I didn’t pull the trigger on that though. It was Steelo’s idea, Leon Steel. But listen, listen. He told me you would pay out the ass and we could both get this money together,” the captain repeated frantically while his pale skin turned bright red.
“Steelo, huh? Well you must ain’t heard then. Ya nigga Steelo, met with a few hollow points a few weeks back.” Montana turned to me. “You seen him lately?”
“Naw, I haven’t seen him.” I cut my eyes oddly, aiming my piece sideways towards the good captain’s wife. “I ain’t seen shit.”
“Hmm… I wouldn’t worry so much about him, captain. He’s well taken care of,” Montana boasted. “Ya feel me?”
