“Still, who can resist the temptation of being the king?” said a vampire named Caleb, who seemed to be the mastermind behind this insurrection.

“You all do know that you will be severely punished once you are in the vampire world, right?” Alexander said, standing in front of Becca's unconscious body, not forgetting his promise of protecting her.

“Not if one of us becomes the king,” Caleb said and lunged towards Phil. Right then, a bear jumped at him and smashed him into a big tree.

“Only I can become the king, no one else,” Phil declared and summoned many wild animals with his powers, motioning them to attack the enemy vampires. Soon enough, that side of the Bellmor jungle was crawling with hungry crocodiles and lions which didn't know the difference between humans and vampires, only attacking at Phil's command.

Just as another vampire was about to bite into Becca behind Alexander's back, Alexander appeared behind him like a specter and grabbed him by the neck, altering the reality for him where the vampire was burning in the lava. Alexander's main priority was to protect Becca, come what may.

“These stupid vampires,” Vanessa cursed as she fought off a few vampires with her physical strength. Getting tired of using her limbs, she sat down on a tree branch and commanded, “Hey, you, please knock those three vampires out before dragging them back to the vampire world with you.” the vampire obeyed her command like a puppet as she used her persuasion power on him. “This is kinda fun.” Vanessa smirked as she saw those four vampires fight amongst each other.

Alexander was monitoring Becca and his surroundings carefully when a two-hundred-year-old vampire named Benedict appeared in front of him. “Ugh, not you,” Alexander groaned as Benedict has always managed to piss him off just with his annoying face while the words that spilled out of his mouth were even more annoying.

“Seems like the leader's brother failed to do the task he was assigned with,” Benedict mocked, eyeing Becca with luscious eyes. Alexander glared at him as he continued speaking, “Now I get why it was taking so long to get the potion from her. Were you having fun with this human?” With that, Benedict reached out for Becca and laid his hand on her cheek.

Right that instant, he was thrown off with a punch to his midsection. “Stay away from her,” Alexander warned, his voice dripping with rage. There was no way he would tolerate a filthy vampire laying a hand on Becca's soft skin.

“You think you are so much better than me just because you are the leader's brother, don't you?” Benedict spat out.

“You never won against me in all those years of schooling. How do you expect to win now?” Alexander challenged.

“Like this,” Benedict said and started creating white mists around Alexander which started to haze his vision. Creating mists was his special power. But as it was quite similar to Alexander's reality alteration, they always clashed with each other. However, undoubtedly, Alexander's power was much better.

Alexander altered the reality to a normal dark night of the Bellmor jungle and placed Becca underneath a tree as he didn't want Becca to witness him in such a dangerous condition that might terrify her if she were to wake up. He prepared himself to fight Benedict with everything he had, he knew it wouldn't be that easy as they were both of the same age.

Meanwhile, Caleb, who was knocked out by Phil in the beginning, got up and hurried to Becca. He gasped at her beauty and caressed her hair, pushing it behind her ear. “Oh, my, what a beauty,” he mumbled.

Then with his sharp fangs, Caleb bit Becca on her neck.

“No!” Alexander hollered when his eyes fell on Becca getting bitten by someone else. He threw a strong punch on Benedict’s face and rushed to Becca.

As Caleb sucked on her blood, he was roughly pushed by Alexander.

“You shouldn’t hav—” Alexander stopped midway when he saw Caleb coughing continuously, cracks appearing on his pale skin. “Caleb?”

Caleb’s vision started to get dark, feeling himself rotting away bit by bit. His toes started to vanish at first. “Blo…od,” he mumbled before disappearing into a thin air.

A heavy silence fell in the Bellmor jungle as all the vampires lowered their heads, mourning Caleb’s death.

“What just happened?” Vanessa was the first one to speak after two minutes of silence. “How did Caleb die when all he did was suck Becca’s blood?”

“I am damn sure Alexander did something,” Benedict uttered.

“I just pushed him away like I pushed Benedict before,” Alexander explained.

“Well, how can Caleb die if he drank Becca’s blood?” Phil asked. “I thought whoever was supposed to drink her blood would be the king, right, Pristine? You said that it would work.”

Pristine stayed quiet, trying to figure out what happened as she went and healed Becca’s vampire mark on her neck. She chanted something to heal it.

“How is Pristine getting these ideas?” Vanessa questioned Phil.

“She is reading ancient books and trying to find different ways to get the potion,” Phil answered.

Once Pristine healed Becca, who was still unconscious, Alexander asked her, “Pristine, why are you quiet?”

Pristine twitched her lips and let out, “Her blood contains poison for the vampires.”

“What?” Vanessa arched an eyebrow in confusion. “Elaborate, Pristine.”

“Becca is given the vampire potion with the power of protecting it as well,” Pristine informed all. “If a vampire bites her, that vampire will die, and that is what happened with Caleb.”

“So it means we cannot get the potion by partaking of her blood then,” Benedict said with a frown. “I am out.” With that, he went back to the vampire world, and other vampires decided to go along with him, leaving Phil, Vanessa, Alexander, and Pristine alone with Becca.

“Thank God, I didn’t suck her blood,” Phil said with relief.

Suddenly, Becca regained her consciousness. She glanced at Pristine, who was looking at her, and asked, “Who are you?” Pristine moved away while Becca got up and gave an accusing look to Alexander. “Did you really try to rape and then murder me, Alexander?” she asked, making others look at Alexander with amusement, while he groaned.

  Chapter 29: An Order

“For starters, I am here for the vampire potion, not to satisfy my sexual desires,” Alexander clarified to Becca, who still didn’t seem to believe his words.

“Then why would I be lying unconscious here in the middle of a jungle at night?” she pointed out.

“Someone explain to this fucking lady that I have no ill intentions towards her,” he grumbled in annoyance, running a hand through his hair.

“Alex didn’t do anything, Becca,” Vanessa stated after enjoying the drama when Alexander was accused by Becca.

  “See?” Alexander said to Becca.

Becca didn’t say anything as soon as her eyes fell on the man with different colored eyes. Her eyes pierced through his, and she didn’t get a warm feeling from him at all; rather it gave her goosebumps even by looking at him.

“Who are you?” Becca questioned Phil.

“This is my brother, Phil Insworthe,” Alexander introduced, then pointed to Pristine, “This is Pristine Grace.”

“Oh, I have heard about the two of you,” Becca mumbled and extended a hand to shake with Pristine first, who accepted it politely. “I am Becca Hertford,” she said and then shook hands with Phil.

When her hand came in touch with Phil’s, she felt a weird aura surrounding her, more like a malicious one. Phil didn’t seem the type of person Alexander told Becca about, and she didn't like what she was sensing from him.

“Nice to meet you at last, Becca,” Phil uttered with a jovial smile on his lips. He was back to his normal appearance from the vampire form after mourning for Caleb’s death with the other vampires. “You are beautiful.”

Becca smiled and removed her hand from his, turning towards Alexander and Vanessa, “So, what happened, and how did I faint?”

“Well, Pristine thought that the vampire potion could be gained after biting you and sucking your blood a little. Therefore, she made you unconscious,” Alexander spoke up, making Becca place her hand on her hips.

“So you knew it and even supported others to bite me,” Becca complained, but later on sighed, understanding that was the whole point from the start. “That was your job. Anyway, continue.”

“But the other vampires attacked us when Phil was about to bite and we had a skirmish, then a vampire bit you,” Vanessa said to Becca.

“What?” Becca gasped and placed her hand over her neck. “Did that vampire already become a king then?”

“Becca, he died,” Alexander informed her and took her hand in his, noticing that it was about to be dawn soon. “Your father will be in to check on you, so we should go.”

“Why did he die though?” she questioned to which Alexander didn’t want to answer.

Thus, Pristine answered instead, “Because your blood is poisonous for vampires. It's now clear that the potion cannot be attained by sucking your blood.”

“Wh—” Becca was interrupted by Alexander.

“Becca, you have to go back. Your father might come to check on you and find you missing.” Alexander didn't want her to stay here and get in any trouble later on.

Becca nodded and went back to her house with Alexander. Even though Hertford Manor had a strong spell as a barrier that would prevent other creatures from entering, Alexander could step onto Becca’s balcony freely since it was an open space.

“So, you protected me from the other vampires,” Becca stated to Alexander, who felt slightly guilty. She just blurted out whatever came into her head when she woke up.

“No, I couldn't protect you properly, even though I promised I would. Still, another vampire got to bite you,” he let out, sitting on the railing, his voice filled with regret. He shouldn't have let her out of his sight even for a second during the fight.

Becca placed a hand over his cheek, softly caressing it. Then, she said with a smile, “It’s okay. If that vampire didn’t bite me and Phil would have, he would be dead today. So, whatever happened, happened for the best.”

“Aren’t you mad that I didn’t tell you the truth about going into the Bellmor jungle?” he questioned.

She chuckled. “I promised to help you, so you are allowed to do so with or without my will. If I get to live a normal life after this potion is taken from me, I am happy to do so. I can eat warm food, and my dad wouldn’t keep me under such strict observations.”

A part of Becca didn’t want the potion to be taken because once taken, Alexander would leave her, and she wasn't ready to let go of him. Yet, she had to stick to her promise.

A smile evolved on his face at her words. “Okay, I will take my leave now,” Alexander announced and jumped out.

Becca sucked in a deep breath, watching Alexander leave. Then she went inside and tried to sleep before her dad arrived, but as usual, she was unable to sleep; it was as if she lost her ability to sleep forever, and yet she could survive the entire day without getting tired.

Meanwhile, Phil was waiting for Alexander to return along with Vanessa and Pristine.

Once Alexander returned, Phil said to him, “I have to head back and punish those vampires who attacked us. Meanwhile, make arrangements to bring Becca to the vampire world.”

Vanessa gasped and Alexander’s eyes grew as wide as saucers.

“Why to the vampire world?” Alexander asked Phil.

“She will be the only human there, it will be risky,” Vanessa uttered.

“We can try to observe Becca for a while and see how the potion can be attained,” Pristine informed the Insworthe twins.

“Ph—” Alexander was cut off by Phil.

“See you in our world, brother.” With that, he went back to the vampire world along with Pristine.

Alexander didn’t like the thought of taking Becca to the vampire world. He didn’t know why, but he was bound by the instructions and he had to follow them.

“I don’t like this idea at all,” Vanessa told Alexander.

“Neither do I,” Alexander mumbled. “Let’s go back to the dorm, Ness.”

  ###

Before the winter vacation ended, Alexander made Sebastian send another fake email to Shier Hertford, lying that the college has been reopened. Actually, it was to take Becca to the vampire world.

Becca was excited when Alexander told her that she was ordered to go to the vampire world. She wanted to see the vampire world and she agreed at that instant after hearing the proposition. Her belongings were packed and a driver was assigned to her to drive her to the university. Becca couldn’t tell the driver to stop and drop her off at one side, otherwise, the driver would complain to Shier.

Once Becca was dropped at the entrance of the college, she waited for Alexander to come and pick her up. When she didn’t see Alexander, she was about to call him until someone placed a hand over her mouth.

“Don’t speak, and walk with me,” the voice whispered in her ear and she obeyed quietly, not even turning her head to see who it was until she was taken in a closed room.

  Chapter 30: The Vampire World

Once the door was closed, the lights of the dark room illuminated, making Becca heave a sigh in relief after seeing the familiar face.

“Lucas, you could’ve just told me to follow you,” Becca told Lucas, who approached her after closing the door. “Also, what’s with that ‘Don’t speak’ threat? How could I speak when you had placed your hand over my mouth?”

“I am sorry for bringing you here in this way, Becca,” Lucas said and sat on one of the benches of the classroom he brought her into. “You should take a seat too.”

“What are you doing here?” she asked, taking a seat on the bench in front of him and turned her back to face him. “Didn’t you go home for winter break?”

Lucas licked his lips and said, “Becca, since you know about the vampires and the vampire potion now, I have a confession to make.”

“What?” She arched an eyebrow in confusion.

“I know this is sudden, but I want to tell you the truth as well. I don’t want to hide anything anymore,” said Lucas.

“Wait a minute,” Becca uttered. “Are you a vampire too? You cannot be because if you were, I would’ve felt the way I could feel the presence of other vampires. I feel another kind of feeling within me when I am with you, so you cannot be a vampire.”

“Becca,” he sucked in a deep breath and said, “I am the son of the Lycan King, Lucas Kade.”

Becca’s hand went to her mouth, covering it, after letting out a gasp. “Am I in the college exclusively built for mythological creatures?” she mumbled. “Lucas, I… I think I am dreaming because a lot has been going on in my life right now.”

“I know,” he told her. “I don’t want to hide anything anymore and there is no point in hiding as well since you are going to the vampire world to give the vampire potion.”

Becca took her hand in his and asked him, “Were you sent here to me for a purpose as well? Do I have a werewolf potion too?”

Lucas chuckled at her question, shaking his head in denial. “Indeed I am sent to you for a purpose, which is to stop you from giving the vampire potion to Phil Insworthe.”

“Look, Lucas,” Becca said calmly, “I know you have a feud with the vampires but that doesn’t mean I wi—”

“No, you are wrong,” Lucas said in between, “This is the modern era and we have already gotten over the feuds. We believe in forming peace which is why you have to make sure Phil doesn’t become the king of the vampires.”

Becca pulled her hand away from him when her phone started ringing all of a sudden. She checked the caller ID only to find Alexander’s name illuminating on the screen of the phone. She declined the call and texted Alexander saying to wait for ten minutes as she was busy.

“You were saying…” Becca trailed off.

Lucas spoke up once again, “Ph
il is not the type of person he appears to be. He wants to attack all the other creatures and keep them all in his reign.”

“You mean to say, he doesn’t want to be the vampire king only, but the king of the world?” she clarified and he nodded in response. “But Alex said that Phil is very good.”

  “Looks can be deceiving, Becca.”

“I don’t know what to do, Lucas.” Becca covered her face with her hands, letting out a groan of frustration. “I don’t even know where the potion is. They are saying it is within me, and if it is, I have no idea how to give it away. I know nothing. I am basically running in a dark place, having no clue where I am going.”

“Look, Becca, even if it all seems frustrating, I can give you an idea.”

“Which is?” she asked, removing her hands from her face and directly looking at his caramel orbs.

He smirked. “Make Alex the king of the vampires. Give him the vampire potion somehow.”

Becca’s eyes grew wide in horror as she continuously shook her head in disagreement. “I promised Alex to give him the potion.”

“But you never promised him that you would give it to Phil,” he pointed out. “Becca, just try to do this. Phil is not the deserving king.”

She closed her eyes and sighed. “No promises, but I will try. For that, I need to know where the potion is. It’s not in my blood because my blood contains poison for the vampires. A vampire tried to suck my blood for the lust of power, but he ended up vanishing into the thin air.”

Lucas raised his eyebrows in amusement. “Nessa was right when she said that since you have the potion, you are definitely bestowed with the power of protecting it. It is a sign that the potion is with you. You are carrying it.”

Becca smiled and as she was about to speak further, but she was cut off when her phone rang once again. It was Alexander who called her exactly after ten minutes.

“I should head back. Alex is waiting,” she said and stood up. “Wanna walk out together?”
