“We did it,” she corrected him with a wink.
“And just think, in a year’s time, you might be able to walk the stage in front of an audience.”
She shrugged. “Perhaps. Perhaps not. It will be so soon after the baby is born.”
He stopped short, pulling her to a stop alongside him. “Did you say…”
“The baby. Yes. Our baby.” She stroked Violet’s cheek. “You’re going to have a brother or sister, darling.”
He let out a roar of pure joy, causing others along the street to stare in surprise.
Cate didn’t care.
Nothing mattered half as much as his elation. As their love.
The entire family climbed into their respective buggies and carriages and set off for the ranch and the celebration that was to come.
They had earned it, all of them.
Along with the many celebrations to come.
