Frankie busted out in laughter. “Unreal. I would have loved to see his and Brenna's faces when they were charged.”
“It was quite satisfying,” George agreed.
“Wait till we tell Arlan and Kate what they missed,” Johanna said with a relieved smile.
“They'll never believe it,” Frankie said.
“I do have another concern, George,” Johanna said.
“What's that?”
“What about Bobby's grandparents?” she asked. “Do they know about Kyle?”
“Yes,” George replied. “The authorities in Seattle made sure to contact them this evening, well before the news hits the airwaves in the morning.”
“How horrible for them,” Johanna murmured. “I can't imagine how they're finding the strength to go on after everything they've been through.”
“I don't think anything Kyle did in the past would surprise them at this point,” George stated. “And they have Bobby to live for, so I think they’ll be fine.”
“Now tell us the details of Bobby's case.” Frankie looked eagerly at him. “I thought it would take longer to settle the custody dispute.”
“Carolyn Davies contacted the Seattle Department of Child Protective Services and after they heard the tapes and she informed them of what Bobby had told her, they contacted the judge who'd given custody to Kyle and Brenna Martin. In the meantime, the authorities in Seattle and I were keeping Carolyn Davies and the Seattle CPS informed of what was happening here concerning Kyle and Brenna Martin and in Seattle concerning Blake Roman. The judge immediately vacated the custody order.”
“Did he have any choice with Kyle and Brenna's subsequent arrests?” Frankie asked.
George smiled faintly. “No. Not after he was informed of what they'd done and how they'd used Bobby in their sick plan. And, of course, there had never been any reports of any abuse in all the years the Martins had custody of Bobby.”
“I'm happy for Bobby's sake,” Frankie said. “Now the kid can finally have some peace back in his life.”
“The Martins asked not to say anything about what's happened with Kyle and Brenna. They're going to explain it all to him when they get home.”
“Of course,” Frankie said. “Just let us know what time his grandparents will be arriving tomorrow.”
“I will. It will probably be late afternoon before they get in. They're going to give me a call with their flight details.” He checked the time. “Well, I've got to get back to the office.”
“I'll walk you out,” Trey said. “I'm going to run over to the house and talk to Will anyway.”

“I'm going to check the messages,” Frankie said. “Then I'm going to play some video games with Bobby. He's so wired I don't think he'll sleep a wink tonight.”
“I know.” Johanna smiled. “It does my heart good to see him so happy. I think I'll type Helen Cosco's report to get it out of the way.”
“Okay, I'll be out of your hair just as soon as I play back the messages.” She leaned back in her chair in their home office and pressed the button on the answering machine. She held a notepad on her lap. “I'll return the calls tomorrow while I'm at the office.”
“Okay,” Johanna said as she began typing her report.
Frankie sat up straight and listened when Helen Cosco's voice came over the line. Johanna stopped typing and swiveled her chair around in order to give the message her full attention. After it played through, Frankie sat staring at Johanna with a smirk on her face.
“I told you she was imagining an affair.”
“So, Harry Cosco's late hours were because he was working with the owner on a special project that ultimately culminated with Harry becoming a partner in the firm.” Johanna frowned.
“You don't buy it?” Frankie asked.
“I buy it, but does Helen? I mean, right now she does, but will she in a couple days from now?”
Frankie laughed. “I don't know. She only said she'd be in touch if she wants us to continue surveillance. So, we’re free tomorrow night.”
“It's going to be strange not having Bobby here. We've only had him with us a short time, but I got used to having him around. I'm going to miss him.”
“Me, too,” she admitted. “Do you think there's hope for Trey and Will?”
Johanna blew her breath out. “I hope so.”
“He still cares for him. But I think it'll take time for them to get back on track.”
“I suppose we should all give Will a second chance. What do you think?”
“Everyone deserves a second chance,” Frankie said. “But he'd better not screw up again. He has to remember that true friends stick together through thick and thin no matter what.”
Johanna nodded. “Well, we'll have the house back to ourselves in a day or two.”
Frankie looked at her with a twinkle in her eye. “And then I expect you to make good on your promise.”
Johanna looked quizzically at her. “What promise is that?”
“You said what you missed about having the house to ourselves was you couldn't run around naked.”
Johanna grinned.
Frankie walked over to her and wrapped her in her arms. “Saturday works for me,” she whispered.
