My mind raced at all these new possibilities, excitement spreading through me fast. I was amazed that he’d done that for me.
“Oh God, Daniel.”
“His clinic is one of the most renowned clinics there, and working there would only benefit your career. Not to mention that your salary would be much higher than the one you have now. If you accept, you will be able to start working there immediately.”
My heart was pounding so hard now. One year abroad with Daniel? I would love that! I’d miss Claire and Alison so much, but then again we could always Skype each other, and one year wasn’t such a long period of time. It would pass quickly.
I remembered when we promised to each other a month ago that we would always try new challenges, experiencing everything together. This was a huge step in our relationship.
“Daniel, you always manage to leave me speechless.”
“Is this too much?”
“No, not at all. This is good. It’s just that I want to say so many things, but I don’t know where to start... That sounds amazing. I would love to go with you.”
His tense body visibly relaxed, the worry lines around his mouth and eyes disappearing. His smile was enormous. “You would? Thank you so much, my angel.” He took my hand again and kissed it a few times, his face displaying utter happiness. “I really hoped that you would accept to come with me because there is something else that I want to talk about with you. Or better said—ask you.”
I watched him wide-eyed as he stood up from his chair and went around the table, fishing something out of his shorts pocket. He went down on one knee next to me, revealing a small black box in his hand.
“Daniel...You...” I couldn’t recognize my voice as I gaped at the box, at a complete loss for words. He was proposing to me! He was actually proposing to me!
“Marissa, you brighten my days and make me a better person. You showed me what a real happiness and love are and you helped me heal.”
He opened the lid, uncovering a dazzling diamond ring. The small crystals surrounded the heart-shaped one in the middle, and I fell in love with the stunning design. It was magnificent.
“I can’t imagine being without you, Marissa. You’re the love of my life. So will you marry me?”
I didn’t even have to think about it twice, wanting to scream from joy. “Yes!” I broke into a huge smile. “Yes, I want to marry you.”
“Thank you, Marissa. I love you so much.”
He took the ring out of the box and put it on my finger, and I noticed that his hands were trembling, which only made me even more emotional. The moment he slid the ring on my finger was the moment I stored in my mind forever, cherishing it.
“It looks perfect on you,” he whispered, looking at it in awe. My eyes blurred from the unshed tears, and I had an overwhelming urge to pull him into a crushing hug so he would know how happy he’d just made me feel.
“I love it. I love you.”
We leaned toward each other at the same time, our hungry lips meeting halfway. He pulled me down from my chair to my knees and slid his hands down my back to my ass. His tongue stroked mine languidly, building fire in me that spurred me to explore his body in a frenzy. I wanted him so much.
“Aren’t you hungry?” he asked me in between kisses.
“Right now, I’m hungry for you.”
He groaned and moved his hands to my breasts that weren’t covered by a bra. His thumbs found my nipples, rubbing against them the way I loved the most. I arched my back and pressed my pussy against his already rigid shaft, ready to get him inside of me right here and right now.
“Then I have to make sure your appetite is fully satisfied, future Mrs. Chisolm.”
I giggled, letting him pull me down to the ground. “I like how it sounds. Marissa Chisolm. And just so you know, you can never fully satisfy my appetite because I always want you more and more.”
“Just like me, sweetie. You know that I’m addicted to you? And I think I’ll never recover from it.”
He started kissing my neck, his hands pulling down my skirt and undies as his lips made love to my skin. His kisses felt tender and much softer than usual, conveying just how important this moment was for him. I clung to him, never wanting to let go.
“As your ex-therapist, I’ll tell you that I’m perfectly fine with you not curing this specific addiction.” I winked at him. “Have I ever told you that you’re my most favorite client, Daniel?”
He responded with laughter, taking my top off me. “And have I ever told you that you’re my best cure? I love you, Marissa.”
“I love you too.”
Our lips connected and our bodies became one under the starry sky, feeding our mutual addiction, which felt more than right. After all, some addictions should never be cured.
