“I love you so goddamn much, too,” Charlotte answers.

“I never thought I’d find my fated mate, but you were always out there. It was just a matter of life bringing me to you.”

“Sounds like you believe in fate a little bit, now, huh?” Charlotte teases.

“Yeah, sounds like it. Maybe everything does happen for a reason,” Mason says.

“Maybe it does.” They kiss again and Charlotte tries a bite of the salmon.

  “It’s delicious,” she remarks. “Mmmm.”

“You’re delicious,” Mason says, giving her another quick peck on the lips. They return to the dining table with plates of food.

“Mason, this is fantastic,” says Chris with a mouth full of food.

“Enjoy, everyone. Oh, wait. Before we dig in, I just want to say that you all mean so much to me. Thank you for treating me like family and giving me a home away from home. We’re finally safe, and I’m so thankful to be here with all of you. I know our home was destroyed, but I realized that home isn’t a place. Home is people.”

  “Lame!” boos Carter.

“Shut up!” commands Mikayla. “Let him talk! It’s beautiful.”

“That’s all I have to say. But, I guess I’ll do one more thing while I have all of your attention.”

He turns towards Charlotte and gets off of his chair, down onto one knee.

“Charlotte,” he begins, grabbing her hands in his. “You’re my world. You’re my entire life. I felt so lost until I found you. The universe really does work in mysterious ways. You’re my fated mate, my soul mate, and my partner for life. I know it seems fast, but we’ve always moved fast. And I’ve never been so certain of anything in my entire life. I love you and want to be with you. I want to wake up to you every day, and fall asleep tangled in you. I want to take you on boat rides around Alexander Bay, and teach you how to cook. One day we’ll have our own kids and we can tell them our story. The best love story of all time. Will you marry me?”

Tears immediately fill Charlotte’s eyes. “Of course I’ll marry you, Mason. I love you. I love you so, so much,” she says through happy tears. The room bursts into cheers in applause. The room is filled with the bears of Blue Ridge, their friends and loved ones, and finally, happiness.
