  Here it is. My first novel. Book one of my steampunk, alternative history, and alien invasion series.

  I asked a number of what if questions to get this series started.

  What if Mars and Venus was like Earth. What if those planets also developed sentient life that created their own civilization and technology. What if they were a century a head of humans on Earth?

  I once read a book called Hideyoshi by Mary Elizabeth Berry.

  In it Ms. Berry considers the question what would have Japan been like if Toyotomi Hideyoshi had died early rather than lived a long life. What if Hideyoshi died before he invaded Korea? Korea was the first and only time Hideyoshi lost a war. He would have been replaced by his original heir, his nephew, Toyotomi Hidetsugu. His nephew was an experience general.

  What if the Toyotomi clan ruled Japan for centuries instead of Tokugawa. Japan doesn’t kick out new western ideas and become isolated. Neo-Confucian philosophy does not take a strangle hold over Japan as it did in Tokugawa Japan. Toyotomi clan doesn’t make it illegal for a woman to sit on Japan’s Imperial throne, unlike what happened in Tokugawa Japan.

  Instead in our real history old Hideyoshi killed his nephew and replaced him with his son, a child. After Korea and Hideyoshi’s death the Tokugawa clan took over Japan and ruled for several centuries.
