  Sergeant Price drove them back to the house via a local Chinese restaurant. As he was rich now they were going to have a feast to remember. He bought some of everything and they had to wait for it to be cooked, before they could drive on. When they arrived, the rest could have what they wanted, if they could find them!

  The food was set out in the dining room. Simon followed his nose and was soon there, eating, which caused the usual laugh. One by one they were found and found a place to sit and eat.

  'So are you rich now?' Simon asked. 'Was all that stuff real?'

  'According to the estimates I am worth about ten million on paper.' Stevey answered. ‘That doesn’t include the paintings and jewels.’

  'What does on paper mean?' Simon asked.

  'If I sold the shares that my great aunt Agatha left me, it should fetch that, even in this poor economic climate.' Stevey explained but it was wasted on Simon, who looked for Toby to explain.

  'Next year some of it might be worth twice as much, or half as much.' Toby explained. 'The paintings however will always go up in value!'

  'So that was a yes then?' Simon asked.

  'Yes, well I’m rich enough to buy the house I want to buy but I’ll try to get the price down as it has been empty for some years.'

  'Why has it been empty?' Simon asked, stuffing more food in his mouth.

  'Probably because of the ghost.' Stevey replied glibly.

  Food sprayed out as several echoed 'Ghost!'

  'Yes it’s haunted.' Stevey explained.

  'Wicked!' John cried. 'When do we go there?'

  'I have to buy it first, John!' Stevey replied. 'Or should I say me and mum have to buy it first.'

  'Where is your mum?' Stuart asked.

  'On the phone, telling who she works for she’s just quit and giving the council their months notice that we’re giving up the flat.'

  'You should buy it!' Toby advised. 'Then rent it out for some income. You’ll get it cheap and you can sell if you want for lot more than you pay for it. We did that with my gran’s flat and made a pile, had to wait two years before we could sell it to anyone but the association but it was worth the wait.' He looked up to find Stevey gone. 'Where’d he go?'

  'To stop his mum from telling the council they want to give up the flat I think.' Sherman replied. 'You are obviously the team business man from now on!'

  They all laughed.
