  Ivan retreated and pulled her into his lap, resting his forehead against hers. “I’m sorry for giving you the chance to assume the worst, then. If anything, I just really want to say how much I like you and how much you make me happy.” He gave her a peck and kept his lips there, feeling the smile forming on his lips.

  “I’m really glad I met you. I’d do anything I could so you could forget him completely.”

  Elaine shook her head no in protest. “No, Ivan. We will work together so we could heal completely. This is no you helping me, nor me helping you. This is us helping each other,” she said, gazing into his eyes lovingly.

  He smiled a smile that reached his eyes, the one that Elaine absolutely adored, before replying. “I love the sound of that.”
