Recent publications include: “How Managers Become Leaders” (Harvard Business Review, June 2012); Your Next Move: The Leader’s Guide to Navigating Major Career Transitions (Harvard Business Press, 2009); and “Picking the Right Transition Strategy” (Harvard Business Review, January 2009).

  A native of Canada, Professor Watkins received his undergraduate degree in electrical engineering from the University of Waterloo, did graduate work in law and business at the University of Western Ontario, and completed his PhD in decision sciences at Harvard University.
