“Didn’t you want to be joined to a human?” I ask.

“No, I had my human but he was killed when they transferred me to you” The wolf whines.

“I’m sorry we were thrust into this mess” I reply.

“Nothing we can do now, it is the way of the wolf” The wolf huffs before trotting away from my mind’s eyes, I take that as the conversation is over for now.

I shiver as wind bites through me, pulling my shirt closer I curse myself for not finding somewhere with walls.

I fall into the dirt, my body unable to carry me anymore. I wait for something to happen, maybe the wolf will take pity on me and help me turn into the wolf.

I sigh as I curl up, the wolf is silent and nowhere to be seen.

I lay in the dirt, my mind pulls me towards the dreamland however I fight to stay awake.

My mind drifts as I struggle with a battle, I should not be here. I frown as flashbacks filters through my head.

I gasp as one flashback starts to spin around my head, the one where I get caught. The one where my mum's husband hurt me. I watch as if in someone else's body as people in lab coats inject me with some blue liquid. I watch in horror as my body starts to buck from the metal bed.

The people in the coats shout something and one of them injects me with red liquid. I gasp as my eyes open, red bleeds into them and I tilt my head as golden flecks appear.

“It’s done, the first hybrid is here!” One of the people yells with a grin on his face.

I see Gath stood on the outskirts watching with a sneer on his face.

I shiver as I’m pulled out of my mind by a howl, I whimper and hope that the wolves don’t find me.

I realise that I cannot be a werewolf, why did my eyes have red in them?

  Chapter Four

I lay in the same spot for days, my will to live slowly dwindles as I keep myself curled up to protect myself from the weather.

My stomach rumbles but I ignore it, I wonder how long it will take for me to get away from this existence.

“We need to go now!” The wolf growls in my head.

“I’m not going anywhere” I reply, content to just lay here.

“The hunters will kill us” The wolf snarls, I frown and use the wolf’s hearing to detect footsteps inches slowly towards us.

I groan as I stand, my body protests and I feel the wolf trying to push us to turn.

I shake my head and let the turn happen. I quickly take off my clothes and bundle them into a makeshift backpack before closing my eyes and letting the wolf do what it wants.

I cringe as my body turns into the wolf’s. I sigh once its done and shake myself to settle my backpack.

“There!” My ears turn behind me and I take off running.

My ears flatten into my head as I push myself faster, the mile eating lop of the wolf has me grinning from the rush.

I hear another shout and I duck just as a bullet embeds into a tree where my head had just been.

When will I get a break? I think to myself as I jump onto the road, a car shrieks as the driver slams on the breaks and I jump out of the way.

I yelp and grit my teeth as I fall down a banking and into a tree. I huff before looking back to see hunters catching up. Instinct bays me to continue running but Ignore it.

I turn and snarl, one hunter backs up but the rest grin and point their guns at me. My mind tells me I cannot outrun a bullet but my heart tells me I can try.

I howl a battle cry before leaping at the closest hunter, he cries out as I knock him to the floor.

I rip into his shoulder and shake my head, taking a chunk of his body with me.

He screams in pain and I growl, the thrill of the hunt clouding my mind. A bullet tears into my side and I snarl at the burning pain.

I finish off the hunt beneath me and turn towards the one who shot me, the hunters face pales as I step slowly towards him.

Another hunt grabs my tail and I turn to bite his hand, he jumps out of the way and I turn back to the one with a gun.

I quickly side-step to avoid a bullet to the head before leaping and knocking the gun from his hand.

The man growls and I quickly bite down on his throat, cutting his screams off.

I jump away and turn to see the other hunters running away, I howl in victory before racing away from the carnage I created.

“Well done, you’ll be a wolf in no time” The wolf huffs a laugh and I growl at him.

“I’m sick of them finding me, when will we safe” I sigh into my mind.

“They must be tracking us or something when I was with my other man I knew of an alpha called Percy. He helped a pack of werewolves find peace. Maybe we can try and find him?” The wolf replies.

“Sounds like the only thing we can do” I reply back.

I run until I can run no longer, the fire from the bullet works through me and I shiver as I change back into my human form.

I frown at the bullet wound, it’s deeper than I thought and there is no way I can get it out without any tools.

“I can't go to a hospital, they will be looking for me there” I mutter to myself as I start to panic. I remember how the only thing that can kill a werewolf is silver and I shiver at the silver colours liquid which drips from my wound.

“This is just great” I growl.

My mind starts to fuzz up and my eyes widen, I need to get this bullet out now or it will kill me.

I bend my head closer to the wound, my mind spins as I try to figure out how to get the bullet out. The sight of my blood makes me light-headed and I find myself panting as I open the wound slightly to see if the bullet is close to the opening.

I grin as I see the bullet, however, I frown at the thought of using my fingers to dig the thing out.

I close my eyes and count to ten before I carefully dig my fingers towards the wound, I cry out but remain focused on pulling it out. My fingers slip on it and the bullet digs deeper, I curse and grab the bullet. I slowly and carefully pull it out, I pant as dizziness takes over.

I grin when the bullet drops the floor, I curl up away from it and let my mind take over.

  ***********************************

“Wake up” I hear in my mind and I groan, I can feel the silver sludging it’s way to my heart.

“Great I got it out but I’m dying anyway” I mutter before opening my eyes, I frown as I see the sun rising.

“I was out all day?” I roll my eyes before standing up, I groan as the bullet wound pulls.

The fog in my mind refuses to disappear and I sigh as I stagger through the woods.

I gently place a hand on my wound, hoping it doesn’t bleed onto my clothes. I stifle a sigh as a road comes into view.

A house looms in the distance and I frown, I don’t remember that being there last time I got to this road.

I shake my head and turn left towards town. I grin as I remember the library in the middle of the little town.

Despite my wound I start to jog, pulling in strong gulps of air as I pick up my pace.

I duck my head and slow to a walk as I arrive at the bus stop I sheltered in. my nerves kick in and the wolf paces in my head.

“Hey, you!” My head jerks up as my nose catches the woodsy scent I now know as a werewolf.

I huff and duck down an alley with a roll of my eyes I curse myself when I see a dead end.

“Whoa, easy” I growl, spinning around to face the werewolf. He chuckles at my reaction which pisses off the wolf within me.

“Leave me alone” I snarl, a shiver racks my weak body and I grit my teeth to remain in control.

“I scent silver on you, did you get shot?” The werewolf moves closer and I whimper as I battle to remain in human form.

“I’m fine” I nearly yell, panic flood me as he takes another step towards me.

“You don’t look it, come with me and I’ll help you out” The werewolf tilts his head and watches me.

I close my eyes against the screaming in my head to run
, the wolf scolds me for closing my eyes but I push the instincts away.

“That would be nice” I grit my teeth as I open my eyes, the werewolf nods and turns before walking away.

I sigh in relief as I follow him out of the alley. My relief is short-lived when I see his eyes widen and he gently shoves me back into the alley.

“Run” He huffs at me and I gasp as the man’s eyes turn golden.

A hiss meets my ears and I frown, my instincts demand me to change and run until I drop however I know this werewolf could die if I do and he didn’t have to help me but he chose to and that should count for something.

I’m shaken out of my thoughts as someone crashes into me and sends me flying into a wall.

  Chapter Five

I snarl as the person rushes away from me so fast my eyes cannot follow him. The werewolf who offered my help growls and I cringe as he bursts into his wolf form, his black fur stands on edge and I tilt my head.

The wolf barks at me and somehow I understand what he is saying, however, I frown at his words.

Vampires don’t exist I remind myself. I chuckle slightly as I remind myself that I shouldn’t exist either.

With a shrug I let the wolf come forth, it snarls in my head before we turn into our wolf form. My fur ripples from my skin and I shake once done, the other wolf backs up to side at my side and I notice we are the same size.

A blur rushes around the corner and I yelp as it grabs my neck and throws me into a wall. A snarl rips from me and I bite in frustration.

A hiss echoes in my ears and the blur slows enough for me to see it, blood trickles from the bite wound and I huff. My tail wags and I growl at it, the other wolf huffs and I realise a huff is laughter in wolf form.

I take my chance on the vampire and leap on his back, I bite down and shake my head. The vampire hisses at me and I feel his fangs slice into my shoulder.

My foggy mind becomes like sludge as I dispatch the vampire. The other wolf whines at me and I trot to meet him.

He begins to run and I keep up as best I can, my wound throbs with every heartbeat.

I pant as the werewolf turns up a dirt driveway. He lets out a howl and I frown as my wobbly limbs gave out, the wolf sits next to me and I wait for death to claim me.

  *********************************************

  “He’s pretty bad” I stiffen as I hear a female's voice.

My eyes crack open and I groan as sunlight blinds me. The girl chuckles and I turn my head to where her voice is coming from.

“I’m Nat” She smiles at me and I grunt in reply.

“This is Jake, Ivan and Reece” She points out each person, I yelp when I meet red vampire eyes.

“He’s with me” She chuckles, seeing my reaction.

I look down at the bullet wound to find myself clothed and my wounds gone. I turn to ask Nat how it happened but she shakes her head at me before the werewolf from the alley, Jake, puts out his hand.

  “I don’t remember my name” I sigh.

“It doesn’t matter, we can find you a new one” Nat smiles.

I take his hand and grit my teeth as he helps me up. Nat takes the lead as Jake helps me into the house.

“What are you guys doing here?” I ask.

“Percy gave us a job to do” Nat replies and I feel giddy at the name.

“Wait, Percy?” I mutter mainly to myself.

“Yeah, he is the one who saved my pack and he asked us to do him a favour” She narrows her eyes at me.

“The thing in me said it knows him” I reply and her frown deepens.

“That thing is a wolf, don’t disrespect him or you will find yourself dead really quickly” Ivan growls and I shiver, the wolf pushing for me to change.

“Wait, you are different somehow” Nat tilts her head and lifts her nose into the air as if to catch a scent.

I feel a cool hand being placed on my shoulder and I stiffen as I meet Reece’s blood red eyes.

“He’s like me however he is a hybrid, he’s half vampire and half werewolf” Reece drops his hand and I stagger away from him.

“Whoa” Nat’s eyes widen and I shiver again.

Reece watches me with narrow eyes and I drop my eyes to look at the floor, the wolf inside me pacing to be free.

“Let’s focus on that later” She smiles at me and I nod slightly.

“Have you managed to get control of your shifting yet?” Jake asks and I frown.

“What’s shifting?” I ask as heat flushes my cheeks.

“It’s what we call turning into the wolf side” Nat replies.

  “Oh, no I haven't” I shrug.

“That’s the first thing on your list” Ivan chuckles and I frown as a shiver racks my body.

“We are going out for food, you coming?” Nat asks as she passes me towards the door.

I nod and follow her outside, my jaw drops when I see a car. She grins at me with a sparkle in her eyes before she jumps into the driver's seat.

I slide into the back while Reece goes up front and Jake and Ivan jump in next to me.

“Hold on to something, Nat drives like a crazy person” Jake whispers into my ear and I chuckle.

I feel myself pale as she guns the engine and swerves on to the dirt track. I grab onto the handle and grit my teeth to keep myself in check.

Nat laughs as she picks up speed and uses the handbrake to turn. I keep my eyes focused on the window and I pray to stay alive if hunters and vampires couldn’t take me out I’m sure Nat’s driving might be the thing that does.

I sigh in relief as she pulls into a car park, I jump out just as the car rolls to a stop. I pace for a minute and I notice Nat and her family waiting patiently for me.

I frown as I meet Nat’s eyes, she tilts her head with a smile and I nod at her silent question. It’s better to go inside than pace the road until I burn a hole in it.

I watch as Reece says something to a staff member, the man’s jaw slackens and Nat looks away but I don’t understand until it’s too late.

I watch in horror as Reece’s fangs glisten in the light, he bites down on the man's shoulder and his eyes glow while he feeds.

“Look away man, it will put you off for life” Ivan shakes my shoulder and I turn away from Reece and his feed.

“Oh no” I hear Nat mutter just before the scent of blood reaches my nose, I shiver as something awaken within me.

“Get them out of here” I hear Nat bark but I’m too focused on the blood to care. I feel fangs slide from my gums and Reece turns to me, he motions me towards him and I follow as if caught in a trap.

“Sorry, I guess I have awakened your vamp side” Reece sighs before telling me how to feed.

I try to back away however I feel my control slip and I bite down on the man’s other shoulder.

I bite back a groan as the liquid slides down my throat and settles in my stomach.

I pull back when my minds tell and Reece grins at me.

“It took me years to learn the instinct” He chuckles and pats me on the back, I feel my fangs disappear and I frown.

“What the hell” I mutter and Nat laughs.

“We broke your vamp free, don’t worry I’ll teach you how to be a werewolf and Reece can teach you about the vampy stuff” Nat giggles and I frown again.

“How’s it funny?” I ask and Nat sighs.

“We joke about most things, if we didn’t we would be pulled into the world of darkness and sadness,” Nat says, meeting my eyes and I see emotions swirling around.

  Chapter Six

I slide into a booth and wait for a staff member to come, Nat assure me that no one will remember what happened and that we will be able to eat here for a while longer.

“I will have a burger please” I mutter when a pretty blonde haired girl smiles at me and points to the menu.

“Coming right up” She smiles and I frown at her, I hear Jake chuckle and I smile as I lean back against the booth. My eyes feel heavy but I fight sleep if I fall asleep we
might be attacked and I will not be able to defend myself.

“It’s nice having a new pack member” I hear Nat sigh as she curled up to Reece.

“I know what you mean” Reece replies and I turn my head to him, I see the longing in his eyes and I realise that he must be the only vampire in the werewolf world who wants to stay with them and not kill them.

“Do you know of any other packs in this area?” I ask, thinking of the two werewolf children.

“No, we are the only ones,” Ivan says, eyeing me.

“I met two children, both had the woodsy scent on them and they knew what I was” I reply.

“Two kids on their own? Did their parents try to rip you apart?” Jake asks, his eyebrows knit together with worry.

“Two kids and no they didn’t have anyone with them” I sigh, rubbing my neck.

“Hopefully we will run into them, it’s not safe for kids to roam around” Nat lifts her head to meet my eyes.

“If I scent them again I’ll let you know so we can find them” I smile at her and she nods.

My burger arrives and I tuck in, the others watch me with amused expressions and I chuckle before turning back to my food.

The others food arrives and we all sit in silence as we eat, I finish first and look out of the window as I wait for the others to finish.

“I’m guessing you didn’t eat much before we found you,” Jake asks.

“No, I was all over the place with the wolf in my head and I didn’t have any money or anything” I reply.

“Good job I found you” Jake chuckles and I nod with a grateful smile.

A scent touches my nose and I tense, I lift my lips in a snarl as hunters enter the cafe.

“Easy, they don’t know about us” Jake mutters.

“They do, I have been running from them ever since I woke up in the woods” I whisper, afraid they will hear me.

They walk to the counter and hold out a picture to one of the staff, the pretty blonde one. She smiles and points in our direction, the leader turns and I jump up from the booth and run, I shove the door so hard that the glass shatters.
