Kyla sighed at the sight of him, letting her eyes drink him up, his wide muscular shoulder, and a hard six-pack, leading to tapered hips. Her gaze followed down. His jogging bottoms were low on hips she would love to wrap her legs around. Suddenly, her mouth was dry and she found it hard to swallow. Her mind raced with images of her hands gliding over his arms, palms on his hard chest traveling to what lay under his jogging bottoms.

She gasped audibly. What was happening? Where was she getting all these thoughts from? Hearing her gasp brought Logan onto the bed, and his hands onto her shoulders.

“You okay, my sweet?” Blue eyes full of concern looked into her soul. Oh, his scent was intoxicating to her senses; she closed her eyes and breathed him in deeply. A musky, spicy, warmth drifted off him. Kyla sighed again, leaning forward to get closer. Logan’s hands held her still.

“Kyla, listen to me. We need to talk.” His voice was insistent.

She opened her eyes, hearing him, but not listening. Her hands reached out on their own accord, and her fingertips brushed his chest, gliding over his nipples and travelling down. Her brain fought the instinct to touch, yet her body ached to touch him.

“Oh God, you’re killing me here!” Logan growled.

“Am I?” Kyla spoke through a drunken haze.

He grabbed her wrist before she was able to touch his erection that was so obvious. “Stop; you don’t know what’s going on,” he ground out, shaking her shoulders gently.

“Logan, kiss me, touch me, please,” Kyla begged as she rose onto her knees.

Her free hand moved from his chest to his neck, pulling him forward. Eyes focused on his lips, she parted her own as he came so close their breath intermingled. The air around her seemed hot and heavy. She felt his broad hand move around her waist as he brought her to him, chest to chest. She lifted her chin, just as his lips captured her in a kiss that sent all her senses wild. His lips gentle at first, teasing, but as she groaned into him she heard him growl. He increased the pressure, crushing him to her. His other hand fisted her hair so he could lock her to him. Kyla was lost, completely. She wove her arms around him as the kiss intensified, their bodies heated against each other.

Logan pressed her onto the bed, and Kyla enjoyed the sensation of having him on top of her; she parted her legs to accommodate him. His hard rod pressed against her core. She wriggled against it, trying to satisfy the need building within her. He tore his lips away from hers, only to bring them to kiss and suck her neck and shoulders. Kyla groaned as the heat intensified. She traced the smoothness of his body with her hands, to the waistband of his sweat pants then she slipped her hands inside and grabbed his ass, pressing it closer to her. He trailed kisses down her body. Cupping her right breast in his hand he suckled on her nipple through the lace of her bra. Moisture pooled between her legs, as she closed her eyes and threw her head back, offering more of her breast. Logan pushed his hips into her, his cock rubbing against her throbbing clit.

“Oh God, more please.” Kyla sobbed, as Logan moved her bra strap aside to suck her hardened nipple. His tongue lashed over the tip, while his hand slid down to the elastic of her panties. His fingers teased her soft curls then travelled lower, to where she so desperately needed him to be. Another gush of moisture released from her core as Logan stroked her nub again and again. Kyla arched her back, and raised her hips to him. The pressure increased inside her, an avalanche building that finally sent her over the edge when his fingers parted her lips and entered her.

Kyla screamed his name as her orgasm hit, yet he did not stop, only pushed further into her.

“That’s it, my sweet, come for me, come,” Logan rasped. All senses were lost to Kyla as she followed the avalanche, writhing against his masterful hand, his breathe hot against her neck and the scraping of his teeth telling her he was in control.

“Oh God, oh God!” Kyla sobbed, lying there, completely spent.

Logan pulled his fingers out from between her legs. Her scent was driving him crazy. Closing his eyes, he lifted his fingers to his mouth. Desperate to taste her, he sucked on her juices and growled. It took all of his control not to tear her panties off, and drive himself into her. He wanted to hear her scream his name over and over again, until her throat was hoarse. He held himself back, knowing she needed the orgasm but not him.

He gazed down at her. She was lying on the bed, eyes closed and drowsy, coming down from her climax. Logan covered her with the duvet and strode into the bathroom, shaft painfully erect. He needed a cold shower.

The cool water did nothing to ease the beautiful pain throbbing in his loins. Soaping himself thoroughly, he moved his hand lower down his torso, to his erection. He imagined it was Kyla’s soft hands massaging his erection. He increased the pressure as pictures of her writhing underneath him exploded across his mind. Damn it, he had almost bitten her when his fangs had extended, his wolf wanting to come out and play, but that would mean claiming her as his mate. Not something she was ready for; was he? He tightened his grip, his thighs tensing and finally his seed shot out.

Logan brought his other hand up to steady himself on the shower wall. He sighed and his breathing returning to normal.

A few minutes later he walked into the bedroom with a towel wrapped low across his hips. He saw Kyla sitting upright in his bed, looking nervous. Instead of going to her, holding her close to him, and letting her know he would never let her go, he grabbed his clothes and said, “Shower’s all yours,” and strode out of the room.

Walking out had been hard, but Logan wanted to give Kyla some space. While he prepared breakfast, he went over the night’s events. He felt as though he had been shot in the heart as soon as she walked into the bar. Her smell, luscious curves, her hesitancy, and her softness called to his wolf. Mine, he wanted to roar. Xander’s phone call filled him in on the reason she was attracted to him. The Merman’s siren was the reason Kyla and her friends became aroused; a state in which they would stay until they reached orgasm. Logan wanted Kyla to want him, need him! Not because of the siren spinning an intoxicating web around her senses, but because she understood he was her mate. True and forever. The same way his wolf recognized her. His wolf saw something deeper in her, something that even she seemed unaware of. When he noticed the birthmark on her right hip; a vague understanding dawned on him. He had to tread carefully with Kyla, very carefully.

  Chapter Three

Kyla hesitated at the door leading out of the bedroom. She had taken her time in the shower, trying to understand what happened. Yes, Logan had given her the best orgasm she’d ever experienced, well the only one in reality. Her one boyfriend bothered only with satisfying his needs, never considering hers. He’d been dared to bed her. A fact she grasped a few months later when he dumped her, calling her fat and frigid. She stayed away from men ever since. Last night and this morning she reacted to Logan in a way she never did with anyone else. He’d lit her up from the inside, and she couldn’t keep her hands to herself.

Kyla gulped and opened the door. Enticing smells wafted to meet her. Her stomach grumbled, and she realized she hadn’t eaten since lunch yesterday. She followed the smells, and found the open plan lounge with a sleek kitchen at one end.

“Wow!” Kyla exclaimed staring straight ahead at the wall of glass that looked onto the Royal Mile. The view was breathtaking. She moved closer to the glass, feeling like a child staring into a shop window. “This is amazing; I never knew such a view existed!” Kyla turned, smiling at Logan, who was bringing plates to the table by the window. A smile played on his lips, and her heart skipped. Oh boy, he was gorgeous!

“Bacon and eggs. I wasn’t sure how you liked your eggs.” Logan pointed to the table, which had scrambled, sunny side up, and sunny side down eggs.

“Scrambled is my favorite.” Kyla giggled, touched by his thoughtfulness.

“Well, shall we?” Logan asked, pulling out her chair and guiding her to sit.

  “This looks great; you shouldn’t
have bothered, but I’m glad you did. I’m starving!” Kyla smiled up into Logan’s sparkling blue eyes that were focused all on her. She was chattering on and on because she was just a bundle of nerves. But she wanted to appear casual, as though the great orgasm he gave her was nothing much.

Silence ensued as they ate. Kyla had a million and one questions racing through her mind, none of which she could form into coherent sentences. Logan was sitting back in the chair, watching her—it was now or never. Taking a sip of her tea Kyla looked up.

“What happened last night, Logan?” She met his eyes.

“What do you remember?” he asked.

“Well, I was having fun with my friends, then—well, I had this feeling—” She didn’t know how to say it.

  “Go on.” Logan leaned forward.

Kyla glanced out the window. “It was like someone was touching me—you know, making me feel...”

“Aroused,” Logan said, a statement more than a question.

“Err, yes, but how? I remember my head pounding and then it went fuzzy. I think Dizzy was there, in the bathroom but I don’t remember anything else, or how I got here.” Kyla glanced at Logan and saw his cool blue eyes on her. She bit her lip and quickly looked down at her cup.

“Who chose that bar last night?” Logan asked.

Kyla tried to think. “I don’t know. Jane Munro might have suggested it, but I can’t be certain. Does that matter?”

“No, for now.” Logan drank more of his coffee. “What do you know of the world around you, Kyla?”

Kyla focused on him, confused at the odd question. “Well, we exist, humans and animals, all trying to make a life, live a life.”

“No, I mean—” He hesitated raking a hand through his dark hair. “Humans and animals are not the only species in this world. There are other types of life; ones that live like everyone else, only they are different.”

“Right, are we talking about aliens and stuff?” Kyla was beginning to get worried. Okay so he was hot, but right now he was sounding a bit loopy!

“No, well yes, there are different types of life all around us. The bar you visited last night is known as a place where all types of people go. Not just humans, but...” He stopped.

Okay so now she was very concerned and she glanced around to see where the door was.

“Kyla, don’t be afraid, you’re safe. I won’t harm you,” he reassured her.

“I’m not worried; it’s just that I have to get going—stuff to do...” Her voice quivered as she spoke.

“I can smell your fear; your scent changed, your pupils dilated, and your heart rate increased.” Logan’s eyes stayed on her face.

Kyla stared at him open-mouthed. “How the hell...” She swallowed hard, uncertain of what to make of his words. Then she jumped off the chair and made a move toward the door.

With unbelievable speed, Logan appeared next to her, his grip on her upper arms tight as he brought her close into his chest. She tilted her head to look up at him and swallowed, not knowing what to do. He had her pinned against the door. She felt his hands gliding to her back and then his strong arms were surrounding her. Damn, he was warm, really warm. He brought his head down; she could feel his hot breath fanning her ear.

“I said you’re safe with me, my sweet. I won’t hurt you, I just think we should talk, then you can go.” His deep voice soothed her mind; she felt all the tension ease from her.

There was something about him that made her believe what he said; she knew he wouldn’t harm her, that she was indeed safe with him. Without thinking, she put her arms around his waist, and rested her head on his shoulder, reveling in the comfort his body provided.

Logan guided her to the brown leather sofa, and sat her down with her head still on his shoulder and her body cradled into him. His hand stroked her back in slow circles that ignited something deep within her. Kyla could not understand why she had this reaction to him. Being close to him brought her peace, and he could soothe away her fears. How? She had only met him last night!

“Hmmm, you’re so warm,” Kyla cooed.

“Have you noticed that you’re the same?” Logan replied.

“I am? What were you saying before?” Kyla asked.

Logan took a deep breath. “I’m hotter than most. I have speed too.” He seemed to stop, and then continued, “I’m what is called a shifter. I change.”

At this, Kyla jerked her head up, looking straight at him. “What, as in the werewolf thing?”

“Yes, but I prefer the term shifter. I change into a wolf; I can control it. The bar you went to last night is a place where supes meet.”

“Supes?” Kyla sat further up, disengaging herself from him.

“Supernaturals; people who have different abilities. Some like me, others who are vamps, mermen, all kinds.” Logan explained. “We coexist peacefully most of the time, but there are times when something happens—”

“Hold on, you mean vampires are real? As in, suck blood and everything? What the hell is a merman anyway?” Confusion reigned supreme in her mind.

“He is a rare creature who lives in the sea with mermaids, but can come to walk on the earth as well. His siren call is what caused you to feel aroused,” Logan explained.

“You’ve got to be kidding me. You mean he did something, siren call you called it, and that made me feel horny?” Kyla couldn’t believe what she was hearing.

“You and all your friends, as you were the only humans in the bar last night,” was his reply.

“Oh, my friends, where are they? Are they okay?” Scrambling to get to her feet, Kyla scanned around for her bag. “I need my phone to call them, and see if they are okay.”

“Wait, they’re okay. I spoke to Xander, my boss. Dizzy is with him, and he said all the others were taken care of.” Logan reached to grab Kyla’s shoulders, and turned her around to face him.

Staring up at him with hard eyes, Kyla asked, “Taken care of? What do you mean by that?”

“I mean they’re all safe. They were taken away by other supes before any harm could come to them. They’re all okay.” His eyes never left her face.

Taking a deep, calming breath, Kyla stepped back as Logan released her. She went to stand by the window. Edinburgh’s Royal Mile was busy today. People, shops, performers, and traffic were all surrounded by historical buildings that stood majestic around them. The city was where she had chosen to make her home these last few years.

“So, you say this merman’s siren call made us all feel horny and...” Kyla trailed off, uncertain how to make sense of the rest of her night. More importantly, of her time with Logan.

“And an orgasm would break the spell,” Logan replied.

Kyla’s cheeks colored instantly; she was thankful that she was looking away.

“That explains it all. I mean why I, err...why you—” She just wanted to go and hide, full of shame that some spell was responsible for her feelings, and why he had given her a helping hand. She rather hoped he had felt something for her. Something that was genuine.

“I’m going to call Dizzy, just want to check in with things. Is my bag in the bedroom?” Kyla asked, moving to the door.

“It’s on the floor in the hall.” Logan was staring at her with an expression she couldn’t quite understand, more like being let down or being sorry, which didn’t make sense. “Wait, how about I call Xander, she’ll be with him?” Logan offered. Kyla nodded in agreement. He pulled out his phone and dialed Xander. “Xander, is Dizzy still with you?” A pause followed. “Yep, Kyla needed to talk to her. Okay, she’s here now.” He held out the phone to Kyla.

She stepped forward, and took the phone from Logan, who started clearing the breakfast dishes. “Dizzy, hi, I’m glad to hear your voice.”

“Kyla, you okay? Where are you?” Dizzy’s voice filled Kyla with relief.

“In the middle of Edinburgh, with Logan. I’m fine, he told me stuff, all sounds a bit extreme. I was just worried, you know, needed to talk to you.” Kyl
a moved away to the window, putting some distance between her and Logan.

“Has he hurt you, chick?” Dizzy sounded concerned, and a little peeved.

Kyla hesitated. “No, he erm... No, it’s all fine.”

“You don’t sound fine. Where is he? Give the phone to him right now!” Her voice almost boomed through the phone. “Now, Kyla!”

Kyla walked to the kitchen area where Logan was. “It’s Dizzy. She wants to speak to you.”

Logan took the phone and eyed her quizzically.

“Hi,” was all he managed. Kyla could hear Dizzy’s angry voice on the other end. “Wait, I... No she’s okay...but... Hold on lady! Yep, I will. Sure.”

Logan looked as though he was being told off by the head teacher, with his head bowed and voice low. The image made Kyla smile. She loved Dizzy to bits, the way she tried to protect her, and they had become firm friends. Logan finished the call, then turned to the kitchen, muttering under his breath. Kyla felt uncertain what to do; speaking to Dizzy had reassured her, but pissed Logan off. There seemed no reason to stay now.

“I think I’m going to head off now,” Kyla said, as she walked to the brightly lit hallway.

Her bag was on the wooden floor, so she bent down to pick it up. As she righted herself, she sensed Logan right behind her. Heat radiated off his body, his musky odor inviting her to bury herself into his warmth. She sensed something else too, what, she was not sure of. Kyla dared not turn around and meet his eyes. She wanted to leave as quickly as she could, so she took a step to the door in front of her and reached for the handle.

Suddenly a deep growl came from behind her, two firm hands spun her around, two blue eyes blazed at her. Gazing lower she saw two fangs extended. Then he pushed her up against the wall, placing one hand on the wall above her and the other moving to hold the back of her head.

“You’re not going anywhere!” His face descended to hers, his tongue licked her lower lips, hot and moist, fangs nipped a little, then the full force of them hit hers, and she was lost in his kiss.
