Vengeance in Blood (Book 2): Tribulations

by Thomas A. Watson

Feeling his body going numb, Kenneth shifted his gaze as he aimed at another blur getting close, and he squeezed the trigger. The blur crashed and cartwheeled through the trees. When it stopped, Kenneth smiled, seeing the female vampire holding her stomach. She turned to Kenneth with a grimace, and her eyes closed.

“Bitch,” Kenneth smiled as his arm dropped, not able to hold up the pistol anymore. “Don’t mess with my baby,” he whispered as his eyes rolled back. With his body giving out, Kenneth collapsed.

Tiffany dropped the one she was feeding on when the werewolf charged Kenneth. After he shot it and the werewolf didn’t get up, Tiffany stood with fire in her eyes. Seeing the blurs coming, Tiffany lifted her right arm, holding her palm open.

One of the blurs exploded as it hit an invisible wall, making the two behind it skid to a stop in the leaves covering the forest floor. Raising her left arm, Tiffany held her palms to the two stopped vampires and smiled.

They attempted to dart away but found they couldn’t move. Suddenly, they both felt sharp pain in their legs and heard a repeating snap. Both looked down to see their feet rolling up their legs as Tiffany pulverized the bones. Before they could scream, both of their chests exploded.

Tiffany smiled at the two when both of their heads fell off. Dropping her arms, Besseta appeared in front of her. “I had them,” Tiffany told her.

Panting hard, Besseta said, “We need to move.” She turned her head. Looking at Kenneth slumped on the ground, her heart stopped. “Kenneth!”

Thunder sounded in the forest, and the concussion knocked Tiffany down as Besseta flashed over to him. Diving on Kenneth, Besseta straightened his body out then cradled his head in her lap. “Baby,” she whispered with tears raining down on his face.

A gust of wind came up behind her, and Tiffany looked down at Kenneth’s pale face, looking up from Besseta’s lap. Dropping down beside Besseta, she said, “I can still hear his heart beating.” She grabbed Kenneth’s wrist and felt a faint pulse.

With tears pouring, Besseta looked over at Tiffany. “I don’t hear any thoughts in his mind,” she whimpered.
