If You Could Only Imagine (Buchanan Brothers Series Book 2)

Ever.
And, yeah, it may be too soon, and I probably shouldn’t be reading so much into one kiss that lasted only a matter of minutes, but it was real. I know it was.
I took a deep breath. “Do you remember when you first told us about Shane?” Mason just arched a brow, as I continued. “You tried so hard to put it into words, but you couldn’t. Do you remember that?” He just nodded. “Your words failed, and because we’d never seen you care about anyone else but us, we couldn’t grasp what you were trying to say. But we believed you. We believed you, Mase, because we trusted you and we know you. Do you really think I’d be in here telling you I’m in love if I wasn’t?”
His lips pulled in, and after a few seconds, he said, “Okay, so tell me what happened.”
I recited what had happened between me and Denise, ignoring Mason’s occasional wince. When I finished, I said, “You’ve got to give her to me, Mason.”
He let out a barking laugh. “Give her to you? Jesus Christ, Aiden, I don’t own the woman.”
Now, I winced. “That’s not what I meant, Mase. I just mean I need your permission to go after her.” I shrugged a shoulder. “I know there’s potential for…uh, issues, what with her being our employee and all.”
Mason gave me a quick nod. “If she’s the one, Aid, then don’t let anything stand in your way. But just be careful, okay?”
I couldn’t stop the smile that spread across my face. “I will be,” I promised.
He pointed a finger at me. “I mean it, Aiden. No extortion, no bribery, no kidnapping, no nothing. From the sound of it, she came to her senses and…uh, might be a little opposed to a relationship with you.”
I waved away his concerns. “Oh, it’s going to be the battle of the century, I’m sure, but that’s not going to stop me.”
He shook his head. “I’ll be sure to tell Shane. There should be at least one other Buchanan in the building who knows what’s going on in case Ms. Hart kills you on company property.”
I smiled. “She’s not going to kill me, Mase. Well, I don’t think she will. I mean, I don’t know much about her apart from that kiss,” I grudgingly admitted.
“I’ll back you, no matter what, Aid,” Mason said. “I just have to admit, I never thought there’d come a day where one woman would be enough for you.”
I was shocked myself, truth be told. My appreciation for women was well known amongst my brothers and to the chagrin of my sister-in-law.
When we were younger, I struggled a lot with my weakness. Our father was…well, is a misogynist, and he spent our youth warning us against the perils of women and their satanic lures.
He went to extremes to make sure we didn’t have time for girls and there weren’t any liaisons that resulted in an unplanned pregnancy. Mason and I would travel a few towns over whenever we needed to take the edge off, and we made sure to always pick up women who knew the score.
And we were fanatic about protection. The only condom that ever went on my dick was the one I bought, inspected and put on personally.
I didn’t think women were evil, but I wasn’t going to be the one to have to explain to my dad that I knocked someone up.
High school had been a special kind of torture, but Gabe helped me out a lot by warning me away from the girls that were trouble. His ability to read people came in super handy in keeping me out of trouble during those first few years when I learned what to do with a hard cock.
I’ll never forget the feeling that rendered me stupid the first time I ever slipped my dick inside a tight, warm pussy. The sensation was unlike anything I ever imagined. It was a high I wanted to chase to the ends of the earth. It suddenly became crystal clear why men fought wars over women. And why our father was extreme in his vigilance of our relationship with the female species.
However, once Mason and Shane got together, and we cut our father’s puppet strings, I dated more freely and openly.
Okay…maybe dated is too strong a word, but I was still careful and still made sure my cock was protected and the women knew the score.
The others didn’t struggle with sex the way I did. Mason has always had ironclad control and so his dick didn’t rule him. Well, up until Shane, that is. Gabriel had a girlfriend he’s been with since they were 16 years old, so he didn’t have to go looking for it. And Michael is a virgin. Or at least, I think he still is.
It wasn’t that he didn’t like women or didn’t feel sexual urges, but a couple of years back when Shane and Mason got together and the ‘sex ban’ was lifted, Michael had confirmed his status and said he’ll take the plunge the day he finds a girl who can handle his intense emotions.
And I didn’t fault him, because Michael was fucking intense.
I stared at Mason. “I have to admit, I never thought there’d be a day when one was.” I shrugged my shoulder. “But because I have had my fair share of women, I can tell you, with unwavering certainty, that Denise is it.” I shook my head at my thoughts. “Hell, Mase, I’ve had threesomes and even a couple of foursomes with some of the hottest women walking the planet. I’ve had women with no gag reflex and who have begged to have me in their ass on the first fucking night.” His brows shot up at my accounts, but he didn’t comment. “The most beautiful faces to the hottest hour glass figures, and not one of those experiences or women have ever made me feel an ounce of what I felt with Denise when we shook hands.” I ran my hands down my face. “A fucking handshake, Mason.”
Mason nodded. “Like if you lost everything, but still had her, you’d still feel like you have too much?”
I signed. “How can one woman make a man feel so powerful by just owning her?”
Mason let out a laugh. “Because God knew what he was doing when he pulled that rib from Adam.” I had to agree. This time Mason sighed. “God made sure man would never feel complete without the right woman by his side. A woman’s love, little brother, is our rib being snapped back into place.”
I quirked my upper lip. “So, you’ll have an attorney on standby in case she takes a little bit of persuading?”
“I’ll make the call as soon as you get out of my office,” he promised.
I smiled at my brother as I stood up. I was never really in doubt about Mason’s support. We supported each other no matter what.
Now, all I had to do was convince a certain curvy beauty that I wasn’t a gamble. This was the real deal, and I didn’t care how long it took for me to convince her of that.
I mean, I wasn’t completely insane. I knew shit like this didn’t happen. Instant love happened only in romance novels and romantic comedies. Except for Mason and Shane, I’d never seen or heard of it happening in real life.
And I had no idea how Denise felt about instant chemistry, falling in love within minutes and being married by the end of the week. That was the biggest issue.
I headed back towards my office and wondered how much it would take to bribe Shane into helping me capture my prey.
Chapter 5
Denise~
I had managed to avoid Aiden Buchanan for the rest of the week.
Hallelujah!
He was so busy getting settled in; it was way easier than I had imagined it would be. That Monday, I had lost my mind in a haze of alcohol with Kelly and went over every possible outcome as a result of the kiss, and all we managed to come up with was a killer hangover on Tuesday.
I hadn’t made any progress on what to do about my attraction to him-or rather, his attraction to me. I was fairly certain that if he kept his distance, I’d be able to work with the out of sight, out of mind method. But I didn’t know what I’d do if he kissed me again.
And against all responsible choices, I wanted that man to kiss me again.
I wanted him to do all kinds of unethical things to me.
And Kelly-The-Traitor really hadn’t been much help. She was all for me risking my career and ruining my reputation at a chance to fall in bed with Aiden. We had pulled up all four brothers on my phone and when she had gotten
a good look at the whole lot of them, she had damn near pushed me out the door, instructing me to run after him and turn him into my sex slave.
I’m not saying her idea didn’t have any merit, but…Christ, this was so goddamn reckless.
Forget that I haven’t had sex in over a year. Forget that I worked my butt off to get where I am today. Forget that Aiden’s rich, ruthless and my boss. Everyone knew that you just didn’t sleep with your boss. It never turned out well.
Mason and Shane Buchanan were different because she came to BI with Mason. No one could accuse her of sleeping her way to the top. Rumor is Mason married her after only dating a few weeks. Rumor is also that, while he was a vicious bastard in the world of business, he positively adored his wife. The fairytale story goes that he was willing to give up Buchanan Industries for her.
God, could you imagine what that kind of love is like? Who falls in love and willingly gives up everything for someone after only a few weeks?
And that thought brought me back to Aiden and that kiss.
And it also made me think who the hell risks everything they’ve worked for after one kiss?
It was almost quitting time, but I needed some air. The memory of that kiss and Aiden’s hands in my hair had me feeling heated from the inside out.
I headed towards the elevator, and since Sarah was already gone for the day, I contemplated just walking back to my office and closing up shop. It was Friday, after all, and at 6pm, the entire building was probably empty.
Deciding to just call it a night, I turned around and headed back towards my office. I was halfway there when I heard the elevator ding. I whirled around and watched in stupefied fashion as Aiden Buchanan walked through the opening doors.
His head swung around as he took in the empty floor. When his face returned to mine, his eyes narrowed, and chills broke out throughout my body. The hairs on the back of my neck stood up, and I knew. I. Just. Fucking. Knew.
I spun around and ran to my office as fast as I could. As soon as I made it past the threshold, I turned to shut and lock the door, but Aiden was already taking up the entire doorframe, slamming his hand against the door, forcing it open.
I backed up until my ass hit my desk. I put my hands up, trying to ward him off. This was insane. How can I feel what he’s feeling? He shut the door behind him, and I almost had a heart attack when I heard the lock engage. “Wh…what are y…you doing here, Aiden?”
His steps were certain and predatory. When he stopped, he was close enough that I could smell his cologne and feel his body heat. “I’m here to find out why you’ve been avoiding me all week.”
I blinked. There’s no way he could possibly know that I’ve been actively avoiding him. “I don’t understand. Wh…what do you mean?”
His brows drew down. “You know damn well what I mean, Denise.”
Oh, to hell with it. I just ran into my office to hide from this man. It seemed kind of silly to pretend we hadn’t crossed the lines of dignity and common sense. “Aiden, that kiss…”
One hand reached up and circled one of my dark ringlets around its finger, while he planted his other hand on my hip just as bold as you please. “Yeah, that kiss,” he smirked, “was the best fucking kiss of my life. And, believe me, I’ve kissed a lot of women.”
I crossed my arms over my chest and scowled at the jerk. “Are you seriously standing here telling me about all the women you’ve kissed before me?” The nerve of this guy!
“No,” he smirked, again. “I’m telling you that that was the best kiss of my life and explaining how I know what I’m talking about.”
I rolled my eyes. “Whatever,” I dismissed, carelessly. “You need to leave, and you need to leave me alone unless you need to discuss something business related with me.”
Aiden threw his head back in a laugh. When he looked back down at me, his green eyes sparkled, and he looked like a certified rake. “That’s not happening, baby.”
My eyes widened. “Are you so used to getting what you want that you don’t care how…this looks for me? I do not need people thinking I’m screwing the boss for advancement or privileges!”
His hands moved to plant on either side of me flat against the desk. He was looming over me, trying to use his height and size to intimidate me.
But all it was doing was making me wet and tingly.
“I don’t give a fuck what people think, Denise,” he growled. “You were in this position way before I even started in my official capacity. Why would they think being with me was your way to move up?”
“It’s not just that, Aiden,” I sigh, doing my best to stay strong, but…Jesus Christ, there was only so much a woman could take. “Even if you weren’t my boss, I’m four years older than you. We have nothing in common and…” I couldn’t continue. Aiden’s head dipped until his nose was skimming the line of my jaw and I had to curl my hands into the fabric of my skirt.
“Just like I don’t give a fuck about what people think, I don’t give a fuck about the age difference or whatever else bullshit you’re going to throw at me,” he whispers against my skin.
“Aiden…” I tried to protest, but his name just came out sounding like the moan it was. His lips made contact with the skin of my neck and my knees buckled.
They. Actually. Buckled.
The hand on my hip moved as Aiden wrapped his arms around me to hold me up. I couldn’t imagine how smug he must feel in this moment. My lips were denying all kinds of things, but my body was obviously in major disagreement with my mind.
His lips kept peppering my skin with kisses, and all my common sense fled when the hand attached to the arm that wasn’t holding me up came up and ran down my neck to my chest and further down until he was holding and kneading one of my breasts.
This was too much, and it was all happening too damn fast.
All my arguments were still valid, but I couldn’t seem to continue to voice them as Aiden’s kisses turned into bites. The second I felt him pull my skin through his teeth, my mind started screaming Stop! Stop! My mind understood that he was blatantly marking me, but my body was screaming Yes! Yes!
My body was a slut.
This was so, so wrong.
Sooooooo wrong.
I gave up one last feeble attempted to end this madness. “Aiden…we…we can’t…”
His lip left my neck and my skin throbbed letting me know the mark was going to require a scarf because makeup wouldn’t cut it. And the thought turned me on more.
Aiden’s hand left my breast and skimmed down towards my thigh. “Oh, we can and we’re going to,” he announced. “I’m going to sit you on this desk and fuck you so good, baby.” I whimpered. “And when we’re done, I’m going to take you home with me where I’m going to spend all weekend with my cock on, around and inside anything you’ll let me.”
My eyes closed and my body melted at the visions his words conjured up. Was I really that sexually deprived that I’d risk losing everything for one weekend with Aiden Buchanan?
When he went back to marking my neck and his finger trailed up the inside of my thigh to reach my soaked panties, I had my answer.
Yes.
Yes, I was. The second his finger snuck into the fabric of my panties, and he made contact with my bare slit, I was done for.
All my hard work, my reputation, everything I’ve achieved…I was willing to watch it all burn up in flames for Aiden Buchanan. I was going to be known as the office slut and I couldn’t care enough about that to stop his finger from sinking slowly into my body.
Decision made, I was going to let Aiden Buchanan do whatever he wanted to me.
Chapter 6
Aiden~
As soon as my finger was wrapped in her wet, tight warmth, I knew there was no going back for me.
I had already come to terms with giving up on trying to understand why I felt what I felt with this woman, and with Mason’s blessing, I knew I was going to pursue her. But I knew, without a doubt, that once I got my dick inside h
er, her choice in this would be no more.
I was going to make her mine; laws and sexual harassment be damned.
Her pussy was so warm and tight, I actually struggled to get inside her when I added a second finger to the first. I almost came in my pants from the anticipation of how tight her cunt was going to feel around my cock.
I pulled back to look into her face. I wanted to watch her beautiful expression as I finger fucked her to orgasm.
And I wasn’t wrong.
Denise looked absolutely breathtaking.
Her head was thrown back, eyes closed with her sweet, plump lips parted open. She was panting and her nails dug into the fabric of my suit jacket as she held onto the forearm of the hand I had between her legs. She looked like she was in pure ecstasy. “Oh, god, Aiden,” she moaned.
It was the sweetest sound I had ever heard.
We were both still clothed, and she looked positively wanton as she leaned back on her desk with her legs parted and my hand up her skirt. I cursed not having cameras in the offices, because I wish I could have a picture of this moment.
I’ve brought a lot of pleasure to a lot of women in my day, but nothing compared to this. I wanted to please this woman more than I wanted to take my next breath. I wanted to take her to the brink of madness so she’d forget every other man before me.
And I wanted to fuck her so hard, so thorough and so violently that she’ll never want another man after me.
I kept finger fucking her until I felt the telltale signs of her body on the edge. “That’s it, baby,” I encouraged. “Cum all over my fingers. Give it to me, Denise.”
My dirty words took her over, and she cried out my name as her pussy tightened around my fingers and her juices ran down my hand.
The room started to smell like her cream, and I took a big whiff. I wanted her smell in my nose and her taste on my tongue.
Fuck this. I would have all weekend to do this right and worship her to completion. But, right now, I just wanted inside her. I needed to get inside her before she came to her senses and changed her mind about us.
