“I can’t believe we’re thinking of doing this,” I say, resigned.

“As long as she doesn’t find out, I think we could all become good friends. You could even hook her up with Seth’s brother at the end of this,” she says smiling slightly.

Seth’s brother, Matt, is one of my main buyers, he’s big into the BMX scene. He’s a good guy, but a huge player. “Why didn’t Emma just ask him in the first place to date Kristi? She’s Seth’s girlfriend. It would have been easier.”

“Probably because of him being Seth’s brother. It would be bad for family stuff, probably,” Alana says shrugging.

I narrow my eyes at her. “Why aren’t you trying to talk me out of this? Seriously, you want me to date someone else? Hand-holding, cuddling, kissing, basically it’s like you want me to cheat on you.”

“I don’t want you to do this, at the same time, I do. I can’t explain this feeling I have. And it won’t actually be cheating, because I’ll know about it. Only rule—no sleepovers, no sex of any kind.”

“That will be easy enough,” I say to her, trying to sound confident. But will it? I already have a fucking hard-on whenever I see Kristi, and now I’ll be ‘dating’ her. Fuck me, I’m screwed.

  Chapter 10

  Kristi

I’m sitting in class, trying to listen to my professor, when Little Miss Annoying tries to get my attention.

“Psst,” Alana whispers in the middle of the professor’s speech.

Trying to ignore her, I shake my head at her so she shuts up.

  “Psst,” she persists.

“What?” I mouth at her; can’t she see I’m trying to listen?

She passes me a note. I want to groan, seriously, what are we? Ten?

I unfold the note and read.

I have a guy I want you to meet. Please say yes, just one date. Please, please, please.

  Is she serious right now?

If I say yes, will you leave me alone?

I fold it back up and hand it back to her.

Less than a minute later, she’s passing it back over to me and is all smiles. What did she have for breakfast? A bowl of sugar?

Of course, you say yes, I’ll leave you alone. And if you don’t like the guy, I’ll never set you up again. But if you say no, then I will bug you all day, every day until you give in.

Rubbing my temples, so I don’t scream at her, I calmly grab my pen and write back. You know I hate you, right? This guy better shit out rainbows, otherwise I will kill you.

I don’t give it back to her right away. I want to make her suffer. I can tell she’s getting antsy for the note because she keeps shifting in her seat, which makes me grin. As the class finishes up, I finally hand it back to her and rush off quickly.

Sure enough, she catches up with me and gives me an awkward hug. “Trust me, this guy is the best of the best. I think you will love him.” She lets go of me and smiles. “I will text you later with details. Maybe the first date can be a double date? Or a triple date then we can invite Emma and Seth too.”

“Okay, stop, just stop right there. I’m cool with a group date, that’s fine, but please shut up. Just text me details, and whatever. I’m not wearing anything fancy, so think about that as you make these plans. I’ll chat later.”

I don’t know how I got roped into being her friend, I swear to God the chick drives me nuts. She’s growing on me, though. I don’t know why I even said yes to this date. I don’t want to date. The thought of dating someone right now makes me feel as if I’m breaking out in hives. What if this guy knows about my slut history? What if he has a tiny dick? I can’t do this.

I go to turn back around to find Alana and notice she hasn’t moved from the spot I left her in.

She crosses her arms and glares at me. “Stop getting freaked out. You are not changing your mind. You are going. And that’s final!” She stomps her right foot and quickly rushes off.

  Well then.

  Bryce

I finish going over the construction bids that Emma arranged for me, and I decide on the somewhat pricier one. Only because I’ve researched the company and they seem better than the rest.

“Babe!” Alana shouts as she skips into the shop. “Good news, I have it all set up with Kristi. I had to pressure her of course, but she finally agreed. We’re going to do a big, group-date-type thing. A neutral setting, just a getting to know you sort of date.”

  We’re really doing this. Shit.

“Group date sounds good. But what about you?”

She waves her hand. “Don’t worry about me, Seth’s brother, Matt, will be my ‘date.’”

“You’re going on a date with another guy?”

“Of course, I am. I can’t go on this group date with you,” she says, rolling her eyes.

“Fine, whatever,” I grumble, pretending to sound jealous. If she only knew what I really thought of Kristi, she would probably call off this whole thing. I feel like shit for not being jealous that my girl is going to be ‘dating’ another man.

“Where should we go? She said she didn’t want anything fancy.”

“What about the Chili’s down the street, tomorrow night? It’s never overly busy, and sure as shit isn’t fancy,” I suggest.

“Oh, perfect.” Her fingers move over her phone and minutes later it pings. “She said ‘sounds good, tomorrow at eight.’ She’s bringing two of her friends, and they won’t have dates because they don’t want to pay for sitters so they are leaving their men at home.”

“She wants backup.” I smirk at Alana.

Sighing she puts her phone in her purse. “Probably. She probably thinks I’m going to set her up with some preppy guy.”

“Wait, doesn’t Kristi know you have a boyfriend, a boyfriend that looks like me?” I ask, wondering how she’s going to pull this off.

“She’s never seen a picture, and Matt looks a bit like you, just not as bulky. And he already knows the whole story, so we have nothing to worry about.” Why would he agree to this? I don’t like it.

“I don’t like this. I have to pretend to be on a date, while you are on a date right next to me. This isn’t going to work.”

“Please, don’t get worked up about this. Just focus on her tomorrow night. Please. We need this, and Kristi is amazing. I promise.”

I stare at her, wondering why the hell she’s so into wanting this to happen. “What is wrong with you? You really want us to date other people? You seem all fucking excited about this. If you don’t want to be together anymore, just tell me.”

Alana sighs, “It’s not like that, I promise.”

“When in the hell did you talk to Matt anyway?” Starting to feel myself getting jealous and pissed even more.

“I got his number from Seth, he called him, I was there, and we talked. That’s it.”

She’s hiding something, when she says that she doesn’t even bother to look at me.

This is fucked up. So fucked up.

  Chapter 11

  Kristi

I text Alana and let her know that I invited a few of my married friends along on this group date. Alix and Hayley. They are coming without their husbands, Jordan and Brock, so they don’t have to get a babysitter. If any guy I date can be around those two, and still have fun, then he’s worth keeping around. I don’t even bother warning Alana about them, it will be fun to see her face once they start. She’s probably trying to set me up with some preppy asshole.

“Open up, dick licker!” I hear Hayley’s voice shout outside my door.

I smile as I rush over to open it. She and Alix both storm in, looking hot as ever. “Um, I just realized this, we all sort of match.” I start laughing as I look at them.

We’re all wearing dark blue, ripped up jeans, black and pink DC shoes, except for Hayley, who only ever wears heels. And we all have the same style tee-shirt on, just different colors.

“Well, would you look at that,” Alix says glancing between the three of us. I lock up my apartment and we take
off. It only takes us five minutes to get to Chili’s. And that is when the moron twins start up.

“Let’s get going. We have to check out this boy that thinks he can date you, and we need to get drunk. Jordan doesn’t let me get drunk as much anymore because I keep getting naked,” Alix says, looping her arm through mine.

“He’s such a party pooper,” Hayley chimes in. “But he wouldn’t be if maybe you just gave him some anal, he’d probably let you do whatever you wanted.”

“Would you shut the hell up about anal? It’s never going to happen. Ever. It’s an out door for shit, only, that’s it. That’s all it’ll ever be for.”

“Maybe you’re the party pooper,” Hayley grumbles.

I try to tune them out as best as I can, because they won’t stop. Once they start, that’s it. Maybe I should have invited Emma to stay a little longer, then she could have come with me on this group date, so I wouldn’t have had to bring Thing 1 and Thing 2 along. But then again, Emma and Seth were starting to get on my nerves, so I was happy she had to go back home to finish up her exams.

“Guys, come on already. We’re here, let’s go in.” I try to rush in before them but they keep the pace with me, and of course as I open the door to the restaurant Hayley and Alix are still friggen talking about anal sex.

Fuck me, what a great ‘date’ this will be.

Walking ahead of the TMI Twins, I spot the group, and holy shit, that’s the guy Alana set me up with? Fuck my life. I’m gonna be on my back with my legs wrapped around him so damn fast. This is what I didn’t want, after that messed up group bang and pregnancy scare, I vowed to never put out again, until I was ready for a full-blown relationship. But looking at this guy, all those vows I made fly out the window. Taking him in, I start to wonder if his dick is pierced too.

I’m shoved from behind. “Move it, no backing out now,” Hayley says.

  Well, this is it. Shit.

Dear Vagina, please behave tonight. Please, please, please.

  Bryce

Matt, Alana, and a few random people from one of Alana’s classes are all sitting around this giant table waiting for Kristi and her friends to show up, when suddenly, I hear a yell. “Hayley, I said no! Why do you always have to talk about anal sex, I’m serious. Enough already. I’m never going to change my mind. Please, Kristi, tell her to shut up.”

Everyone at the table starts laughing at the girls coming in the door, and I can’t laugh, because my gaze lands on Kristi. God fucking damn it, she’s sexy as hell and my cock twitches in my jeans. I look to Alana, who looks excited, and I try to remain calm. I have to do this. I can do this, I keep chanting to myself. I feel guilty already, considering I didn’t even pay attention to Alana when she got ready tonight. In fact, for the last week, I haven’t even touched Alana, and she hasn’t seemed to mind. I’ve been jacking off every damn day in the shower, thinking of Kristi. Fucked up. Just fucked up.

When we first got here, Alana attached herself to Matt, and barely even gave me a second glance. It’s starting to feel as if she wants this for more than just me getting my shop up and going. It’s like she wants to set us up for other relationships so we can break up ourselves. As Kristi gets closer to the table, all thoughts of Alana and this situation vanish.

“You made it! I’m Alana,” Alana says shaking Kristi’s friends’ hands.

“I’m Alix, and this anal-loving whore is Hayley. We’re the owners of Haylix Salon.” Great, I know these girls. Well, know of them. Lilly works at one of their salons.

“Kristi, this here is Bryce. You might actually know him.” Alana grabs Kristi’s arm and drags her over to me.

Recognition settles over her face. “You’re the dude that ran into me.”

“I’m also the dude that helped you out,” I point out.

  She rolls her eyes.

“But I’m also the dude that you used to follow around growing up,” I enlighten her.

She flinches back and stares at me. “Holy shit!” she shouts. She ends up giving me a hug, and I stagger back slightly. “I haven’t seen you in years. How do you know Alana?”

I look to Alana for a little help. “I saw him walking by my apartment and I took one look at him and said, ‘That man is for Kristi.’”

Kristi laughs. “She’s a little nutty, but she grows on you, like a bad fungus.” I’m about to defend Alana, when I remember I shouldn’t, so I just chuckle. What she said is true. I felt the same about Alana when I first met her.

Everyone moves back to sitting and introductions are made and a round of drinks are ordered.

Kristi and I haven’t stopped talking in over an hour. Basically, just catching up on what’s been going on in our lives since we lost touch. I’m surprised how much fun I’m having with her. I completely ignore everyone at the table, even Alana, who seems to be chatting and laughing up a storm with Matt. I should feel jealous, shouldn’t I? So why am I not?

“So, what have you been up to all these years?”

“School mostly, once I finished high school, I took a few years to just travel around, ya know? And once I was satisfied with my decision on what kind of career I wanted to do for the rest of my life, I came back home and enrolled. I’m actually finishing up my last year. It was a four-year course, but I was able to take summer classes to get done faster,” she tells me with a smile.

“You’re in Alana’s class, right? That’s how you met?”

“Yup,” she says popping her ‘p’ as she sips her Sprite.

I frown in confusion. “Alana said that course is only a year though.”

She smirks. “I’m only taking that one for credit. Remember growing up, how I didn’t have a mother, and when I did she was a cunt? I want kids one day, so that’s why I’m taking that course.”

Makes sense. “You don’t need that course to be a good mother, just don’t beat them.”

She laughs. “I get that, but whatever, it’s what I wanted to do. Plus, you never know, if my dream doesn’t become a reality, I can always open up a daycare.”

After a while we all sit listening to Hayley and Alix laugh and argue with each other over everything, and then Hayley launches into the time she took Lilly baby shopping, and how embarrassed she made Lilly over a breast pump. Then went all dreamy when she talked about the reaction Vinny had, when she said Lilly should fuck someone else. Said it was ‘so hot, I orgasmed on the spot.’ Gross.

“We’re gonna call it a night, Jordan just texted me that he’s getting in the shower and wants some penis love when he gets out,” Alix states.

  Kristi starts laughing.

“Poor Jordan.” Hayley sighs as she stands up. “He gets a blow job maybe four times a year from this bitch, when she’s drunk, stoned out of her mind, his birthday, and Christmas. And every damn time he has to be freshly showered. I could never survive not blowing Brock. I have to do it at least once a day. I also learned how to gurgle cum like the sluts in the porn movies do. Brock says it’s so hot.”

Alix starts dry heaving. “Nope. Not going there with you. Seriously, shut the fuck up. No.”

Alana and Kristi are both crying from laughing so hard. “I don’t know what Jordan sees in you, bitch. Can’t you even swallow once in a while? Ugh, whatever. You and he are both totally missing out,” Hayley says, shaking her head.

  Wow.

They leave and then Kristi turns to me. “I’m so sorry about them. I swear, most people go to their salon just for their antics. They are like this every day.”

I smile at her. “I thought they were amusing. Hayley is gross, and shares way too much information, but whatever. She keeps shit real.”

“You have that right. Should have heard them on the way over, I almost wanted to throw them out of the cab.”

“We’re gonna head on home now, we’ll chat later,” Alana says as she and Matt get up.

“Later, Chick,” Kristi calls to them, without looking away from me. I give them a wave, also unable to stop staring at Kristi.

“I had a nice time tonight. I didn’t think I would. I thought this was going to be an epic disaster, but I enjoyed it,” she tells me.

I grab her hand and smile. “I did, too. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I’m glad it was you.”

“We should probably head out now, too. It’s getting late, and I have some homework to get done.”

  “I’ll drive you.”

We settle the bill and head out to my car.

Once she gives me directions we’re off.

“I know you still hang out with Lynnie, but what about Trixie? I haven’t heard you mention her all evening,” I ask her.

She shrugs. “She ditched us when she met Chris, her husband. We were seventeen, and the bestest of friends, but she met the guy, and that was that. It’s like no one else existed.”

“Does she still live in Airdrie? Maybe you could run into her?”

“She does, I saw her when I visited my dad a few weeks ago, but I didn’t say anything. Some friend she was. I don’t need that. I would have still been her friend, but nope, Chris was always by her side, and she would cancel almost every single hang out to be with him, even stopped sitting with us at lunch. Whatever, she chose what she did. That’s that, I’m sure she’s happily married, with kids, and all that fun stuff,” she finishes off sarcastically.

I decide to change the topic because she starts getting riled up. I didn’t realize Trixie was such an issue for her. Fifteen minutes later, I’m walking her to her door. “Well, this is me.”

“You should give me your number and we’ll arrange another night out,” I tell her.

She smiles, and puts her number in my phone. “I’ll look forward to seeing you again.” She grabs my shirt and pulls me in for a kiss.

Her lips crash into mine—tasting of vodka and Sprite. Her tongue sweeps against mine; it’s so damn intense. Her teeth graze my bottom lip then her tongue comes back sweet and slow, tantalizing me.
