She sniffed. “I want a little boy.”
“Can’t say I’d mind a son.” His throat thickened. “Not at all.”
She hooked her arms around his neck. “So, you’re cool with me throwing out my birth control tomorrow?”
He grinned against her mouth. “Abso-fucking-lutely.”
“And maybe we could do a lot of practicing?”
He hugged her closer. “Definitely.”
“Right now?”
He stretched out on his back and rolled them over. “As many times as it takes.”
“Handily, you’re an overachiever in all things.”
He slid down her body, pushing her dress up over her hips to settle his shoulders between her legs.
She grasped his hair. “Deacon, you don’t…” She sighed as he drew a long, lazy lick along her slit. “Have to do that.”
He looked up at her. Red dress bunched up at her waist, her blond hair a tumble on the creamy sheets. His favorite Christmas present with a whole new wish flushing her skin and brightening her eyes.
Lexi and Harper would have been enough for his lifetime, but knowing she wanted more—that she believed in them and their crazy life enough to plan for more?
It was all more than he could have ever hoped for.
He slid off the bed, tugged off his shirt, and toed off his boots.
She sat up and wiggled out of her dress before rolling onto her knees. He crossed the room to douse the lights and cranked the fireplace on.
Hunger and firelight danced in her eyes as he tossed his jeans on the chair in the corner. “Christ, you’re the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen.”
She shook her hair back then held a hand out for him. “You’re pretty gorgeous yourself, Big Guy.”
He knelt on the bed and settled her under him. Years of lovemaking had left them completely at ease with each other. He knew when she needed more foreplay, knew when she wanted it quick and dirty, even knew when she needed more holding than fucking. It was all in her breath, in her eyes, in her grip on his shoulders.
Right now, it wasn’t about the sweat and craziness after a show. Or pinning her delectable ankles behind her ears until she was screaming his name. It was about connecting to her in the most basic level.
He slid into her, a groan colliding with her sigh as she clasped each inch of him until there was nothing but Harper. Her legs, her arms, her pussy—everything clasping him tight.
He propped himself on his elbows, burrowing his arms under her so her hair flowed around her pillow and over his hands. He watched her face each time he sank into her.
Her eyes fluttered shut as her chin tipped back from the friction of their bodies. The tell-tale tremble of her thigh and grip on his hair told him she was close.
“Harper.”
She arched under him, climbing to orgasm.
“Lawless,” he said on a broken groan.
Her huge blue eyes opened. So close. She was blind to everything but the pleasure. He’d fallen into the same vortex a million times.
A million and three tonight.
But he wanted her here in the moment. The connection that only they could find.
She tangled her fingers into his hair, dragging him down to her mouth. “Deacon,” she said against his lips. Tears leaked from the corners of her eyes again and trailed along her temples, into her hair.
“Shh.” He slowed his thrusts to a shallow pulse.
“So big. So much. I love you so much.”
He pressed his forehead to hers. “I know. I love you, too. Forever mine. Forever,” he said on a choking breath as he stilled inside her, his heartbeat crashing in his ears as he came so hard the firelight fuzzed at the edges of his vision.
He barely managed to keep himself propped up over her as he dropped his face into her neck, his shoulders heaving with shuddering breaths.
Her nails coasted down his back in a lazy trail as her foot roamed down the back of his thigh. She purred out a breath and a laugh, completely melting beneath him.
“Is there some sort of competition going on for how many times you can make me come tonight?”
“Not that I’m aware of.”
She stretched under him and yelped when he rolled over, dragging her on top of him. “I guess I just won the orgasm lottery, I guess.”
“You’re the one who’s been attacking me all day.” Deacon settled her against his side where she fell asleep the easiest.
She stacked her hands on his chest and propped her chin on them. “I’m hearing complaints?”
“Hell, no.” He tucked her hair behind her ear. “Just wondering if this was your way of convincing me to have another baby?”
“Well, it is how you make them.”
He laughed. “So, instead of asking me, you just kept practicing?”
“Something like that.”
“Oh, Lawless. It’s never boring with you.”
She settled against him, her cheek against his chest. “Ditto, Big Guy.”
Chapter 6
“Mama! Mama!”
Harper had enough time to drag up the sheet over her breasts before thirty-eight pounds of flying Alexa skidded across the bed.
Deacon woke with a snort, his arm swinging wide. Harper ducked. Deacon’s arms were dangerous on a number of levels. Half-awake could result in suffocation during a roll over, or an elbow to the jaw if she wasn’t careful.
Lexi crawled her way up the sheets and onto Harper’s stomach. “Where’s Santa, Mama?”
“What?” Harper whooshed out a breath. “Santa?”
“It’s Christmas, Mama. Santa didn’t come.” Her huge green eyes were brimming with tears. “Was I really that bad, Mama?”
“No.” Harper slid off of Deacon and turned to hug Lexi. “No, honey. Santa went to our house, that’s all. But he did leave something for you here, just so you’d know he didn’t forget you.”
“He did?” She craned her neck around the room. “Where?”
“Out in the living room.”
“He did?” Deacon asked out of the side of his mouth as he tugged the covers up to hide all his particulars.
Harper had to hook her arm around Lexi’s waist so she didn’t take a header off the tall king-sized bed. “Careful,” she said as Lexi struggled to get free.
“Let me go, Mama. I need to go see.” Lexi dropped with a thump, her footie pajamas swishing across the carpeting and out the door.
Deacon shoved his hair out of his face. “Jesus. I’m glad you thought of that. Bad dad, man. Sure you want to make another one with me?”
Harper rolled over to face him. “I most certainly do.” She dragged him down by his ears to her mouth. His arms came around her as the sheet slid away.
He groaned when her breasts flattened against his chest. “Mrs. Claus, you seem to be missing your suit.”
“Don’t like my birthday suit?”
“Oh, I definitely do.” He cupped her ass, dragging her back over him again.
A squeal from the living room had his moan turning into a groan. “I suppose that means I have to get dressed.”
“Only if you don’t want to scar our child.”
He grunted and slid out of bed, hustling to the bathroom. Harper grabbed her overnight bag and tugged on her sleep pants, bra, and shirt.
She followed the sounds of her daughter ripping at paper. A small tabletop tree was stashed in the corner of their suite. Three presents in matching paper to her home stash were piled under the tree. Lexi paused, mid rip.
“Um…”
“You couldn’t wait for us, huh?”
Her daughter gave her the devilish smile that matched her father’s so well. “I couldn’t wait.”
Harper plucked the box out of her hand. “Wait for Daddy.”
Her lower lip quivered.
“Don’t start that. You know the deal.”
Lexi pushed her dark hair out of her eyes. “Yeah. Christmas is for family.”
“Exactly.”
&
nbsp; The shower went on in their bedroom and Lexi threw herself onto the carpet. “I can’t wait.”
Harper scooped her up, depositing her on the couch. Deacon had fallen asleep without cleaning up after the concert, so she couldn’t blame him for escaping into the shower. Even if he was going to give his daughter a coronary.
Harper dropped the half-opened box in Lexi’s lap. “Okay, just this one.”
“Yes!” She tore at the Rudolph paper with undisguised glee, then shrieked when the jockey Barbie was revealed. She immediately pried the top up and made a distressed wail when the packaging wouldn’t open.
“Okay, kiddo. Wait a second.” Harper swallowed a laugh and covered Lexi’s hand. “There’s about a million twisty thingies in here.”
“Is that a technical term?” Deacon asked from the doorway. His arms were crossed, his hair still dripping into his thermal shirt. He’d gone straight to street clothes since they were heading back home in less than—Harper looked over her shoulder at the clock—an hour.
Lexi snatched the Barbie out of Harper’s hands and ran to her father. “See. See what I got.” She raised her arms to Deacon and he scooped her up with a huge smile.
Harper’s heart twisted and grew about thirteen sizes. He was so amazing with their daughter. Never a harsh word unless it was warranted, and he always took time for her even if he was slammed with work.
Nothing was more important to Deacon than his family. The fact that she’d even had a moment’s worry about it was beyond stupid.
He’d been created for this. For her, for her daughter and whatever children they had in the future.
She followed Lexi over as Deacon oohed over Barbie. His huge hands were gentle on the packaging. His brows furrowed as he tried to push the long blond hair out of the way to get to one of the twist ties around Barbie’s neck.
Harper laughed and took it from him.
Deacon’s eyebrow arched. “BDSM Barbie?”
Harper snorted. “Different store and packaging.”
“What’s BeeDeesm?”
Harper gave him a baleful stare. “Good job, Dad.”
“Look at the helmet she’s got to ride the horse,” Deacon said helpfully.
Lexi made grabby hands and Harper handed over the headgear for the doll. Lexi pulled at the straps. “Like my bike?”
“Exactly.” Deacon’s face relaxed.
Harper untwisted the last tie and handed over the doll. “There we go.”
Lexi hugged the doll to her chest. “She’s bootiful.”
“Yes, she is.” Deacon kissed Lexi’s forehead. “Not as bootiful as you, though.”
Lexi giggled. “Oh, Daddy.” She peered around Harper, her attention already fading as she sought the other pile of gifts.
“What else have we got?” Deacon asked and put her down.
Lexi grabbed his hand and dragged him after her. “Santa left me two more presents.”
“Two, huh?” Deacon threw a wink over his shoulder at Harper. “Santa was really generous.”
Harper followed them both to the little tree. She linked her hand with Deacon’s as their daughter ripped at the next gift in the pile.
“Horsey!” Lexi laughed.
Harper ducked under Deacon’s arm. “Pretty nice Christmas so far.”
He leaned down and kissed her gently. “Your presents are at the house.”
Harper looped her arm around his back. “Nah, my presents are right here.”
