CUTTER: RED SIN MC
Page 13
My legs felt like they were on fire.
What was happening to me?
My phone started buzzing next to me on the table. I glanced at it then back at Braden. It was weird but I already felt like he controlled me, felt like I needed his permission or something before I could make a single move.
“It’s rude to pick up the phone during dinner.”
I hit the reject button but it just started ringing again.
“Oh, just pick it up,” he growled. The waiter set down another drink in front of him and he downed it in one gulp. “Pick it up, I said,” he demanded. “Now.”
I jumped and glanced down at the screen. I didn’t even recognize the number but Braden was looking at me eagerly so I clicked the answer button anyway. “Hello?”
“Let me talk to Braden.” A woman snapped on the other end of the line.
“What? Who is this?”
“I said but Braden on the damn phone.”
I looked down at the receiver confused. “It’s… it’s for you.”
Braden sighed then grabbed the phone out of my hand and hit the end button. It started buzzing in his hand right away and he reached over tossing it into the ice bucket in the middle of the table.
“Hey!” I grabbed it out of the tin and worked fast to wipe it off. “What’s wrong with you?”
“I don’t have time for my sister or Troy, they are just going to keep calling and I’m busy avoiding them.” He downed the drink in front of him just as fast as the others. Apparently men like Braden Nash didn’t have to wait long for drinks.
“Why are you avoiding them?” I tried to hit the button on my phone and after a few seconds the screen came to life but it took about six tries to slide the screen lock off. Great.
“Because they’re annoying, I don’t feel like listening to them, especially when the have no idea what they’re talking about.” He glanced around and shoved his empty glass off the table. “Where the fuck is the waiter?”
“What is wrong with you tonight?” I asked him softly. “You’re being different… you’re being scary and… and dangerous.” I gulped after I say the last part. He had really started to worry me.
“Yeah? And do you like that, Addison?” He leaned closer to me. “Do you like when I’m dangerous and intense? I mean that’s part of the thrill of it all, isn’t it?” The waiter had bought him a new drink and started to clean up the glass now shattered on the floor without a word. “Leave it,” Braden snapped and he scurried away.
I’d had enough. I shook my head and pushed up from the table.
“If you take one more step you can consider yourself fired.”
Jesus.
“I was just going to the bathroom,” I lied. “Is that okay with you, master?”
Excitement flashed across his face for a split second but then he just shrugged.
I was relieved to get away from him, thankful for the minute to myself. I felt like I couldn’t breath around him, like he was in complete control of my emotions and thoughts. What was wrong with me? I was turning into a nutcase.
I looked at myself in the mirror for a second then put my head in my hands and forced myself to take a deep breath. Nothing bad was happening, I could handle this. I was going to go back out there and be purely profession, I was going to be perfectly polite.
And then I was going to wrap things the hell up before they got any weirder.
But when I looked up there he was in the mirror, staring at me hungrily.
I swung around. “What the hell are you doing in here?”
He titled his head to the side and looked me up and down, a fire in his eyes I had never seen on a man before in my life. He took a step closer to me. “You really should have worn a different dress.”
And then he was throwing his body against mine, smothering my mouth with his. I gasped into his mouth, shocked, but he took the chance to stick his tongue deep down my throat and start exploring.
I gasped, so shocked and thrilled by him that I felt like I might explode.
I somehow managed to push him away but he was back on top of me again, impulsive and hungry. I felt like I was under attack, like my body was his and had been designed specifically for the purpose of him taking it.
“Braden,” I gasped.
“Shut up,” he snarled, devouring my lips into his again.
I stumbled back into the mirror and my back landed against it with a loud bang but I barely noticed the shooting pain that consumed my bones because the feeling of pleasure was far more powerful. Braden’s hands were inside of my hair and holding my head in place so hard that it occurred to me he could easily snap my neck if he wanted to.
I ran my fingers through his hair impulsively, unable to control the effect he had on my body but he barely let me touch him before he pinned my wrists over my head and started sucking on my neck as he railed me harder into the wall.
I wanted to protest, I knew this was wrong, but it felt so right.
“We…” I stumbled over my words.
What was I doing? This was a bad choice…. This was dangerous. Braden Nash was bad news. So why couldn’t I make the sweltering heat growing between my legs listen to reason?
Somewhere in the distance I was vaguely aware of the fact that my phone was going off but I was too caught up in Braden’s tongue all over my body to care.
“We can’t do this,” I got out somehow.
He pulled one of his hands down and for a second I thought he was going to stop but the worry was short lived when he took his hand and ripped the front of my dress open, exposing my red bra. I blushed instantly but Braden was too busy sucking on the center of my breasts to notice.
He dipped his tongue into my cleavage and started licking rapidly.
My thoughts immediately went to how good that tongue would feel on the center of my most private areas, sucking all of my juices dry until I begged him for more.
“Braden,” I tried again to get control of the situation.
“Shut up,” he ordered me again. More licking, my bra was completely pulled down by then. “I want you. I want you now.”
It hadn’t been a statement. It had been a demand.
I sighed and pulled his head up from my chest with all the will I had. “Stop.”
He ignored me, kissing me hard on the lips.
I bit down on the bottom of his lip hard and he jumped back, startled. “What the fuck?”
I yanked my bra up. “I’m not some girl you can demand to sleep with you. I’m not… I’m not like that.” I tried to regulate my breathing but it was hard, I was so worked up and hot.
Braden ran his tongue over the bottom of his lip, tasting the blood. “You showed up to a business dinner wearing a dress like that and you aren’t like that, Addison, really?”
I pulled up the top of my dress but it was little use since he had tore it to shreds. “What is wrong with you? Why are you so damn hot and cold with me?”
My phone buzzed again.
“Because,” he shouted, “that’s who I am. I’m pissed off and you happen to be in the line of fire. You being a little sensitive brat isn’t going to help the situation at all.”
My phone started ringing again right away.
Braden kicked the garbage can and it went flying all over the floor. “For Crist sakes, pick up the damn phone already.”
I grabbed it off the counter without looking at the caller ID. “WHAT?”
“Hello, is Addison Cooper available, please?”
“This is her,” I choked out, my eyes still locked on Braden. He looked so angry, so on the edge of whatever was going on in his mind. Whatever it was, something told me I wouldn’t be able to truly understand.
“Addison, Lauren Johnson, from the LA Tribute calling.”
My heart stopped. The LA Tribute was calling me?
“Listen, I got your message and I’m going to be honest… I thought you had lost your mind but I just got a lead on a man who died across town, the mother of the vict
im is swearing that in his last hours he was spitting out stories about a man in a black mask with green eyes.” Lauren paused. “Addison, I’d really love to talk to you, I think you might be on to something here.”
“Yes, I’d like that… I, I think so, too.” I was trying to keep my cool but it was hard, I wanted to cry and scream. Minutes ago Braden Nash had me thinking I was crazy but I had been right. The man in the mask did exist… how could I have doubted it even for a second?
Guilt washed over me.
“How soon can you be here?” Lauren asked.
“Soon.”
Braden looked like he was about to grab the phone out of my hand and smash it into a million pieces.
“Great, you didn’t shop this around too many other places, did you?”
“Some,” I admitted.
“That’s okay… did you talk to Nash Enterprises by any chance?”
“I did.”
Silence greeted me on the other end.
“You need to get here as soon as possible, I’ll text you an address.”
“I can do that.”
There was another pause and then a worried sigh. “And Addison?”
“Yes?”
“Stay away from Nash enterprises, Braden Nash is a very dangerous man.”
And then the line went dead.
