Broken: The sequel to THE PREACHER'S SON
Page 29
“I ought to kill you both!” he sneered. “But first, I plan on getting what I want from you, Maxine. Your boyfriend is going to watch and there’s not a damn thing he can do about it.” He laughed as if he’d made some joke.
Matt still had his hands tied behind his back but he was now standing. His head was bleeding and so was his nose where Rogers had kicked him in the face. He stared at the man defiantly.
“Get on that cot,” Rogers demanded looking at Max.
Max walked over to the cot and put the dirty blanket that was there around her body to cover her nakedness.
“No need to get modest now.” Rogers chuckled. “We’ve seen all you have to offer.”
Max did not reply. He shoved Matthew over to the cot. “Sit down!”
He waved the gun and looked out the shed door contemplating his next move. Max glanced over at her cell phone that was still open on the floor. Rogers had knocked it out of her hand before she could hit the send button. If only she could distract him long enough to hit it.
She looked at Matthew and motioned her head toward the phone and stood up dragging the blanket. She walked over to Rogers trying to calm her nerves. A plan began to form in her mind.
“I told you to sit down!” he said, looking at her.
“Don’t you touch her!” Matthew snapped angrily.
“I’m cold,” Max said, dragging the blanket moving closer to him. She gave him a pitiful look.” Can I put my clothes back on?”
She kept her eyes on him and backed up slightly where she had seen the phone. She let the blanket drag the floor and stepped back searching with her foot. Where was it? She knew that she was standing in the vicinity where she had seen it.
“I can warm you up,” he sneered looking her up and down before grabbing her and pulling her into his arms. He kissed her hard and Max tried not to think. Her mind was racing. She knew that she had to keep him distracted. She backed up a little. “I don’t know what to do. I don’t want you to hurt me again.” She backed up dragging the blanket in the direction she remembered seeing the phone. She kept her eyes on Rogers while she searched for the phone with her foot behind the blanket. She lowered it enough to expose her breasts for his view and his glare softened a bit. She would do whatever it took to get him to think that he had the upper hand. Suddenly she felt empowered. If she could get the phone and hit the send button, she was sure that the operator would alert the police.
“You want it don’t you?” Rogers asked grinning and looking at her breasts.
“I don’t know what to do,” Max said as she continued to search with her foot. She allowed a few more tears to fall and she could tell he liked seeing her appear distressed.
He reached out and touched her face. “I’ll show you what to do.”
Max tried not to flinch as her stomach threatened to empty its contents. “You know I haven’t had anyone since you.”
She backed up and little and felt the phone at her heel. She thanked God and continued to look at Rogers.
Matthew tried to keep his temper in check. It was all he could do to keep silent. Max had looked at the phone when Rogers glanced out the door and then back at him. He was pretty sure Rogers had forgotten about it for the moment. The man felt that he had the upper hand in the situation. Matthew was sure of that much.
He was worried about Max and how all this was affecting her, but somehow she seemed to have become stronger once she glanced over at the phone and he knew that she was going to do something. If only his hands weren’t tied, he could help her.
He watched as Max continued to talk to Rogers sounding timid and scared. Somehow he could tell she was putting on a bit of a show for the man as he saw her lower the blanket to her waist and move backwards a little. The phone was right near her foot and he wondered how she could pick it up without Rogers catching on to what she was doing.
“You know I haven’t had anyone since you.” Max was saying and Matthew could see her stop moving when she came in contact with the phone.
Rogers looked over at Matthew and laughed. “I figured as much. You need a real man, don’t you baby.”
Max looked at Matthew. “He’s a real man. Please Rogers. Let us go!”
He looked at her. “Why should I? So that you can send me back to that hell hole? No thank you.” He walked over to her and reached out and pinched her breast.
Max felt the phone touch her heel. She pretended to shake and allowed the blanket to fall to the ground making sure it covered the phone.
“Please Rogers. I’m afraid,” she begged looking at him. She quickly picked up the blanket again along with the phone and backed up.
He reached out and touched her other breast. “Now Max, I promise you that you’ll like it.” He pulled her to him kissing her.
Max held onto the phone under the blanket. Having a firm grip on the phone, she broke the kiss and backed up a little.
Matthew stood up and Rogers pointed the gun at him. “Sit down. I’m going to make you watch!”
Max sat on the cot still holding the phone under the blanket. “Listen to him Matthew.”
“Please don’t hurt me,” she begged looking at Rogers trying to keep him thinking that she was afraid of him and that he was still in control. She kept her breasts exposed for his viewing because she could tell that he could hardly keep his eyes off them. She needed to keep his distracted while she tried to unlock the phone without being able to look at it and then hit the send button.
He laughed. “I told you it only hurts the first time, Max. You’ll like it this time. I promise you.”
She pulled the blanket up around her and with the other felt the phone’s key pad and quickly put in her four digit code and then she hit the send button. She heard the phone dialing and prayed that he didn’t hear it glad that she’d keyed the number in correctly. She talked over the low ringing to keep Rogers distracted.
“I’m scared,” she said loudly. “Please, Rogers, don’t hurt me!”
He laughed and looked back out the door again before turning back to Max. “This is going to be fun, Maxine.”
“You bastard!” Matthew snapped, playing along. “Someone will find out that we’re here. Someone is going to come looking for that woman!”
Rogers went back to the door and looked out again apparently to make sure that no one else was coming. The phone had stopped ringing and the operator had answered.
“911 What is your emergency?”
“What are you going to do with Matthew?” she said loudly hoping that the operator would catch on.
“911 What is your emergency?”
Max began crying out loudly “Please, don’t rape me again, Rogers. Don’t kill us! You can escape if you just leave now. The police will never catch you!”
She spoke loudly letting the phone drop on the floor underneath the blanket. She kicked it backwards with her heel praying that the operator could still hear what was going on in the room. She didn’t want to take a chance that he’d catch her with it.
“Shut that noise up,” Rogers snapped, slamming the door closed. “Crying won’t help you.”
“I’m sorry, Max. This is my entire fault,” Matthew said. “I’ll die first before I let him put his hands on you again.”
Rogers peeped out the door again. “Brave words from someone who’s tied up!”
Matthew could feel Max’s hand behind him working on the knot of the rope while she still talked trying to distract Rogers. He could feel it loosening somewhat, and his fingers touched hers as he tried work with her to free his hands.
Rogers was looking from the window now apparently somewhat paranoid that someone would show up looking for Greta. After a few moments, he turned back to them still with the gun trained on both of them.
“I don’t think anyone else knew that Greta was coming down here,” he said, looking at the two of them. “If that was the case, they’d have been here by now.” He laughed gleefully somewhat relieved. “Now it’s time to have a little fun befo
re I kill you both!”
He looked at the two of them as if thinking for a moment and Matthew stopped moving his hands. He didn’t want Rogers to realize what he and Max were doing.
“Come over here.” Rogers said, finally undoing his pants as he held the gun. “You two are sitting too close together. Get over here.”
Max stood up but didn’t move from where she was.
“Your boyfriend’s going to find out how it should be done,” Rogers sneered.
Matthew could feel the rope loosening as he still worked his wrists. He almost had it where he could slip his hand through. He just needed a little more time.
“What about her?” Max said sitting back down and pointing to Greta “Don’t you care that she’s lying there? She could be dead!”
“She is dead. I checked,” Rogers said. “Now come over here or you’ll be joining her.”
Max got up and slowly moved toward Rogers as he undid his pants. She looked back at Matthew hoping that she had helped him enough to get loose.
“Come on over here and show papa a good time.” Rogers sneered. “Come on over here. He can’t help you. I want you on your knees!”
Matthew stood up again. “Don’t do it Max!”
“I told you to sit down!” he yelled. He pointed the gun directly at Matthew.
“Go to hell!” Matthew said.
Max ran over and stopped him while reaching behind him to tug on the rope that tied his hands a little more. “Please Matthew. Do as he says.”
She looked at Rogers. “Please don’t shoot him. I’ll do whatever you ask.”
“I am not going to sit here and watch him rape you, Max. He’ll have to kill me first.” Matthew said.
“I wouldn’t mind doing that and still I’d rape her and lay her on your body as I do it.” Rogers said. “Now sit down! You’re going to watch how a real man handles his business!”
Max put her arm around him and yanked on the rope some more. She felt it loosen under her tugging. She stood in front of Matthew blocking Rogers view. “Matthew, stop interfering!” she said for Rogers’ benefit. “I’m going to let him do whatever he wants.”
“That’s a good girl,” Rogers said, laughing. He grabbed her and pulled her away from Matthew.
“I tell you what. I’m feeling mighty generous today.” Rogers said. He pointed the gun at Max. “Undo his pants.”
Max looked at him surprised. “What are you going to do?”
“I told you that I’m feeling generous, especially since you’ve accepted your fate. Let’s take a look at the competition. Undo his pants.”
He cocked the gun and Max knew he meant business. She undid Matthew’s pants as he stood up and they dropped to the floor.
“Pull down his boxers.” Rogers instructed.
Max did as she was told hoping that Matthew could still get out of the ropes. She looked back at Rogers who was watching them while he stroked himself.
“My, my. I’m impressed.” Rogers said, grinning looking at Matthew who was bigger than he was. “The question is though; do you know what to do with what you got?”
“God, you’re a sick bastard!” Matthew spat. He continued to twist his wrist behind his back trying to squeeze his hand through the loop that had loosened.
“Be nice now, or I won’t be so generous.” Rogers sneered grinning at them.
He looked at Max. “I tell you what. You need to warm things up a little. I want you nice and ready when you come to me, so go ahead and do your boyfriend first.”
“What are you talking about?” Max asked, looking at him confused.
“God, you’re a dumb twit!” Rogers said, rolling his eyes at her.
Rogers waved the gun. “Warm your lips on him and when you’re done, you can do me.”
He looked at Matthew’s flaccid member. “Go on. He looks like he needs some help.”
Max looked at Matthew. “Don’t do it Max,” he said to her. He closed his eyes not wanting to see her face. How were they ever going to move forward if she was forced to do this? He tried to pull his hand from the rope but he didn’t tug too hard because Rogers was looking at him.
“Shut up. I’m in charge here!” Rogers said. He waved the gun at Max laughing. “Do it. This will be the last time you two will be together, so make it good for him.”
Max closed her eyes and lifted Matthew’s penis to her lips. She was just glad it was Matthew instead of Rogers.
“I’m sorry, Max. So sorry.” Matthew whispered his voice cracking as he sat back down.
Max looked over at Rogers while she took Matthew into her mouth. She glanced up at Matthew whose face was like stone. She knew that Rogers wanted to humiliate them but somehow she didn’t feel that way since it was Matthew. She loved him and felt that she would do whatever she had to in order to buy them some more time.
“What’s your problem, boyfriend? Your girl can’t help you get it up?” He taunted Matthew and continued to point the gun. “Hurry up Maxine! I want my turn. My patience is not that long.”
Max looked up at Matthew. She felt his member grow hard under her attention and he was looking at Rogers with hatred on his face. She put one hand behind his back to tug on the rope as she began to move faster up and down his member.
“Hurry up. I don’t have all day.” Rogers said. He rubbed his leg. “You’re lucky that you’re such a poor shot. You just grazed me or I’d really been pissed!”
He watched Max and Matthew for a few minutes and Max was sure that he was unaware of what she was doing with her free hand.
“You’re taking too long. I’m glad I decided to watch so you’ll know what to do when you come over here. Faster! Move faster! Take all of him in baby.” He watched her with that lewd grin on his face. “Yeah, that’s it,” he said as Max complied to his demands.
Matthew did not say anything, but just continued to stare at Rogers. He tried not to concentrate on anything else but getting out of those ropes. He was almost there, just a few more moments. He felt his hand slip further out of the ropes.
“Having fun, boyfriend?” Rogers asked laughing.
“I’m going to kill you, Rogers,” Matthew hissed as one of his hands came free.
“Brave words, boy, but I’m the one with the gun.”
Just then they heard something outside that sounded like a car driving on gravel, and Rogers hurried to the door and looked out the shed. While he was distracted Matthew was able to get one hand free and stood up and rushed over to Rogers. Rogers turned around just as Matthew lunged at him trying to knock the gun away.
Rogers raised the gun and Matthew pushed the hand holding the gun away from his body while trying to wrap the rope that was on his other hand around Roger’s neck. They fell to the floor in the struggle for control of the gun.
“I heard someone drive up! Go get help!” Matthew yelled still wrestling Rogers for the gun.
Max quickly wrapped the blanket around herself and opened the door rushing outside.
“Help, please!” she cried, running outside happy to see the sheriff’s vehicle. The temperature had dropped and she was freezing, but she didn’t care.
The sheriff got out of the car with his gun drawn, looking around. “What’s going on here? There was a 911 call.”
“Help us, please,” Max said. “Rogers is in there, and he has a gun.”
Just then they both heard the gun go off and before the officer could stop her Max ran back inside with the sheriff close behind.
“Drop it!” the sheriff said to Rogers who had his back to the door and was attempting to stand. Max watched him slowly stand and drop the gun and then her eyes went to Matthew who was lying on the floor bleeding.
Max screamed and dropped to the floor. Matthew wasn’t moving and blood was coming from his stomach.
The sheriff put his gun to the back of Roger’s head and then quickly cuffed him as he glanced around and saw Greta’s dead body. He pushed Rogers face down on the floor and called for help before checking Matthew’
s pulse.
“He’s still alive,” he said to a distraught Max.
“Call an ambulance! Oh, God, Matthew!” she cried cradling his head in her lap.
The sheriff pushed Rogers out of the shed and locked him in the cruiser.
Matthew was unconscious and barely breathing. Max didn’t know what she’d do if she lost him. Where was God? Why had this happened?
“Hold on, Matthew,” she said, kissing his cheek. She couldn’t lose him, she just couldn’t!
Soon she heard the ambulance coming. The sheriff was helping her to slow down the bleeding by pressing her panties to the wound.
The attendants quickly came in and took control. They put him in the ambulance and Max quickly dressed. She prayed that Matthew would be all right and followed the ambulance in her car.
Matthew was rushed into surgery and Max called his family once they arrived at the hospital.
She was in shock herself. The hospital insisted that she be checked out and the sheriff questioned her about what had happened.
Max told him all that she knew that occurred from the time she received the text message until the sheriff had arrived.
Max was admitted to the hospital and Dr. Nelson was called to come in and talk to her. She didn’t want to talk to Dr. Nelson. She wanted to know how Matthew was doing, but they wouldn’t tell her anything.
She lay on the cot feeling helpless. Just then her sister and Eric rushed into the room where she had been placed.
Max felt numb as she explained to his family what had happened.
“I told him to wait for me to go with him,” Eric said angrily. “I knew I should not have taken his word that he would call me.”
Rachel and her husband came to Max’s room to check on her, and she immediately asked about Matthew.
“He’s in surgery, and he’s been in there for more than three hours. I hope he’s going to be all right.” Rachel sniffed.
Eric looked at his mother helplessly as his father tried to comfort her.
“Let’s think positive. Matthew is strong,” he said encouragingly.
Dr. Nelson came to see Maxine, and they were all sent out of the room.
