He made a grunting noise. “Not going to last,” a deep moan. “You have one hell of a sexy mouth.”

His hand stayed in her hair. He touched her with such tenderness. She kept it slow and easy. Pumping her hand in time with her mouth and tongue.

After a couple of minutes, he was panting, making small circular motions with his hips. She sucked him as deep as he would go, taking the head of his cock to the back of her throat. At the same time she fisted him quicker, using a bit more pressure.

  “Fuck!” a harsh growl.

She released him. “Shhh. You need to stay quiet,” Louise had to giggle.

She took him back into her mouth. Hard and deep.

He muttered a soft curse. His fingers splayed on her scalp, they tangled a little deeper and yet he remained careful not to hurt her or force her.

  “I’m going to come.”

  She sucked him deeper.

“Going to …” He pulled away, taking two or three steps back. He closed a hand over the head of his cock while the other pumped up and down on his shaft. His face was pinched. Granite was frowning deeply. His gaze was locked with hers.

It was the single most erotic thing she had ever seen. The sound of his ragged breathing filled the room.

She realized that she was breathing hard as well. She couldn’t take her eyes off of him. Then he made a strained, grunting noise. His shoulders hunched over. He pursed his lips. Granite kept pumping for a few beats and then his movements slowed. His breaths came as harsh grunts. He finally stopped moving. “I could get used to that,” he managed between breaths. “I’m just going to…” he nodded in the direction of the bathroom.

  “Yeah, sure.”

“I won’t be long.” He disappeared, closing the door behind him.

Louise got back onto her feet. Her legs felt a bit shaky. Damn! She could get used to this too. That was the problem. He wanted this to become a regular thing. Louise knew that she shouldn’t allow this arrangement but she didn’t think she would have much willpower where this man was concerned. It was a problem, a huge problem. If they were intimate on a regular basis she would end up falling even more for him. She knew it.

  Chapter 22

  Four days later …

There was a knock at her door.

Louise looked up from her computer. “Yes?”

Igneous put his head around the jamb, he grinned as soon as his eyes met hers. “I have a delivery for you.”

It was the supplies she’d ordered a few days before. Both the legit stuff as well as the other things … the mouthwash and scented soaps. The alcohol wipes and sanitizer all designed to mask the scent of oral sex. Her mind went into overdrive for a few seconds even though nothing had happened between the two of them since.

The last time she had seen him, Granite had whispered into her ear. It was amazing how three little words could have such an effect on her.

  I can’t wait.

She’d been immediately aroused and terrified. She looked down at the boxes. There was more than one package. Three to be exact.

“Thanks, Igneous,” she smiled at him.

“No, problem. Can I help you unpack?”

“No!” she said, a bit too sharply. “I can manage,” she added. Louise smiled, praying she looked relaxed and carefree. “Thanks so much for these.”

“No problem, Doc,” he winked. “I’ll see you soon.”

  “Yeah. Take care.”

He gave her another wink and left. Louise found she could only breathe easy once he was gone. They were sneaking around, or, they were about to sneak around. Her heart also beat faster at the prospect.

She grabbed a pair of scissors from the drawer and opened it, using the sharp side to cut open the box. It had been taped closed. The box was filled with her medical supplies. She spent the next while putting them away.

Using the same scissors, she cut the next box open. The smallest of the three. There were a couple of bubble wrapped items inside. She pulled the wrap open and her mouth fell open.

“Oh my god …” she muttered to herself. “No!”

Louise pulled the next one out. There was a note inside.

Thank you for all your hard work!

  G. X

Her certificates. The ones that had fallen from the wall and crashed. They’d all been reframed. Granite had organized this. She bit down on her lip. Louise couldn’t believe it. She blinked a few times, feeling a little emotional about it. It was stupid. They weren’t even together or anything. Thing was, he’d given her enough thought to go to all the trouble of fixing them. He knew how much her career meant to her. He must have seen the ruined frames on the shelf. That or Rock had told him about them. It didn’t matter.

It was a small thing. An inconsequential thing, yet it meant the world to her.

Louise sniffed. She hung the frames, one by one, back in their rightful places on the wall. Then her gaze turned to the next box.

What the hell was in it?

She couldn’t wait to find out. Louise grabbed the scissors and made quick work of the tape. She pulled the box open and almost fell on her ass.

Victoria’s Secret was a damn sight richer, that was for darned sure. She pulled out set after set of lingerie. In all kinds of colors and types. From thin lacy numbers to push-up bras. From full sheer briefs to tiny thongs that looked more like dental floss than underwear. Louise had a goofy smile on her face. Her cheeks actually hurt from smiling so wide.

There were a couple of dresses at the bottom of the box. Sexy numbers. A red A-line ankle length dress that had no back. Nothing. The back dipped right down. So sexy it almost took her breath away. Then there was a short green, sleeveless dress. The color would suit her perfectly. The black dress was a wraparound, it had short sleeves. The next black number had a plunging neckline. It was daring and bold.

There was a note at the bottom of the box.

  Because you are beautiful.

  G. X

Simple and sweet. She clutched the note to her chest feeling like a teenager. Louise spied a second note.

Choose a set of lingerie and put it on. Do it now! Then put your coat back on. No clothes. Don’t be a spoil sport.

  G. X

Louise shook her head, she was still smiling like an idiot. He knew her well by now. He’d know she’d have big reservations about wearing a coat without any clothes underneath. She finally sighed, looking at her watch. It was ten minutes until Granite was due to arrive for his appointment.

Her heart beat wildly in her chest. She wanted to shower but at the same time, she didn’t want to seem like she was trying too hard.

Louise sifted through the lingerie, finally choosing a sexy black set. It was a push up bra so she’d have a little cleavage and a dental floss pair of thongs. She packed everything else away, shoving the box in the corner. Then she headed for the bathroom.

Louise did as he said, slipping into the lingerie and her medical coat. She put her low heels back on. For a moment, she contemplated taking her hair out of the bun and then thought better of it. Lastly, she applied some deodorant and a fresh coat of lip gloss.

If anyone came to her clinic they would be none the wiser. She looked like she normally did. Louise bit down on her lower lip. She felt sexy and alive.

She folded her skirt and blouse and packed them away. There were still a few minutes to kill. Louise had just opened a file when there was a knock at the door.

Granite walked in. His gaze zeroed in on her. He stared at her for a couple of seconds. The intensity of his stare had her breath seizing in her lungs. Thankfully, he looked away. She could breathe again. He took her office chair and used it to prop the door closed.

Her heart raced and her hands felt clammy.

“Your supplies arrived,” he said, turning back to her. It was more of a statement than a question.

She gave a nod. “Thank you for reframing my certificates.”

He smiled. It lasted all of a half a second. “You’re welco

me.”

“Thanks for the …” She felt her face heat up. “Other things as well.”

  “No need to thank me.”

  “But, I want to. I …”

Granite shook his head. “Those were just as much for me, so really, you don’t need to thank me.”

  Her mouth went dry.

“Did you do what I asked you to do?” His gaze traveled down the length of her body.

Louise nodded. “Yeah.” She swallowed thickly.

“Good!” a rumble. He stalked towards her. “I meant it when I said I couldn’t wait.”

He stopped just short of her. His focus was on her white coat. “Undo some of those buttons.”

Louise gave a nod. Her hands shook a bit as she undid the first one or two buttons. She sucked in a deep breath, continuing to open them up. One at a time.

Granite licked his lower lip. It was a slow swipe of his tongue. She couldn’t help but track the movement. “All of them,” he demanded, drawing her attention back to the job at hand. She did as he said, undoing the last few.

He closed the distance between them and took ahold of her hips. His hands were big and warm. Then he picked her up. She gripped his shoulders.

Granite put her down on the gurney. The mattress was firm. Her ass was on the very edge.

Her coat was still closed, even though all of the buttons were undone. He stepped between her thighs and carefully parted the starched cotton. His eyes were dark and so focused. It took her breath away to think that all of it was directed at her.

“So damned beautiful.” He looked back into her eyes. Granite reached behind her and took the tie out of her hair. One by one he removed the pins holding all the strands in place. “That’s better.” He leaned forward and kissed her. Soft and slow. Really sweet.

Then he pulled back, looking deep into her eyes. “Lean back,” he instructed. Louise did as he asked, keeping herself semi-upright by balancing on her elbows. Her coat fell all the way open. She parted her thighs some more. She’d never felt more sensual or more desired.

Granite dragged his eyes across her body. By now he was sporting one hell of an erection.

“Take off those pants!” She was appalled to hear how husky her voice sounded.

Granite’s mouth twitched at the corner but he did as she said, pulled down the elasticated pants and stepped out of them one leg at a time. He was so attractive. His naked body was something too. From his long muscular legs to his broad chest. Not to mention everything in-between.

Granite leaned forward over her, his cock rubbed up against her upper thigh before connecting with her panty-clad pussy. She made a gentle moaning noise. How could she not? His hard tip rubbed against her clit

“I want to be inside you so badly it hurts.” Granite gave her another sweet kiss that made her toes curl and her breath come in soft pants.

“I want you too,” breathless. Even huskier than before.

Granite kissed her neck, then he kissed the tops of her breasts before planting a delicate kiss on her stomach. Everywhere he touched felt amazing. Goosebumps lifted on her arms.

“I’ll make you feel good,” he said as he pulled the string-like thong to the side. “So damned good.” Barely the tip of his tongue brushed her swollen clit. It was enough to make her cry out.

She bit down on her lower lip to stop herself from making too much noise.

“So delicious,” he whispered against her clit. “I’m going to make you come on my mouth …” a lick, “my tongue …” a suck, “my hand.” His finger pressed against her opening. Then he made good on his promise. Several times

  Chapter 23

  Two weeks later …

“I can’t believe how much those two are growing.”

“I should hope so,” Breeze gave a tired smile. “Considering how often they drink, especially all hours of the night.”

“How often do they wake up?” Louise took a sip of her orange juice.

“At around ten, then again at one and then at about five.”

Louise relaxed. “Okay, so they’re completely normal then. It might feel overwhelming, and it’s understandable that you’re tired. Do they keep you up a long time?”

The other woman shook her head. “Nah! Twenty minutes, maybe half an hour. Nothing excessive, thing is …” Breeze paused. “That’s Crystal’s schedule. Little Gem wakes up at about nine, midnight and four. I’m finished!” she yawned. “It feels like I just get my eyes closed and I’m awake for the next one.”

“You have to get them onto a schedule,” Louise warned. “It’s really important. I’m not sure how you’re coping.”

“I’m not.” Breeze widened her eyes. “They do wake up together some of the time.” She looked at the nursing babies in her arms. “Mainly during the day.”

“Some of the time and during the day is not enough though.”

“You’re telling me!” Breeze shook her head. Her eyes were bloodshot.

“If one wakes up, you need to wake up the other one. I’m not an expert but I know a few basics and this is one of them.”

Breeze nodded. “You’re right and every night I tell myself I’m going to do it but then I don’t.” She wrinkled her nose. “I can’t wake up a sleeping baby. Especially so soon after working so hard to get her to sleep.”

“You have to get them onto the same pattern though. You can’t go on like this.”

Breeze nodded. “I know. Ugh! You are so right. I’m going to be strong and do it. It doesn’t matter how hard it will be to wake up a child I only just put to bed, it just has to be done.”

“For your own sanity,” Louise added. Her friend looked exhausted.

Breeze gave a tired smile. “Enough about my really boring existence. I can’t wait to get out and about again. To lead a bit of a normal life.” She shook her head. “Don’t get me wrong, I’m loving being a mom. I love these two so much.” She looked down at the girls in her arms.

Gem had just fallen asleep. There was milk ‒ the dragon equivalent ‒ on her chin. Crystal was still sucking but the pauses between sucks were getting longer and longer. “How are things with you?” Breeze asked, looking a less tired.

“Good,” she shrugged. “Doing my thing.”

“I have to say, you look different somehow. Ever since you and Granite had your dirty weekend,” Breeze paused, “even he seems different. Volcano and I were discussing it.” Then she huffed out a breath. “Is there something going on between the two of you?”

“Of course not!” Louise answered a little too quickly. “That’s nuts.”

  “Are you sure?”

“I’m absolutely sure. It was a one-time thing. It happened and now it’s over, end of story.”

Breeze kept her eyes locked with Louise’s for what felt like the longest time. She finally looked away. “Alright, if you say so but I still think he has a thing for you.”

“No, he doesn’t.” It was sexual. They hardly talked about anything other than the Resistance Therapy.

It wasn’t like sex talk counted. They did a ton of that. It was seriously hot but it didn’t count as actual conversation. It certainly wasn’t deep and meaningful. “It’s strictly business,” she added.

Breeze cocked her head. “I think you have a bit of a thing for him as well. I’ve seen the way you guys look at each other. It’s like a knowing look. Like the two of you share some sort of secret that the rest of us aren’t privy to. I can’t quite put my finger on it.” Her eyes were raised in thought.

“We had sex once and that’s something, I think. It was to me.” She held up a hand. “Not that I have any kind of feelings for him or anything. Not beyond friendship, even though you couldn’t really call us friends,” she was ranting and if she carried on she was sure to give them away. She didn’t want to put Breeze in that position.

“If you say so. He’s just acting differently that’s all.”

Breeze was right. Granite was acting differently towards her. He’d smiled at her a coup
le of times in public. Another delivery had arrived with more clothing. Spaghetti-strap tops, sundresses, the most beautiful sandals and a pair of stud earrings. They were the best cubic zirconias she had ever seen. So sparkly. She’d worn them for the last week straight.

She was enjoying the attention and enjoyed spending time with him. Despite not having actual sex, the orgasms were off the chart and if anything, he was trying harder as a result.

Granite had slipped into her room in the dead of the night and had actually fallen asleep with her last night. In her bed; she’d had her head resting on his chest. Thank god he’d woken up and left before activity started in the lair. Aside from the risk of getting caught, it was starting to feel too much like a relationship. The longer this went on, the more it was going to hurt when it ended … and it was going to end. That was the only thing that was certain.

There was only one thing to do about it. It would entail guarding her heart before this went too far. Before it was too late.

“You look upset,” Breeze said as she moved a sleeping Gem into her lap.

Louise shook her head. “Not at all! There is a lot of pressure on me to make this program work. To find a solution to your silver allergy. It gets to me sometimes.” It wasn’t a total lie, she did feel pressured and driven.

“I need to get going. You should go and nap anyway,” she continued.

Breeze gave a nod. “I could do with a rest.” Her friend reached out and clutched her arm. “Are you sure you’re okay?” she frowned as she spoke.

Louise nodded. “Absolutely.” A bald-faced lie.

  “Sure sure?”

“Yeah definitely.” She wasn’t okay … far from it. Her wayward emotions added confirmation that she had made the right decision. She was going to stick to her guns. She had to.

Volcano leaned forward. “What’s going on?”

Granite frowned. “What do you mean?”

“I don’t know, you’re too relaxed. You’re too calm, too …” He looked thoughtful for a moment. “I don’t know, too happy. Yeah, that’s it. Not that you were unhappy before. You just weren’t this content. This happy.”
