Heat of Passion

  Everyone shared a smile.

Geoffrey glanced conspicuously over his shoulder and dropped his voice to a whisper. “Robyn, if you don’t mind me asking, how much was the diamond worth? A million? Five million? Ten million?”

“Let’s just say it was enough to make a significant donation to the Dunham Foundation and establish the Jonah Grady Scholarship at Merriweather Academy,” Robyn said, feeling as if she was going to burst with pride. Kim and Gabby were beaming, too, and she knew her friends were as excited as she was. “Merriweather Academy had an enormous impact on my life, and if I hadn’t won that scholarship, I never would have met my besties or my boo.”

Everyone chuckled, and Robyn exploded into giggles when Sean nipped her earlobe.

“That’s right, baby, I’m your boo, and you’re stuck with me for life.”

“I love the sound of that.”

“And I love you.” He kissed her then, slowly and thoughtfully. “You’re the best thing that’s ever happened to me, and I’ll never take you or our love for granted.”

He’d changed her way of thinking and proved he could be trusted with her heart. She’d come alive since they’d started dating and thrived on knowing she had his unconditional love and support, and as he whispered sweet nothings in her ear, she melted into his warm embrace.

Robyn glanced at her best friends and noted how beautiful they looked, how in love.

Kim’s face was alight with happiness, and Gabby’s eyes were so bright they could outshine the stars. They’d all found their soul mates, their true loves.

“I’d like to make a toast.” Geoffrey grabbed the bottle of Cristal champagne in the ice bucket, popped it open and filled six glasses to the brim. “Here’s to love, happiness and prosperity!”

The couples clinked glasses and drank their champagne.

Robyn and Sean spent the rest of the night outside with their friends, dancing in the light of the moon. And when Sean curled his arms around her waist and gave her a slow, sensuous kiss on the lips, Robyn knew all of her hopes and dreams had finally come true.
