The way he spoke the last words told her they meant a great deal more than he actually said.

She looked at him with adoring eyes.

Then she let him lead her along the deck and down below.

They went into their cabin and closed the door and he took her in his arms.

“The last cloud has been swept away,” he said, “and if I ever see you looking frightened again, I shall be very angry!”

“How could I be really frightened of anything now that you and Papa are safe?” Aloya asked. “Oh, darling – darling Craig, will you promise me whatever Papa wants to do in the future, you will stay with me? I don’t think after all we have been through that I could think of you in – danger and not – want to – die.”

  Craig did not answer.

He only took her in his arms and kissed her.

Then, as he felt her lips soft beneath his and, as he felt the fire that burnt within him evoke a flame within her, he lifted her in his arms and laid her down on the bed.

Then he was kissing her demandingly, passionately, fiercely and the flames leapt higher and higher.

As they were carried up together into the sky, they knew that the Divine fire of love burnt away not only fear but evil too.

Now ahead of them was a happiness in which there was no fear, no danger, but only the ecstasy, the perfection and the glory of love.
