Tanja: That’s right. It’s my prerogative to complain about anything I want.
Joe rolls his eyes and leans back in the chair, crossing his arms over his chest. One doesn’t need to be a master of body language to see where the interview is headed.
Mary: So that was when the two of you decided to start the agency?
Tanja: Not exactly. I was still working with the Bureau, but Joe didn’t like that. He said it was dangerous, and he didn’t like me being gone for days or weeks at a stretch.
Joe: There’s no point getting married if you’re going to be apart all the time. Besides, she was pregnant…

Mary: You mean police work?
Tanja: Yes, the sheriff had a number of cold cases that he wanted us to investigate. He agreed to pay us out of a special fund for consultants, but only if we could solve the cases.
Mary: That sounds like you were under a lot of pressure. Did you have any luck?
Tanja: Thankfully, yes. In fact, we just closed one of the cases.
Mary: Fascinating. Would you care to tell me about it?
Tanja: (smiles and gets a distant look in her eyes) It was a sunny January morning, and I had just started a pot of coffee when I heard the doorbell ring…
