  “You know that as soon as Crystal hit eighteen, every lion in sight started sniffing around,” Betty chuckled. “It looked like your father almost had to fend some of them off with a stick too.”

  “It won’t be long before one of them manages to stake his claim,” Ted agreed as he headed for the bed.

  “Stop right there, mister,” Betty scolded. “I still need your pants.”

  Ted carefully took off the white silk pants and set them in her hand. This had the added benefit of leaving him in nothing but boxer briefs—a fact which left Betty well pleased, to say the least. Still, she didn’t hurry as she neatly stored his outfit onto a hanger as well.

  He was already lying on the pillows, hands under his head as he watched her take off her bra and then find her nightgown, sliding it on over her head as she stepped in the general direction of the smallish bed. Ted’s giggle alerted her to a slight deviation which she instantly corrected along the way.

  “You are so beautiful when you’re blind,” Ted told her as he reached up and dragged her down on top of him, yanking down the hole at the top over her head in one deft movement but failing to bring the fabric down over her breasts and body. He didn’t let her do it either, capturing her hands over her head instead.

  “Hey, what’s the point of trying to put the thing on if you’re not going to do it right?” she grumbled.

  “I like it better like this,” he grinned as he moved above her. He bent down and took one nipple into his mouth, making her moan when he swirled his eager tongue all around it. He switched to the other one and did the same.

  “Are you trying to entice me, sir?” asked Betty as if they were fencing. “I’ll have you know I’m quite able to give as good as I get.”

  “Ah, fair maid, of this I am amply aware,” he replied.

  “Ample you may be,” she chuckled as she began to pet his cock through the underwear, “but I’m not quite as certain of the awareness.”

  “What is that supposed to mean?” he smirked.

  “I didn’t get my period yet,” she pointed out. “It was meant to be two weeks ago, and you never even said a word about it.”

  “I was waiting for you to notice,” he laughed, leaning forward to kiss her delightedly. “I think we will have a boy this time, but I don’t have a clue what to call him.”

  “What about Raven?” asked Betty. “Given the importance of that particular person, who brought the two of us together and who even now is coddling our child. Whether it’s a boy or a girl, don’t you think?”

  “Excellent idea,” he agreed. “But right now, I think we can find something more interesting to talk about than an event that’s not going to happen for over half a year, don’t you?”

  “Yeah, baby, I think so too,” she agreed, pulling him down for a much more passionate kiss than the one they’d shared before.

  “Woman, I love you so much,” Ted told her, and Betty smiled happily as their forehead came together. “You’ve made my life whole.”

  “You, too,” she whispered, looking deeply into his eyes. “Always and forever.”

  She felt him moving his lower body and then realized he must have taken his cock out of the underwear through the hole in the front. The next thing she knew, he plunged deep inside of her, and his loving look took on a look of hunger instead.

  Passion seeped hotly into Betty’s system as she quickly warmed to his touch. She neatly folded her legs around him, all the way up on the tops of his hips. She had discovered that placement helped him to enter deeper still, and now it was one of her favorite ways. Plus, it was much easier to clamp him tighter to her from there if the need should arise.

  And it was most definitely arising now. Ted groaned appreciatively and began to thrust harder and faster when she did that, and his heart suddenly sped up as well, prompting hers to do the same. Fast and hot, they pounded together until they finally came blissfully together, then fell tiredly onto the bed, ready to cuddle as they drifted off to sleep.

  Fourteen-year-old Teddi gave her brother Raven an excited hug as the pair of them got ready to head out for the celebration. Tonight, she was going to be a part of the ceremony marking the beginning of her adulthood, so she was dressed in a feather gown. With her black hair swept up into a neat chignon on her head, and the two or three spiraling curls left out to the sides, she really looked gorgeously cute, and Raven was not remiss in telling her so.

  “You’ll have those boys eating out of the palm of your hand,” he teased her. “Just make sure that’s all their eating though, right?”

  “Of course,” she laughed. “I’m not going to start chasing any boys before my time. It would just be a waste of time to do that, since I’m a princess, don’t you think? I mean, I doubt that Dad is going to just let me marry any guy I want, you know?”

  “I’m not sure,” he shrugged. “I mean, Grandpa did let Crystal choose whoever she wanted from among the men, didn’t he?”

  “Uncle Nero?” Teddi chuckled, rolling her eyes. “I’ve always wondered what she saw in him after we keep hearing the story of how he tried to kidnap her before. I sure wouldn’t mate with some guy who wanted to do that to me!”

  “I bet you would too, if he was the one for you,” Raven insisted. “She told me that she fell in love with him that day, even if it was a stupid thing to do.”

  “She said it was a stupid thing to do?” Teddi gasped.

  “No, silly, I’m the one that added that part,” he grumbled. “Now come on, we don’t want to keep everybody waiting.”

  When the two of them came down the stairs and into the cave, all eyes riveted to the beautiful, dark princess on the arm of her brother. Someone began to clap, and the throng of about four hundred people all joined in, making Teddi smile. She joined a group of twelve teens who were all fourteen, and together they all proceeded to the front of the cavern, where a small stage was now erected for such activities to take place.

  Raven, as in the demi-goddess bird-woman who lived among them now as a medicine woman, was standing there already. She gave each person an embrace, saving the last for Teddi. Smiling, she remained near her afterwards and the two decided to talk.

  “I am so proud to see you up here today, my dear,” she told her. “And, now that you are matured enough for this, I have something I’ve been holding onto just for you.”

  “For me?” she gasped. “Whatever could it be?”

  Raven pulled out a small golden amulet in the shape of a lion on the top, and a bear on the bottom, but with wings. She said, “On the night of the blending, a small piece of the gold in which I had been trapped was left behind, sort of a memory I suppose. I didn’t shape it that way, it did that all by itself. Holding it in my hand that night, I realized that it surely must belong to you. You’re the very first baby who was born after the king and queen united, and also one day you could very well become a queen yourself, for all we know. So I just knew I must save it for you. I’ve placed it on a small chain so you can wear it about like an amulet. Here’s hoping that it will bring you very good luck.”

  “Thank you, Raven,” she smiled, slipping the necklace over her neck. Not long after this, a young man a few years older than her whom she had secretly been crushing on asked her for the first dance, and she happily accepted.

  “I remember my ceremony night like it was yesterday,” he said with a smile. “I think you were only ten that year, Teddi, but really smart. I would have danced with you that night if I could have.”

  “Oh, come on, Dixon, there were lots of pretty girls to dance with that night,” she scoffed. “I saw you dance with four.”

  “Yeah, I danced with them,” he said with a shrug. “But not one of them is half as pretty as you. Especially not the way you look tonight. I’ve got special news for you as well.”

  “What is it?” she asked curiously.

  “I’m going to be on the team of trainers this year,” he smiled. “I’ll
get to show you how to hunt. Are you ready to go whaling this year? It’s pretty exciting.”

  Betty came over to get Teddi once the dance was done, and she smiled warmly at Dixon when she arrived. “Dixon, would you like to eat with us too?”

  “Would I?” he gasped. “Do ravens have wings?”

  “Not always,” Teddi teased.

  “Don’t say that, silly,” he said. “We always have wings in our hearts. Wings of joy, happiness, family, hope—love. Always.”

  They went to the royal table together and arranged themselves around it, with Dixon sitting next to Teddi, and her brother Raven on his other side.

  “How did I know I’d be seeing you over here tonight?” asked Raven with a smirk.

  “You’re the only one who did,” Dixon laughed. “I was afraid I’d have to keep watching her from afar.”

  “Oh, isn’t that sweet,” Betty said as she squeezed Ted’s hand. “They’re so cute together, too. Don’t you think so.”

  “I think you might be embarrassing them,” Ted pointed out. “It’s not like they could formally date anytime soon.”

  “No, not quite yet, sir,” Dixon agreed. “But if you’ll let me someday, I’d definitely be there with bells on.”

  “Can we not talk about this right now?” Teddi complained. “I just want to enjoy the night, not plan out my entire future, as wonderful as it might sound, while I’m only just now old enough to give it any thought at all. I need to concentrate on training, and being ready for that whale hunt, not on anything beyond that. I’d just as soon be able to survive that first.”

  Smiling, Ted replied, “Something tells me that Dixon would never allow any harm to befall you on the hunt, sweetheart. I believe I’ll be able to count on him to keep you very safe indeed.”

  “Yes, sir,” he agreed.

  “Okay, you two, just exactly how long have you been planning this out?” Betty wanted to know. “I can tell you’ve talked before.”

  “And why can’t I have a favorite choice, when it’s obvious she favors him as well?” Ted wanted to know. “He comes from a good family, he’s well educated, and let’s face it, he’s handsome too. I would be proud to welcome him someday as my son.”

  On the celebration of her eighteenth birthday, Teddi received her first kiss, and an engagement ring, from none other than her sweetheart, Dixon. That night she laid in her bed remembering their firsts. The whale hunt, the trip down to the south where they were able to hunt in the woods for game. Her first trip into Anchorage, and walking together under the arches.

  They were married during the celebration, with one Raven standing up for Teddi, and the other standing up for Dixon as well. Betty and Ted were completely excited by it all, and that night they held each other close as they talked about their futures.

  “It’s been a really great few years, Betty,” said Ted with a grin. “I never expected to ever be this happy, coming here. I’m so glad I didn’t refuse, and keep right on fishing, all those years ago.”

  “You never would have refused,” Betty scoffed. “Family is much too important to you for that. Especially now that they’re blended together thanks to you.”

  “Not just me, you know,” he insisted. “I think you may have had a hand in it too.”

  “So, how long do you think it will take for us to become grandparents?” Betty smirked then.

  “Not too long,” Ted chuckled. “After all, your daughter is just as beautiful as you.”

  “Oh, I see,” she laughed. “So ‘twas beauty that tamed the beast?”

  “Who said anything about tame?” he grumbled. “I’ll give you something to tame, wife of mine.”

  “What a purrfectly wonderful idea,” she replied. And that was exactly what she did.
