She and Link both wore matching looks of surprise. Then, Mrs. Easton pulled out a pass, filled it in, and held it out to Link. “Here, Mr. Devaux. Go on back to class.”
He put a supportive hand on my shoulder. “Do you want me to go with you?” His voice was barely audible.
I shook my head. “No. I need to do this on my own.”
And I did.
