Mia couldn’t control herself. She threw a hand at Blaine. She slapped him across the face and then brought a knee up and hit him in the balls. He groaned and took a step back.

That was Mia’s small chance to try and run. But she didn’t. She froze, shocked that she actually just tried attacking a biker. Of all bikers, one of the guys in Back Down Devil MC.

Blaine was right back at her though, and he was smiling. His body pressed against hers. “Hey, pretty thing, I love a woman who can hit hard. Do it again. You’re making my cock throb.”

“Fuck, Blaine,” the other biker said. He reached out and pulled Blaine off Mia. “Get back for a second.”

  “Thank you,” Mia said.

“Shut up,” the biker said. He pointed the gun to her head. “Were you fucking following us?”

  Mia went tight lipped.

“Just take her, Nate,” Blaine said. “Don’t fuck with it. She knows something.”

  Nate.

  Mia had a name now.

Nate towered over her. His body huge, too close for comfort. Mia shouldn’t have felt so warmed up right now. Her heart pounded in her chest and she wasn’t sure if it was from the gun at her head or the man holding it to her head.

  “Nate,” Mia whispered. “Please, listen…”

  “What’s your fucking name?”

  “Mia.”

  “Mia,” Nate growled.

He’s even hotter when he says my name.

“You know Chief Jerry?” Nate asked.

  “Who?”

  “Don’t fucking lie to me.”

“I swear, I’m not. Look, I’m sorry.” Mia slowly reached back and grabbed the handle of the car door. In her mind, this could work. The car was still running. Just get inside and take off. She should have never gotten out of the car. That was a bad mistake.

  “Why were you following us?”

“I was just going back into town. That’s all.”

“You followed us up here and turned with us.”

“I’m lost,” Mia said. Which is true.

  “Fuck her,” Blaine said.

Mia made her move. She pushed herself at Nate, feeling his rock hard body against hers for a second. She then pulled at the door handle and opened the car door. She spun around and lifted her right foot. In that moment, she saw this working. Get into the car and get the hell out of there. Even if it meant knocking down Back Down Devil bikers’ bikes, oh fucking well. Then she’d tell Uncle Jake to go fuck himself and she’d be gone for good this time.

But before her right foot could even touch the car, an arm went around her.

Nate pulled her close and backed up, taking her away from the car.

  “Fuck,” she groaned.

“Fuck it right,” Nate growled. “Trying to escape?”

“I want to leave. I didn’t do anything wrong.”

Nate turned, Mia with him. She tried to go limp, but that was useless. Nate was too strong. He just lifted her with one arm tight around her chest. His forearm pressed hard against her breasts. The movement shouldn’t have turned her on but it did.

  A lot.

Mia swallowed hard, reminding herself that she was probably going to end up dead.

“Blaine, get the keys,” Nate said. “Right now.”

Mia listened to the sound of the car shutting off. Then the door slamming. Then her keys jingling.

Blaine dangled the keys in front of Mia’s face, grinning. “You’re fucked, pretty thing.” Blaine then pointed to the black keychain with the purple diamond logo on it. “Holy shit, Nate. Look at this.”

  “What?” Nate asked.

“She works at a strip club. I know this place. I’ve been there.” Blaine stepped closer to Mia. He touched her face. “Do I know…” His eyes looked down. “Nate, lift her shirt. Let me see her tits.”

“No,” Nate yelled. “No.” Nate turned, Mia with him. “Get on your ride, Blaine. We’re leaving.”

  “Please… I swear…”

“Yeah, you fucking swear,” Nate said.

He let Mia go and spun her around, putting her back up against her car.

She stared at him, telling herself to get angry. To fight back. Not to look into his gorgeous eyes and want his body against hers, but to realize the true danger she was in. This was a complete disaster. Even if she got away from these guys, she would have to face Uncle Jake.

Mia slowly put her hands up. “Look, I’m not doing anything wrong. I’m just…”

“Shut up and listen to me. If you were a guy, you’d be fucking dead already. But I want to know why a woman is following me. You work at a strip club?”

  “Yes.”

  “Do you strip?”

  “That’s not your business.”

“It will be. Here’s the deal. We’re leaving your car here. You’re getting on the back of my ride. If you try to jump, run away, scream, anything… I’ll kill you. Understand?”

Mia’s heart was racing faster than ever. Her knees started to get wobbly. “Okay.”

“When we get to the compound, it’s going to be nasty. I can fend everyone off of you. Right now, Mia, I’m your best friend. And in return for keeping you safe - for now - you’re going to tell me the truth. If you don’t, nobody will ever see you again. Understand that?”

Mia accepted the words for what they were worth. Her life had been threatened many times, but this was real. Sexy or not, Nate was real. There was blood on his hands, death on his soul, he wasn’t just fucking around.

Everything started to spin for Mia. It felt like her head was rolling round and round. She stepped forward and fell into Nate. She felt the hardness of his chest and then it was all darkness. All blackness. All gone.

I’m dead. I died. It’s over. No more pain, worry. No more money problems. I didn’t have to take a bullet. I bet that would have really hurt…

  “Hey! Mia!”

Mia felt her eyes flutter for a second. She opened them and saw Nate looking down at her. She was on the ground now. But Nate wasn’t wearing his leather cut. Just a black t-shirt that hugged all the right places. Mia turned her head and realized Nate had rolled up his leather cut and put it behind her head.

Nate touched her cheek. “Hey, are you okay?”

“Christ, bro, are you going to make out with her?” Blaine called out.

Nate looked back. “Fuck off. If she needs a hospital…”

“Just leave her,” Blaine said. “Let her learn her goddamn lesson.”

“Shut up, man.” Nate looked at Mia. “You need to stand up. Remember, I’m your only fucking friend right now.”

Nate stood. He offered a hand and Mia took it. He pulled and she sat up. Almost eye level with Nate’s… package… looking at a skull belt buckle.

  “Come on,” he ordered.

He pulled again and Mia climbed to her feet. She was still a little weak and took advantage of Nate’s wild body and leaned into him. He quickly grabbed her by the shoulders and kept her at arm’s length. He stared like he had something to say. Instead, he reached down and grabbed his leather cut and put it back on.

  “On the motorcycle, right now.”

  Mia nodded.

Nate gave her his helmet and grinned. “Don’t want you spilling your brains on the road, babe.”

For a second Mia took that as a flirty comment.

Then Nate added, “We’d rather spill your brains ourselves. If you don’t listen…”

He then fired up his motorcycle and took off.

Mia jerked back and hurried to grab Nate and hang on tight.

She looked back at her car, seeing it grow smaller in the distance. The only thing she had on her was her cell phone.

And now she was taken by Nate… by Back Down Devil MC.

  six.

  Jesus Christ, she’s fucking beautiful.

The worst thought to have when approaching an enemy. If she was an enemy. Was there a chance she had been telling the truth and was just cruising up and down Frelen? Yeah, fu
ck that. She was blatantly following them and Nate needed to find out why. It didn’t matter that she had curly auburn hair or her eyes were a bright shade of brown. That her figure was simply to die for. The way her shirt pulled tight around the mounds of her breasts. How she didn’t show skin to look attractive, she was just naturally beautiful. And then jeans with tears in them.

  Fuck. Stop this.

It was a huge risk bringing her back to the clubhouse like this. There was a good chance Miller would string her up by chains and just kill her. Or some of the guys - like fucking Blaine - would want to have their way with her.

But if she was an enemy…she’d have to be killed. There was no way around it.

Blaine rode behind Nate, just in case Mia did try to do something stupid. If she jumped off, she’d be dead. One way or another. Whatever the hell pulled her into this situation…

As they approached the center of Frelen, something caught Nate’s attention. He could see a little bit up the road there were three Coast Road MC motorcycles cruising out of Frelen. He saw their wide backs and stupid logos. It made him grip the handlebars tighter. Coast Road MC felt comfortable enough to just do what they wanted in and out of Frelen. And why not? They had the backing, didn’t they? If Chief Jerry and that fucking judge were keeping Coast Road MC under their wings, they just floated around. Dealing drugs. Moving drugs.

“Christ,” Nate growled under his breath.

He made the turn to get into the compound. Two prospects were there to quickly shut the gates. They then stood there, holding rifles like it was some kind of military base about to be under attack.

Miller stood on a table, barking orders at a bunch of the guys. Gaige sat on the table, looking around. Blaine darted ahead and parked his ride first. Nate felt Mia clutching his shirt tighter than ever.

He slowly walked the motorcycle backward and turned it off. He hit the kickstand, leaned the motorcycle, and then gave Mia a chance to get off. She did, but kept on hand at his shirt, holding.

When Nate looked at her, he gritted his teeth.

She was scared shitless. Whatever was going on was not her fault at all. She was tied into this against her own will. And now she was in the compound against her own will. Some people say when it rains, it pours. Nate believed something more simple; fuck that, get out of the rain.

Nate stood and slid his hand to Mia’s back. He tightened his hand to her shirt. He looked down and his eyes went to her tits. Her shirt was up enough to barely show something good, but was all there. The shirt was tight, her body was tight, and it was fucking killing Nate.

“You stay with me,” he ordered her. “Or else you’ll end up dead.”

“Okay,” Mia said. “I don’t know what you want from me.”

“Answers,” Nate growled. “And there’s only one way to get the truth.”

Nate felt Mia way too close to him.

  She’s the enemy. Fuck her.

Nate looked up and saw Blaine pointing.

“Oh, fuck,” Nate said. “Be ready, babe.”

  “Ready…”

Miller dove off the table. He pushed by Erik and Jace, sending them flying back. Blaine walked alongside him, Griffin trying to keep up. The second Nate met eyes with Miller, it was on.

Fire, anger, everything Nate wanted the club to feel about the situation. But he also felt a little remorse that Mia was going to be on the opposite end of it all.

“They’re going to kill me,” she said.

  Her voice cracked a little.

“Not unless you listen to me,” Nate said.

He couldn’t believe he was actually considering defending this woman. She didn’t deserve shit right now. But a beautiful woman with a confused face…

Nate stepped forward and put a fist out. “Miller…”

“No,” Miller growled. “I want that bitch strung up right now. She was trailing you for a reason. Coast Road was just riding by here, on purpose, to fuck with us. They want a war? I’ll give them a fucking massacre.”

Nate wiggled away from Mia and stood his ground. “You have to listen to me…”

Miller bumped into Nate. It was like two boulders colliding. Gritting his teeth, Nate backed down, out of respect for the patch.

  “I’m working…”

He tried to say something to Miller, but it was no use.

Mia hurried to back up from the biker barreling at her. Nate watched with annoyed and helpless eyes. She wasn’t going to get away, and fighting would only make things worse.

Mia hit the railing behind her. She threw her hands out and gripped the railing.

Miller was stopping though. He grabbed her by the mouth and pushed, sending her up and over the railing.

  “Christ!” Nate yelled.

He lunged forward and Blaine grabbed him. “Bro, easy…”

Nate threw an elbow and hit Blaine in the jaw. He flew back and grabbed his face.

  “Fuck, Miller!” Nate yelled.

Mia let out a weak scream. She had a white knuckle grip on the railing. Miller had a hand on her leg, his other hand on her jaw. She was upside down, her auburn hair dangling.

“You’re going to fucking spill everything,” Miller growled.

“Miller, I have her,” Nate said.

Miller looked back. He then stepped back and brought Mia back to her feet. Her hair was messy, her face red and flushed. Her eyes were wide, filled with tears.

“This isn’t a joke,” Miller said. “I’m going to ask once. You lie and you’re done.”

Mia nodded. “Okay.” Her eyes strained to look at Nate. He could only nod back to her.

“Were you trailing my guys?” Miller asked.

There were a few seconds of hesitation and then Mia said, “Yes.”

  “Fuck,” Nate said.

“I knew it,” Blaine said. “She’s working for someone.”

“Are you working for Coast Road MC?” Miller asked.

“I don’t know what that means,” Mia said.

Miller pulled her close. They were nose to nose. Nate felt a ping of jealousy go through his body and he jumped forward, grabbing Miller’s shoulder. It was a risky move.

When Miller turned, Nate figured he was going to get hit.

  But Miller just stared.

“I know,” Nate said. “But we can’t kill her right now. Or hurt her. Or really scare her. Right? She’ll hole up on us.”

Miller let out a growl. He took his hand from Mia’s face. Her eyes didn’t leave Nate’s. “I want a meeting right now. Everyone at the table. Full house.”

“You got it, boss,” Blaine said.

“Everyone, inside!” Gaige boomed and then whistled.

“I want prospects at the gates,” Miller said. “Except to watch the bitch.”

It made Nate cringe to hear Miller call Mia a bitch. Yet, Nate knew nothing of her.

“And you, Nate, are going to take her underground. Keep her there until we meet and decide how to take care of her.”

“You can’t kill me!” Mia cried out. “They’ll find my car. They’ll look for me.”

Miller looked at Mia again. “You think this is a fucking game? I’ll have your car moved and burned before anyone gives a shit you’re missing. And by the time someone does give a shit, you’ll be nothing but a pile of bones in a hole.”

Mia looked down, defeated. Miller hovered over her. His hands were in tight fists. He wanted to lose his mind. Again, Mia was lucky she was a woman. And goddamn to whoever put her up to this.

“Come on,” Nate said. He moved by Miller and clamped a hand down on Mia’s wrist. “Fucking move right now.”

Nate pulled Mia close but not too close. Miller finally turned and charged away. He pointed and started yelling at two prospects to get the chains and the guns ready.

  “I didn’t do…”

“Shut up,” Nate spat at Mia. “You don’t fucking talk to Miller like that. Or any one of us like that. Christ. Miller is the goddamn President.”

“I don’t follow any of it.”

“Then why the fuck were you tailing us?”

Mia’s face turned to stone. Of course it did. She was going to be the tightlipped criminal, right?

Nate shook his head. “The longer you wait, the worse it’ll get. Now move.”

Nate didn’t mind being rough with Mia. He had to remind himself that she was exactly the kind of bitch Miller warned the guys about. It had been a wonder the club wasn’t fucked with yet by a woman. It wouldn’t take much more than a nice pair of tits and open legs to get attention from anyone in the MC.

But Mia wasn’t that at all.

  That’s what made it confusing.

Nate had Mia’s hands behind her back, gripping her wrists with one big hand. He walked her, his other hand flirting with the front of her body, worried that she was going to trip or try and get away. Or maybe he just wanted to touch her.

The walk down the ramp to the underground garage was a shit walk. Everyone who took that walk never saw the light of day again. There had been a lot of blood spilled down there. Guys strung up and gutted. Beaten over the course of days. Real dirty stuff. But there had never been a woman down there. There had never been a need for it.

  Until now.

Nate shook his head as he punched in the code to open the garage. The old metal made a grinding sound and the concrete ground gently rumbled. Once opened, Nate pushed Mia, fucking with her as she stumbled forward and then he pulled her back hard, letting her crash into his chest.

Fuck, he could lead her on right now. Tell her that if she fucked him or sucked him off he’d let her go. Blaine would do it. Blaine would have already done it by now. Hell, any of the guys would do it.

Nate looked over his shoulder and felt that jealous ping again.

What if one of the guys did that to her? Came down and sat next to her. Made false promises so they could get their dick sucked.

  “Fuck,” Nate growled.

  “What’s wrong?” Mia asked.

  Nate didn’t respond.

He couldn’t let that happen to Mia. Even if she was a bitch.

He opened the second door and pushed, letting her go. She flew forward and went down to her knees.Nate resisted helping her and stood there, arms crossed.
