As she came down from the climax, he reached in the bedside drawer and located a condom. He opened it and slid the protection down his long, thick length. The excitement returned, and she couldn’t wait to discover what it felt like with him inside her. He lowered his hips between her thighs, and her arms came around him. With one steady, gentle push he eased into her. The heat and hardness opened her, spreading her deep and wide. He went slowly and it made her crazy. She was tight around him, and the pressure and fullness made her groan.

  Oh. My. God.

It was heaven and then some. She could feel herself tightening and releasing over that thick length, and when he bottomed out, she wriggled her hips.

He gasped. “Oh, man. You keep doing that, sweetheart, I’m not going to last.”

She threw her legs around him, never wanting to let him go. He drew back so slowly, and she grasped at his shoulders, at his biceps, lifting her hips in urgency. He plunged back in and it was her turn to gasp. Then he started a small thrust and retreat, teasing a spot high up inside her, stroking over one spot that made her crazy with pleasure. She’d been primed for so long that the climax came at her in a rush, and she lifted into him and screamed as her orgasm crashed through her. She panted, shivering, as he stopped, holding deep inside her.

“That’s it sweetheart,” he whispered into her ear. “That’s it.”

After that, he didn’t talk, and she was caught up in the increasing rhythm as he thrust harder inside her. Each stroke took her higher. She lifted into his thrusts. Again and again, he pumped until she was moaning continuously and she came apart under him, climaxing so hard she practically saw stars, crying out. He continued, his thrusts picking up strength until finally he let go with a shout and came. He quaked in her arms as he groaned and finally eased down on top of her. He rolled to the side and took her with him, holding her tight. He kissed her forehead, her checks, her lips. Tears rolled down her face at the beauty of what they’d experienced.

“Hey,” he said softly. “Why are you crying?”

“That was the most incredible thing I’ve ever experienced.”

  “For me, too.”

They lay there, exhausted and panting before he pulled out of her arms and went to the bathroom to clean up. He returned and they climbed into bed and slept like babies the whole night through. When they woke up in the morning, they made love again, this time with a fierceness that shook her to the soul. There was no doubt in her mind she would be with this man forever.

  Epilogue

  One year later

Greg sprawled in a lawn chair in his backyard under the fading sun and watched Jenny talking with Lexi and Dane. The sounds of the party went on all around him as he drank a beer. Music played, the grill was manned by a guy from Station 58. Jax and Skye stood to the side talking with other firefighters and friends who’d gathered for this special evening. Now was the time to thank all his friends for being here and helping them celebrate. Not long after the hospital hostage situation, he’d moved in with Jenny. They’d built a life in her home, and he loved it and he loved her with everything in his being. She was the best thing that ever happened to him. He’d sold his father’s land. Jenny had moved up to head of public relations at the hospital after Donna left the department. He couldn’t want for a more fulfilling life.

Carrying his beer, he left the lawn chair and went over to Lexi, Dane and Jenny.

“Can I steal this lady?” he said as he took Jenny’s hand.

Jenny smiled up at him, and he wanted to steal her away for real, find the bedroom and make love to her all night long.

“Anytime,” she said back, her teasing smile assuring him she knew what he was thinking. She didn’t relinquish her glass of wine as she followed him.

He drew her toward the middle of the yard, and their friends gathered close. Everyone was smiles and laughs.

Jenny loved how Greg held her hand, and when his arm slipped around her shoulders, she absorbed his warmth. Happiness glowed inside her. She couldn’t wait to marry him tomorrow.

“I want to thank you all for being here tonight to help us celebrate,” Greg said. “Tomorrow is going to be the happiest day of my life.”

“Yes, thank you everyone,” Jenny said. “Thank you for being here.”

Greg leaned in to kiss her forehead and a variety of whistles and approval noises went up in the crowd and made everyone laugh.

“Please lift your glasses as I make this toast to my bride-to-be,” Greg said.

Everyone lifted their glasses. The sparkle of Jenny’s diamond engagement ring on her left hand caught her eye. A rush of happiness filled her.

“To the woman I love with all my heart. To the best thing that ever happened to me,” Greg said.

  Claps and cheers went up.

Happy tears filled her eyes, and as everyone let out a chorus of agreement, he leaned down to kiss her once more.
