Hometown Christmas

“Yes!” Kat yelled, startling the puppy and making him bark.
Ford smiled. “You didn’t let me finish.”
“You don’t have to. Yes. The answer will always be yes.”
Kat thrust her hand toward Ford and watched as he slipped the ring onto her finger. He curled his hand around hers and leaned forward, pressing a light kiss to her lips.
“If your family wasn’t going to be here any minute now, I’d show you how happy I am.”
Kat laughed at Ford’s words, her gaze dropping to his crotch. She could just barely make out the bulge of his erection. She looked back at him. “Guess you’ll have to hold on to those thoughts because I think I hear them outside now.”
Ford kissed her once more. “I think I can do that.”
After standing, Kat cuddled Haven in her arms and couldn’t resist kissing him again. “You know, you’ll have a lot to live up to next year.”
Ford shook his head. “I know. I’ll figure it out.”
Kat smiled and turned to greet her family, holding her left hand out. “Guess who got the best Christmas present!”
As she hugged everyone and accepted congratulations, she realized that this was the life she’d been holding out for all those years. She couldn’t imagine anything other than what she had right then.
It was perfect.

Acknowledgments
I’m so thankful to so many people, especially with this book. I got a wild idea that I wanted to do a Christmas novel this year and decided this at the end of October. Insanity, let me tell you. Note: do not decide to write a book a month before you want to put it out. it just doesn’t work.
I owe a huge thanks to my friend Missy. When I doubted myself with this book, she was there to talk me from the ledge of abandonment with this story and I think she helped to make it stronger in the long run.
My editor is also pretty great because she was able to squeeze me in and get this read quickly so I could get it out. You the real MVP.
