by Jaime Russell

“Lace, I get off at 8 so I’ll be there by 8:30; you better be doing what I told you.” I hang up the phone before she could answer. I look at the clock to see that its 6:30 and I hope the next hour and a half goes fast but not busy. I get up and adjust my semi hard cock because Lacy knows how to turn me on and get me excited. I wish the scrubs would do a better job at hiding the effect Lacy has on me.

It’s a little after 8 and I’m racing to my car. “Call Reagan”

  “Hello?”

  “Reagan, hi it's Jensen.”

“Hey! Are you on your way?”

“No, I was wondering if you could keep the kids a little longer. A friend of mine is sick and called me to check on her. Would that be okay?” I hear Reagan laugh.

“A friend huh? Good job Jana!” I hear Jana in the background yell that she won. “Sure, the party doesn't end until 10:30. If you need me to keep them, I can.”

“Do you think less of me?” Reagan’s opinion matters to me. I hear her tell Cash that she’ll be right back. I hear a door close in the background and silence.

“Jensen, what do you want me to say? How dare you go have sex with someone while your kids are at a party?” Reagan laughs, “I’m glad that you found someone to spend time with, you are a man with needs.”

“Thank you. I promise to take Jonathan a weekend for you so you can have time with Max.”

“That would be great but we work things out especially with Sarah living with us. Oh, I need to go. Bennett and Jonathan are looking for me. I need get them away from the snacks. My offer to have them stay is open. Let me know.”

“Thanks Reagan, I’m going to take you up on that offer. Good night.”

I hang up with her and pull up in front of Lacy’s apartment. I get out of the car and run up the steps to her apartment. I knock on the door, and I hear shuffling. The door opens and there stands Lacy, in all her nakedness.

“Wow, trick or treat to me!” I kiss her as I close the door. “Have you been a good girl tonight and listened to doctor’s orders?” Lacy nods and crawl onto the bed. Lacy has her ass in the air and I can see that pussy glistening. I crawl behind and I tell her to lean over the couch so that ass of hers is in eye level with my tongue. I don’t waste any time licking it and lapping up the juices. “Rub your clit,” I say in between in the licking.

I undo my belt quickly and I don’t even bother taking my pants off and just free my cock. I slide the condom on my hard-throbbing cock and slam into her without letting her know. I like catching her by surprise. I pound into her and feel her squeezing my cock; like a vice grip and she had me so horny for the last two hours that I wasn't going to last long at all. As I release my cum; I wrap my hand around her long blonde hair and tug so she knows to arch her back. I start kissing her sweaty neck. I leave my mark on her.

“Oh god, Jensen that keeps getting better and better.” Lacy kisses me as she gets up to clean herself.

“Damn girl, I’m ready to go again.” I say panting as I walk to the kitchen to dispose of my condom and grab a beer for us.

“I would love to go another round but I have a Halloween party at the campus to go to. A bunch of us are going, you want to come with me?” Lacy has been trying to get me to meet her friends and that’s a no in our agreement.

“Not this time sweets. Can I shower here?” I tend to shower there when I’m heading out afterwards and I wanted to stop by Nic’s Bar to see what was going on.

“Sure, if you don’t mind me in there with you.”

I hop in the shower to get the smell of her off of me.

“Why won’t you meet my friends?” I sigh as I peek my head out of her blue shower curtain.

“This is for fun and nothing more.”

“What if I meet someone?” Lacy whines.

“Let me know and we stop. Fuck buddies are just that. We have sex, no strings, no responsibilities and if someone wants to date, we end things.”

“Isn't that lonely?” Lacy brushes her teeth while I dry off. I think this is fastest shower I have taken in my life. I need to get away from this conversation. I have the towel wrapped around my waist.

“Lacy, it’s not for me because I’ve done the relationship, marriage and divorce. I’m not looking for anything serious.”

“Well I am, so tonight is the last night.” Lacy doesn’t even look me in the eye and that bothers me.

“It’s all good. You have my number, if you ever need a good fuck. Have fun tonight.” I kiss her cheek and walk out the door. When I open my car door, I look up to Lacy’s apartment. She’s standing in the window, wrapped in a towel, and watching me. I wave and then drive away.

I was wrong to start a three-week fuck buddy relationship with a college student. She needs to be open for more fun.

The night is young and I’m a single man for the night, thanks to Reagan. I open the door to Nic’s Bar and it’s full of women. Let the party begin.

  Thanksgiving

It’s our first official Thanksgiving with the family. I haven't spent a holiday with my parents for three or four years now. I’m on edge to tell my parents about the baby. Are they going to be mad? Are they going to disown me? Reagan and I are heading to Cash and Abby’s to help with cooking. I still can’t drive from the fall but my cast is off and I’m walking with a boot. It’s so much better with my ever-growing belly.

“You okay?” Reagan turns the music down so we can talk.

“I’m terrified. I need to tell my parents about the baby.” I rub my slowly growing baby bump. I was able to find a cute blue dress and white leggings in a shop down the street from us that has maternity clothes.

“Are you worried about the whole sex before marriage?” I know that Reagan doesn’t understand about how important this was to my family but I let them down.

“Reagan, it’s hard to explain. My Gram and mom were both virgins when they married their spouses. You don’t give yourself physically to a man until he has your heart and soul. I know it’s silly in these times of sex being front in center in everything. The connection that Doc and I had during that time was something I never imagined in this lifetime, it was like I saw my future. My body, soul, and heart were his, the minute that he kissed me.” I cover my face in embarrassment. “I sound like a lovesick teenage girl gushing about a crush.” We stop at a stop sign and there’s no one around so Reagan puts the car in park so she can turn to look at me. Reagan’s eyes are fixated on mine and she grabs my hands.

“You do not sound like a teenage girl. If this situation would have happened before I met Max, then I would call you crazy and call the padded wagon on you.” We laugh. “When I met Max for the first time, I felt this connection. When we shook hands, there was a jolt that hit both of us. When it comes to love, lust, and soul mates, anything can happen.”

“Do you believe in love at first sight?” I ask Reagan as she starts driving towards Abby’s house.

“No. I think there is lust at first sight and love can grow from that.”

“They are going to ask questions about the father. I don’t even know his real name.” I sigh looking out the window.

“Don’t let them focus on that part, and I’m right there to support you.” Reagan squeezes my hand.

  “Why are you?” I ask.

“We’re family.” Reagan laughs as she drives down the highway.

“I’ve treated you like crap from day one. I blamed you for trying to take my place in Abby’s life. Hell, we were fighting about you when her water broke.” I laugh remembering Abby’s reaction to that experience.

“I can’t tell you how to feel Sarah and it hurts me that you thought I would try to take your place in Abby’s life. I need to be honest with you. I’m jealous of you.”

  “What; why me?” I laugh.

“You have this bond with Abby and Max that I’ll never have because my sister is gone. It makes me sad to see it because I’ll never get to be that close to Abby.”

“This makes me laugh. We were both
jealous of the other person’s relationship with the same people but both know that our relationships are going to be different.”

“Funny how life works, huh?” I nod as we pull up to Abby’s house, “It’s like you and I have a bond that you and Abby don’t have because we live together, I’m with you every day with this pregnancy but I would never step in to hurt the relationship with Abby.” I cry and pull her into a hug.

“Max is damn lucky to have found you.”

“Yes, he is.” Max comes up behind me and puts me into a headlock. “But what did I do to deserve that comment?”

“Knock it off asshat. How did you get here before us?”

“We took a different way I guess. You guys okay?”

“Yeah we’re good. We had a nice talk and now I need to go face the music with my parents.”

We walk into the house and instead of laughing there was a lot of arguing going on in the kitchen. I look around the corner to see Abby, her mom and my mom standing there arguing over the ingredients.

“What's going on in here?” Max walks around us and heads in first. All three of the women start talking at once about how each one was doing it wrong. “Ladies, guess what? It's thanksgiving and we are in Abby’s house so that means she’s in charge of the kitchen.” How in the hell did he understand that conversation because I only heard about five words? “When we have a holiday at your house then it’s on for your recipes. This is her first Thanksgiving in her new home, with her family, and her son. We can give it to her, can’t we?” Max lays on the charm just like he did when he was younger and got away with murder. My mom blushes when he touches her hand.

“Oh alright, Max is right. We’ll sit here at the table in case you need us.” Maggie says as she slaps Max. “The guys are watching football.” Reagan and I head to go watch football, “Um last I check you two were not guys.”

“Shit.” Reagan says as she sighs and we turn to go sit with her future mother in law. We walk to the table and sit down. Abby looks over at me and motions for me to talk. I guess it would be best to do this with the women at first.

“Mom, I need to talk to you about something important.” I’m that eleven-year-old girl who broke her favorite vase that she got from her honeymoon in Paris. It was a one of a kind and she can’t replace it.

“Sarah, you are shaking, are you okay?” My mother asks me trying to hold my hand.

“I’m,” I take a deep breath in then out, Reagan is next to me and Abby is standing behind me, “I’m pregnant.”

“What?” My mom stands up from the table. She starts pacing the room. “Did you get married?”

“No ma’am.” I look down at my stomach.

“You had sex before marriage?” My mom’s voice shrieked a little higher than normal and I cringe.

“Lizzie, seriously?” Maggie looks at my mom with a knowing look, “You can’t hold her to that promise that she made when she was a child. I mean, we all pledged that too but didn’t stick to it.”

  “What?” My mouth hangs open.

“Maggie, butt out of this conversation.” My mom stares

“No, Aunt Maggie, don’t butt out.” I beg of her.

“Who is the father of that child?”

“Why does it matter who is the father, you’re going to be a grandmother? Shouldn’t you be excited about that?” Abby remarks as she goes back to the stove to finish cooking. Max and Cash come in and she shakes her head to let them know to stay out.

“Abigail, you were married when you got pregnant. Reagan and Max don’t have children because they are not married.”

“No, we’re not pregnant yet but marriage has nothing to do with it.” Reagan scoffs.

“Pregnancy without marriage in this family is a reason to get you shunned.” My holier than thou mom gets up on her pedestal.

“We’re not Amish, so you can’t shun me. We’re not even religious people anymore. I spent a magical time with a guy and because of that, I have this beautiful baby growing inside me. I feel her moving around. I’ve heard the heartbeat.” I grab my purse and pull out the latest sonogram. “Look, this is your granddaughter.” My mom takes the picture from my hand. She runs her fingers over it and sniffles. I think seeing the baby made it real for her.

“Beautiful. Can I see the baby bump?” I lift my dress to show her and she puts her hands on it.

“When Max, Jonathan or Reagan talks,” I start laughing, “The baby moves around so much. Jonathan, Jana and Bennett who are friends of Jonathan’s like me to lay on the couch showing my stomach as they read to it and watch the baby flutter around.”

“How did you find out?” We all sit down with tissues that Maggie put on the table and I tell them everything and I mean everything about meeting Doc the day Ethan was born. Abby likes to think it was her good luck that she was giving birth that I got pregnant. “Wow. Does daddy know?” I shake my head then drop it. “Hey look at me.” I raise my head so our eyes can meet, “We love you and nothing will change that ever. I want you to be happy and seeing you talk about this baby without ever dropping that smile from your face; gives me chills.” I hug my mom and cry on her shoulder. I’ve always wanted to hear this and truly believe it.

“Mom, why were we never this close growing up?”

“I was jealous.” My mom gets up to make a cup of tea. We all give her some time to get her composure and figure out how she wants to word this conversation.

“Aunt Lizzie, if you want privacy, you and Sarah can go up to one of the spare rooms.” Abby points towards the upstairs and she dismisses her with a wave of the hand.

“No, you all can hear this conversation.”

“I will let you guys talk, this seems more like a family thing.” Reagan stands up to leave and my mom and Maggie make no action to stop her.

“Reagan, the choice is yours. I would like you here but I understand if you are uncomfortable.” I grab Reagan’s hand as she walks past me. She nods and heads to the stove to help Abby while still offering support.

  “Well then. Where to begin?”

“Elizabeth.” Maggie sternly says her name.

“When I found out that I was pregnant, I was over the moon especially with Maggie being pregnant with Abby at the same time. We both knew that you two would be best friends like we are.” My mom and Maggie squeeze each other’s hand to show how close they still are, “Sarah, you know that the pregnancy wasn't an easy one as I had to be put on bed rest so I was going stir crazy. As we got closer, the more nervous I got about being a parent. I was envious of the fact that Maggie was enjoying her pregnancy. When I went into labor and had you, I was so depressed. Postpartum depression was something that didn’t exist in our vocabulary.” My mom sniffles as she pauses, “I gave you to grandma to take care of you until I was mentally, emotionally and physically capable.” I shake my head; did I hear my mom, right? She gave me away. “Don’t get in your head. We lived with grandma for the first two years of your life so it’s not like I wasn’t there.”

“Okay, so if you gave me to granny to raise; when did you decide to take me back?”

“When we had your second birthday party. I saw the way you were clinging to Maggie and grandma. You would call out for mommy and went to grandma all the time. It was a smack in the face to me. I carried you for nine months and you didn’t know me. I talked to your dad about it and we decided to move. It was time for me to get my head out of my ass and be your mom. I know that I let you down because I treated you like you were a leper.”

“This certainly explains a lot.” I stand up, my mom’s facial expression went from no emotion to sad. “I’ll be back. I need to pee. She is not playing nice.” I walk fast to the bathroom. I needed the break from all the emotions. I rub my belly to let the baby feel me. “I’m never going to give you away. I’m going to fail you but I promise to always let you know that I love you and want you in my life.”

I take a deep breath and head out to see what the rest of the day will be like.

&
nbsp; December

“Max, when will the construction be done in my house?” I call Max since he started the construction in my house and we are staying at my parents. It’s nice because of it being close to Christmas and the kids get a chance to do a lot of the traditions that I did growing up. When Michelle left, I never had the time to do them.

“In all honesty; probably the first part of the New Year.”

“Seriously? Maybe we should have started this after Christmas.” I pinch the bridge of my nose as I walk into the doctor’s lounge.

“I'm sorry man. I didn’t even think with the whole holiday when we agreed to it. My mind was elsewhere.”

  “Reagan okay?”

“She is great man and I know that it’s all cliché about proposing on Christmas Day but I found the perfect ring for her.”

“Congrats man. Why don’t you do the less cliché about it and propose to her anytime during this month. Is there a special day that means a lot to you guys?”

“Dude, that is perfect! Why didn’t I think of that?” I couldn't help but laugh at him and his excitement. If I could find that again, I would hope to do things differently.

“Why don’t I take Jonathan for the night when you do it? The kids will be able to do some Christmas stuff together with the folks and give you the apartment to yourself.”

“Oh, that would be great but my best friend Sarah is living with us so we won’t be alone but if you want to take Jonathan a night so the kids can hang out, that wouldn't be bad either.”

“Jana has been talking nonstop about the woman that took them all shopping.”

“That would-be Sarah. Hey I gotta go. I’m taking Sarah through the house and she has some questions. She will email you her ideas to talk over with the kids.”

“Sounds good. Let me know which night you decide and I’ll check in with my parents. I’m sure they’d love another kid to rope into with the Christmas festivities.” We talk a few more minutes and I hang up with him.

“Hello Jensen.” I take a deep breath and slowly turn around to the voice of my ex-wife. “Who were you talking to about the kids?”
