“Why? I want to have a baby with you.”
“Jade I'm hitting forty next year I’m too old to be making more babies.”
Jade started to cry “No, this isn't fair. I know you don't want to get married but at least can we have a baby. I love you Steven,”
“Jade, we can't why can't you respect my wishes.”
“Fine, maybe I'll let Andrew give me a baby, since you won't.”
“Oh that's a threat huh? You've been spending an awful lot of time with him. I'm surprised you're not pregnant yet.”
Jade rolled her eyes at him and continue to clean. She didn't really care what he thought. She wanted to have a baby and she was going to have one. Jade started to prepare dinner.
“Baby, which wine do you want for dinner?” she asked, looking in the wine cabinet.
“Red wine with my steak,” he said, flipping through the channels. He didn't even take his eyes off the TV.
She walked into the living room and stood in front of the TV. “We need to talk..not argue babe.”
“Fine,” he said, cutting off the TV.
“We've only been together for about four months now but I want you to really think about getting a vasectomy. I don't want a baby right now but if in the future I do. I really want my future to be with you.”
“Jade, you know I love children but would you really want to bring a child in the world and we're not married?”
“I mean I just want a child with you, not marriage. I don't want to pressure you into getting married to me.”
Steven smoothed his jet black hair back and said “Baby, I love you so much. I want to make you smile. I'm not going to get the vasectomy but I honestly don't want to bring any children into the world without being married.”
Jade sat in his lap and played with his hair “You don't have to marry me, we can keep things the way they are until we decide else wise. It's completely up to you.”
“Let's just see what happens,” he said, kissing her.
She walked back into the kitchen and continue cooking dinner. She loved to cook for the love of her life.
She heard her phone ringing so she picked it up and answered it.
“Hello...”
“Hi, Jade it's your mother. Where have you been? Deshawn stopped by here the other day says he hasn't seen you in a while.”
Why in the hell would he go to my mother's house? She hadn't spoken to her mother since she left for the UK. She didn't want her mother to think she couldn't think for herself. '
“Mother, I moved out of his house. I have a new boyfriend now.”
“A new boyfriend? When did you call the wedding off?”
“Six months ago when I caught him cheating on me with my wedding planner.”
“Aww, I'm so sorry to hear, but why haven't I heard from you. You could have came back home. I know we haven't been on the best of terms but I love you.”
“Mom, I live in the UK now, I have a new job and place.”
“With this guy?”
“Yes, we live together.”
Jade didn't exactly get along with her parents. She really didn't go into great detail with Steven, why she didn't really care for own mother. It started when she was young but when she went to college her mother didn't congratulate her. Her mother always showed her older sister more attention.
“Have you met his parents?”
“No..” Jade said, lowly. She didn't want to be reminded of the fact. She knew that her relationship with Steven wasn't perfect but it worked for her.
“Why not?”
“I just haven't had time to meet them.”
“Jade, I just can't believe you've moved out of the country and you didn't tell your family.”
“Y'all never had my back so I didn't include y'all in my plans. I'm sorry things turned out this way. Maybe one day I’ll come home and you can meet him.”
“Who is this guy and how old is he?”
“He's thirty-nine mother and he is a C.E.O of a business.”
“You love men with money huh? You're just like your aunt. Always chasing money.”
“See, this is why we never get along. I pay bills as well. I'm not after his money.”
“Jade, I'll talk to you some other time when you have some sense.”
She hung up the phone. Jade sighed and slammed her phone down. She couldn't believe how bad her mother treated her. Even as a child her mother paid her little sister more attention. Jade's mother didn't like Deshawn and she probably wouldn't like Steven either.
“Baby what's wrong?”
“My mother thinks I'm a gold digger. She always showed my sister more attention. It doesn't matter, I like here now. I don't care about my family.”
Steven held her tight and wiped her tears away. He hated to see his girlfriend upset. He didn't know she had such a big problem with her family.
“Baby, you have me and you always will. I love you Jade, just let it out baby. Go lie down and I'll finish cooking dinner,” he said, picking her up and carrying her to bed. She knew that he was the only person in the world who cared about her.
“I'm so glad that I have you, baby,” she said, wiping her tears away. She couldn't deny the hurt she felt from her family. That was one of the reasons why she didn't want to stay in the states. She felt like the only people she had were Steven and Drew.
Not only did she feel alone back home but she felt like no one understood her. If she hadn't made Deshawn her everything, maybe she would still have her family and friends. She had devoted too much time and energy to him. She promised herself she would never do that again.
“Let's start practicing for our baby,” he said, kissing all over her face. Instantly her body became aroused with desire.
“Where are the condoms baby?” she asked, looking at the nightstand.
“We don't need them, let's just sees what happen baby,” he said, sucking on her neck. Jade's eyes light up with desire. Finally they could be as one and experience real love making.
That night the couple made love over and over again without protection.
