  “No, honey,” said Muffy. “We all willingly did what needed to be done to make sure you were safe and sound. We love you. It’s what family does for one another.”

  Morgan couldn’t stop the tears from coming.

  Petey thrust his handkerchief out to her.

  She nearly took it without paying attention, but York intervened. “Darlin’, no fussing over this. They’re right. Family does this for each other.”

  Morgan tried to stop tearing up but couldn’t. “I don’t know why I can’t stop crying.”

  Millie laughed. “Sweetie, pregnancy hormones will do it to you. I can’t wait for the little ones to get here.”

  “I’m sorry, what?” asked Morgan, emotionally sobering instantly at the mention of pregnancy hormones.

  Millie glanced at her sister.

  Betty nodded. “It’s true. The girls will be here before you know it. I can’t wait. They look like their mother but act like their father.”

  Morgan grabbed for York’s hand only to find it wasn’t where she’d last thought it was. Turning, she expected to find him right behind her.

  While he technically was behind her, he wasn’t standing.

  He was flat on his back, lying on the dolls he was so afraid of.

  Louis rushed over to his brother and bent. He checked him over. “He fainted.”

  Petey nodded and rubbed his chin. “Doll fright. I get it. Scare the dickens out of me too.”

  “Someone should get him off the floor,” said Luc.

  Morgan snorted. “Not before I call his sisters, his mother, and his grandmother to come over and take a bunch of pictures. I’m going to need your phone.”

  Luc tossed it to her, and she went to work capturing the moment.

  “My husband,” she said, emotions welling in her. “The alpha.”
