Summon Toren (Archangels Creed #3)

by Daniels, Kenra

A bolt of heated desire shot through Kassern, followed hard by a deep rage. What could compel her to display her body that way? Before he could object aloud, a wave of anger crossed her face. She wanted a fight?

"Aren't you going to say anything about my new clothes?" Red painted lips curved into a glistening smile that dared him to do something.

Provoking her felt like the wrong thing to do. So Kassern bit his tongue and smiled. "You look gorgeous."

A disappointed look crossed her face, quickly concealed.

The angel physician nodded slightly in approval. "We have a number of tests to perform on the samples we acquired. Unless there is a change, Karly is free to leave. If there are further episodes, return here immediately."

That was it. He turned and left them staring after him and Kassern nearly couldn’t contain his horrified objections. Karly was clearly not free, much less free to leave and the only reassurance otherwise was the docs you may return to your regular programming tone. "I guess we’ll…join the others?" He couldn't think of anything else they should do.

Karly shrugged a shoulder with that need to fight look plastered to her beautiful face. He located Dorn and flashed them to the haze of yet another hotel room, more like a dump that matched his wife’s new ensemble and attitude. Despite all the bad news, his entire being fucking blazed with the need to dominate whatever the hell had a hold on her. And judging by his massive hard on, his instinct said he needed to fuck it out of her.

  ** ** **

Toren knew deep down in his angelic heart that the little prick approaching the cabin was merely playing a role in his mission. It meant Toren apparently wasn’t supposed to sink his phallus into his beautiful wife just yet.

  Dammit.

He kissed her with an eternal hunger, holding her strong jaw in his hand, loving that she was his. Waiting to be claimed entirely by him. And the sweet sound she made in her throat told him she was so very ready.

There was only one other thing he couldn’t wait to do besides becoming one with Samantha. And that was finally dealing with that sniveling piece of shit for hitting her.

  “What human?”

  “Joe.”

  “Ugh, that bastard.”

“Get up, I don’t want that insolent fecal matter to ever see more of your beautiful skin than absolutely necessary.”

She smiled with a pretty blush. It would be the first time she actually considered his compliments to be true.

“Get used to hearing it. You’ll grow weary of it, I’m sure.”

“Oh, I’m sure I won’t.” She quickly slid up her jeans and stuffed her panties in her back pocket then proceeded to put on her t-shirt. Toren groaned when her breasts disappeared. “My God,” she whispered, smiling from ear to ear at him. “You liking my breasts I’ll never understand. It’s as fascinating as it is ridiculous.” She added an ecstatic little giggle and Toren’s mercury demanded he take her now, in that instant. Unbelievable the way it did with her.

A booming knock sounded on the door just as Toren put on only his black BVD’s. He left his shirt off to rub in what he could already smell on the human. Jealousy.

  “Your clothes!” she whispered.

Toren ignored her and opened the door. Immediately the human appeared stumped at meeting a nearly naked man. He stuttered stupidly then peered around Toren and caught sight of Samantha. Toren tensed, waiting for the varmint to speak.

  “I see you’ve got Sam—”

Toren ordered his mouth to freeze, not waiting for him to say something to kill him for. He stood there with wide eyes, wondering what was wrong with his jaw.

“You hit Samantha the other day.” Toren named the sin before issuing judgment. He released the man’s jaw to hear his excuse and to justify to Sam what he was about to do.

“She came at me when I had a loaded gun, it was reflex—”

Toren slammed his fist into Joe’s chin. The human flew off the porch and landed in the snow on his back, unmoving. “If you so much as look at her wrong, human, you’ll get far worse.” Toren made sure the words found their way into his warped little unconscious mind and rooted them there.

He shut the door and turned to find Samantha’s wide eyes leveled on him. “It was reflex,” he said.

She finally burst out in cute snickers, putting her hand over her mouth. She flew into his arms then. The way she hugged him said she was grateful he defended her. Something she apparently wasn’t accustomed to.

  That would surely change.

She pulled away and looked up at him. “You didn’t even find out what he needed.”

“Yes I did.” He leaned and nibbled at her lips, sliding his hands all over her body, too damn hungry for her own good. “My couple just showed up at your house. Answering your ad.”

She gasped in astonishment and he kissed her deeply. When he reached those sexy whimpers that boiled his mercury, he pulled up and said, “I can’t make love to you now...” he undid the fastening on her jeans. “…but I can taste you.” He dropped to his knees and pulled the denim down with him. After helping her out of the clothing, he guided her legs onto his shoulders. “Hold on,” he murmured while placing hungry kisses on the smooth skin of her sex.

She gasped and grabbed on to his head. Perfect. The leverage forced his face tight to her essence and he eagerly worked his lips between her folds and began suckling her clit. Supporting her back with his forearms and hands, she began moving on his mouth, her sweet squirms making it just right for her. God in heaven he’d never tasted anything like her. Ignorance was certainly bliss but knowing was beyond any universal ecstasy he’d ever fathomed.

No wonder this had been forbidden.

“Oh God, yes,” she moaned, rocking against his mouth.

Toren growled hungrily on her, letting the metallic vibration add to the assault. Her inner thighs trembled on his face and neck and her heels dug into his back. She was so close. He pressed his fingers into her spine and rapidly flicked his tongue on the very tip of her clit, unraveling her in an instant.

  “Toren, Yes, yes, yes.”

He slid a hand up, feeling the spasms of pleasure arcing through her body, and soon intense need made him dizzy. He wanted his finger buried inside her so he could feel the break entirely and intimately. What would it be like when he buried his shaft in her, when she climaxed this way on him? When she made those desperate sounds in his ear while he kissed her? He couldn’t stand the suspense.

When she’d shuddered her delicious last, he carefully helped slide her legs off his shoulders and eased her down his chest to his waist. Toren wrapped her in his arms, coveting her body while kissing her neck, and jaw, then lips. The aftermath of her orgasm sounded almost as tormenting as the orgasm itself. Full of awe and rapture at what he’d just given her.

“Oh my Lord in heaven that was…oh hell that was so…so amazing!”

“You sound ready to do it again,” he whispered at her temple.

  “Oh Jesus…damn, I’m sorry.”

  “For what?”

She gasped like it should be obvious. “I keep taking every entity in heaven’s name in vain!”

He closed his eyes loving how devout she was without realizing it. “It’s not vain sweet heart.”

  “What? I’m…I’m saying it when I…when you’re…”

“When you’re doing what God designed you to do when a…a man…” What was he saying? He wasn’t a man and…and yet he was…

  “What’s wrong?”

He shook his head. “If anybody needs to worry about blasphemy it’s me.”

She gasped and looked him in the eyes. “You told me it wasn’t wrong, I thought—”

“It’s not it’s just…I’m supposed to not want this until my human couple binds and I inherit part of their humanity.”

She smiled like that was the greatest compliment. “Wow. I’m so amazing.”

He nuzzled her lips with his. “Heaven yes. Yes, you are.” Though Toren figured it was more than
that and wished he knew the reason for it. He’d wanted her since she’d kissed him. But why?

  ** ** **

“What?” Toren finally had to ask, looking at his beautiful wife sitting there in the driver seat just staring at him.

She shook her head and gave a light gasp. “Just trying to figure out if I’m dreaming or if you’re actually real. An…angel.”

“You say it like you weren’t sure we existed.”

She gave a cute non-lady-like snort. “Hello, human here. Frail. Corrupt. Fallen. Of course I wasn’t sure. It's not like there’s been a whole lot of miracles happening in my life.”

It was Toren’s turn to snort.

  “What!”

He nodded a few times and gave a light laugh. “No miracles? Baby, there have been more miracles in your life than recorded in your Christian Bible.”

Shocked gasp. “Oh please!” She started up the truck and yanked at the wheel till they were aimed in the direction of the ranch. “Like what.”

Toren kept one nostril to the wind for danger and the other all over his delicious soon to be wife. “Well, there’s the whole you breathing thing.”

“I mean besides the regular obvious miracles.”

“Ah, okay. Let’s see. The bear you got for your sixth birthday.”

“What? That was no miracle, my uncle gave me that after I asked for it.”

“Yeah but you didn’t know they’d discontinued that bear. There was only one place that sold them and we tipped off your Aunt to where that was.”

She drove like a beautiful lunatic, her mouth open. Toren smiled at how Joe would wake up with a serious headache added to his humiliation. “What else!”

“Remember that flat tire you guys had on your way to the stock sale in Great Falls?”

“Oh my God, you did that? Daddy was so pissed. We missed the opening and he didn't get to bid on a stallion he wanted.”

“No, not me personally, Arliean did.”

  “Arliean?”

  “Your guardian?”

She glanced from him to the road, her mouth stuck on open. “Okay, but how is that a miracle?”

“Because if you hadn’t, the guy who stopped to help your dad wouldn’t have learned what he did.”

“Oh my God, I remember that creepy dude. I was sure he was some kind of serial killer and would cut us into little bits. What did he learn?”

“He wasn't a serial killer, but he wasn't far off either. He'd lived a very hard life and believed humanity was completely lost, that goodness no longer existed in the hearts of men. He learned that there were still good people in the world that day.”

“But he stopped to help us.”

“Yes. He stopped because he planned to rob you. And your father would have resisted, allowing him to justify killing all of you. He'd have discovered he liked killing that day. But when your father gave him the fifty-four dollars, all the money in his wallet, for his kindness, he saw exactly what he needed to see.”

Sam busted out laughing. “Oh my God! I remember my mother having a shit fit about that and my dad saying he just felt compelled to. It was the last trip we took as a family. Just a few weeks later, she was gone.”

“Well your father was compelled that day.”

  “By an angel?”

“Yes, Lauris pulled that one off.”

Sam shot another laugh. “I’ll say, must’ve been like pulling a heist at the tightest bank in town getting my father to do that.”

Toren smiled. “Not when Lauris showed him similarities between that man and the little brother who he’d lost when he was seventeen. Before you were born, your uncle was shot to death attempting to rob a small diner.”

“Ohhhh my Gosh.” She shook her head, looking in the rearview mirror. She gasped. “Shit, I forgot about Joe back there.”

Toren bit his lip to keep from laughing when she didn’t slow down.

“So wait, isn’t that like manipulation? What the angels did?”

  “Of course.”

  “Of course! And that’s…okay?”

“Yes, as long as it’s for one's good. He didn’t lie or twist his arm, he just reminded him and your father did what was right.”

  “Giving all his money?”

“His angel suggested it was the thing to do. Seemed right to your dad in that moment. And it changed that man’s life.”

“So…is it always about that? I mean getting people to believe that there’s good?”

“It’s about keeping people alive long enough for them to suspect there is a God and suspect they need Him.”

  “Just suspect?”

“Yes. We take it from there. When anybody gets to the point where they suspect those two things, then it’s a lot easier. But it’s the getting them to that point that can get messy.”

  “Messy, huh?”

“As in we don’t interfere much. Unless it’s absolutely necessary to the getting them there plan. We can speed up the process and do many things that often are seen as merciless and cruel, but it’s merely us getting them where we can legally truly help them.”

  “And that’s…knowing God.”

He chuckled. “Yeah. It’s kind of a requirement if you want to live in His universe, under His protection.”

“Wow! Just…fascinating.” She glanced at him several times with a worried look. “Are you supposed to be telling me all these secrets?”

“They’re not secrets to those like you.”

  “Like me? I’m no saint.”

He took his time looking her over. “You believe?”

  “Yeah, so?”

  “That’s all that’s required.”

“Oh don’t tell me living right has nothing to do with that.”

“Okay, I won’t. You live by what you believe, that’s called faith and works. Your works match your faith.”

“But I don’t even know a lot of stuff about God.”

“You’re not judged according to what you don’t know, but what you do.”

Brief silence preceded her reply. “Well, whew on that one.”

“You’re so much more righteous than you realize. God is an impartial judge. No two souls are judged the same, every life is a unique fingerprint on the fabric of existence.”

“Oh. You’re damn sexy when you talk all poetic.”

Her scent that was still all over his face became a sudden distraction in his nostrils. “Mmm.” His helpful mercury replayed every single part of what he’d done to her just before they left. Tasting her, pleasuring her, hearing her cry out in that abandon…damn it made his soul sing.

The problem with that was the danger they were in. Those things torturing the cow would lead hell to her door and his damn mercury was too busy playing at something else to seem to care. He had to take control. His mercury never acted in opposition to any plan he’d partaken in, so having to try in any way was bizarre. He’d sent a message to Kassern about what happened and was waiting for the verdict of what to do.

“You’re quiet.” Her words were like heavenly silk.

  “Just thinking.”

She seemed to get fidgety, glancing in the mirrors, adjusting her grip on the steering wheel. “About?” She fluttered a laugh. “I’m sure about the end of the world and finding or meeting your couple. Or those hellish animals back there—”

“I’m trying to think of those things.”

“I don’t know how in the world you wouldn’t be.”

  “No you don’t.”

“Well…maybe you can tell me, I might be able to help? I mean I've got a good head on my shoulders when it comes to handling difficult situations, I could be useful.”

“I doubt it.” Toren felt the metals in her body slow with a slight depression. “Sorry, I didn’t mean it like it sounded. I just…”

“Think I’m too girly for the tough stuff. I get that all the time.”

“Yes, I think you’re too girly for the tough stuff but not because I think you aren’t strong. I…”
/>   Silence filled the cab for several seconds until her metals began to move in reverse. “Go on,” she said with a harder voice.

“I think I need to protect you.”

She gave a light snort. “You sound like that’s unusual.”

“It is. For me. I’m not a protector, I’m a warrior.”

“Well you’re a warrior that protects something. Might not be a woman but it’s something, what you believe in, same difference.”

He glanced at her unable to hold down a smile. She was beautiful in every way. “Maybe protect is the wrong word. Possess. I can’t stop thinking about making love to you. I need to bind your soul to mine as I bury myself in you.” He looked out the window. “I don’t want to do those things to the other things I’m protecting.”

The change in her body had occurred the second he’d said making love. Toren stifled a groan and cracked the window for air. “And then you do that.”

  “Do what?”

Her anger mixed with her arousal and Toren opened the window more at the heady scent. The combination was lethal to him, made him want to pleasure her aggressively.

“What are you doing, it’s freezing.”

  “I’m suffocating,” he muttered, honestly.

“Oh great, we just get started and I’m already suffocating you.”

“No Samantha.” He looked at her, amazed how she read every word he said in a negative light. “Your scent is suffocating me. You forget I can smell you, I wasn’t being romantic when I first told you that in the cabin.”

The scent of shame added into the mix and Toren rolled the window down the entire way.

  “Now what? Does it…stink?”

He put his head out the window, breathing in the Samantha-free air. When he pulled it back in, the scent hit him full force. “God, no it doesn’t stink,” he gasped. “I feel like I’ve been starving for eternity and you’re the first meal I’ve ever had and it’s…it’s hard not to just devour you every time I’m near. And then you begin to emit these scents. Your arousal and anger combined drive me crazy and then you add shame into that mix and I am filled with a desperate need to show you how amazing you are, how much you mean…”
